Shaw is the best "new" character across all three seasons of Picard.

Captain Shaw transition from a****** to a team player was the very instant when Picard says the boy is his son he knew right away he can't do nothing now and accepts the admiral s command and that's when I respected him the most

Same! My first thought on the character was he's lost someone and is broken, suspended in a dark bitter limbo, maybe he related here or just gave in but we shall see, I wonder if he lost someone recently or further ago he lost a previous captain at wolf 359 perhaps? Something interesting going on

When I watched S3E1 and saw Todd's character I thought to myself, "oh no, he is going to screw this all up". Meaning, Todd having to find the correct tone and social dynamic for a starship captain with Jeri as a commander and going toe-toe with the old toads. He nailed it and so did Jeri...that dinner scene was powerfully crafted and intense. WELL DONE! Trek on.

Captain Shaws' character is coming along and is 3 dimensional, he cares about the safety of his entire crew of 500, and tries to do the best thing for his crew facing a powerful enemy. However, he does come around to help Picard and Riker in episode 2 risking all with the encouragement of Seven's speech. Conflict within the crew can lead to great drama. The ship the Titan has a name that can rise to the occasion and possibly outsmart the bigger ship.

Captain Janeway who always had a knifedge relationship teetering on love and despair with no wiggle room , and quite possibly Janeways daughter she never had , what becae of her affair with Chakotay ? and her crew mates fortunes ? Paris , Kim, Tuvok , and the EMH who was responsible for Seven's very being . Her sparring partner Bel'ana Torres and great friend Nelix .

Picard has flaws and he points them out bluntly putting the other side to the story. Modern cinema needs more of these these characters. For 7 of 9, she’s great! However she’s almost too competent to be a commander, we should see some flaws and bad decisions… otherwise why bother joining star fleet if she is not to grow as a person from it?

If this guy hates the Borge so much why is seven his first officer? I can think of two excuse he could give command off the top of my head to have transferred one being she’s never served as a officer so he has doubts her ability to do her duty the other being that her species (her branch of the Borg) are not just non members of the federation but are hostile enemies

I still am not going to watch seasons 1 and 2 of Picard because the WRITERS were horrible as was the producers. Nothing bad regarding the actors. Kurtzman should be drummed out of Star Trek.

And what a shitty scene it was.
The problem here lies in that Picard so far has not encountered a single Starfleet officer in command who isn't a total dickhead towards him.
The audience doesn't need to be reminded that Picard is in retirement etc. This scene could have been delivered so much better, had he atleast given Seven a little whisper to help them out, even if his own personal experiences are in the way of that. I get that he's a man of protocol, but due to that it paints a horrible picture on the Starfleet as a whole, when every time we see a new captain or a general or whatever, they're assholes. As if the Academy only trains you to become one.
Now yes, most captains are arrogant, misguided individuals. But this isn't a show about Shaw. So it would make more sense to at least make him more closely relatable.

We would suggest waiting for context during a key moment later in the season.

Well, at least so far Season 3 isn't the complete dumpsterfire that were the previous 2 season. It at least kind of resembles Star Trek.

I haven't completed the season, but I think Todd's character never would have made Captain. He's way too neurotic.

Season 1 and 2 werent good, they were trash. And i will critisize it no matter what. Kurtzman is still attached so my outlook on Star Trek is still dim. Get rid of him and Goldsman and Star Trek will return to form. Until then there's no point in getting hyped at all. I grew up witih Star Trek and i hate what he and CBS did to it by even letting him retain his contract.

Funny ,they look so different in light ! Can’t even see their features in the dimly lit Titan !! They have no budget for a lighting crew in Picard 😡
