KK’s Priest - ‘Sermons of the Sinner’ - 10 new songs available on CD disc, single disc vinyl with bonus CD album, digital download and via streaming - is a musical statement that KK Downing's heavy metal ride is far from over after his extended hiatus. “The whole concept is the fact that I continue proudly to be who I am and what I am and do what I do,” declares Downing. “It's been nearly 10 years. I'm back making music.” Downing assembled former Judas Priest singer Tim “Ripper” Owens, Hostile guitarist A.J. Mills, Voodoo Six bassist Tony Newton, and DeathRiders/Cage drummer Sean Elg to create Sermons Of The Sinner.
Downing says the word “sinner” in the album title refers to his famous solo in that classic song of the same name, noting that fans are always hoping for new music to sound like the Judas Priest classics. KK’s Priest's new material is most certainly an homage. They have unleashed an album with a modern sound that hearkens back to what fans have always loved about Downing and his music and which still sounds fresh. The high speed album opener “Hellfire Thunderbolt” offers a fictitious take on how metal arrived before the masses were ready for it. Rousing rockers like “Raise Your Fists” and “Wild And Free” revel in the passion and excess that metal fans embrace. The guitar interplay is intense and inspiring, and the band is firing on all cylinders.

Two different bands, according to KK. Things like this will always draw comparisons. Former members doing what they love to do and that is play music. He's an artist and loves to create music. If it sounds like Priest well that's because he wrote alot of music with Glenn Tipton. They were a team. So I give this band the respect they deserve

Priest is literally my favorite band besides Megadeth even inspiring me to be the artist I am today. Also there is no comparison or contest, what priest did to kk was dirty and kk took what magic they had with him....Its obvious, firepower is a good album but is it great? F*** no it kills and pains me to think about how stay up and did that to him I listen to 2 hour radio interview with KK and he was shocked because it was sudden and without warning he thought that he could trust them and that they were his brothers his family and he's pretty much destroyed over it honestly it was shifty and just downright messed up I mean come on it's KK downing priest would never even be close to what they became if it wasn't for him and his talent but you can also listen to the live recordings of priest even on the sentinel back in the 80s and for some reason you can barely hear KK's lead in that it's all Glenn Tipton who am I honest opinion is a stuck up posh bastard and I'm not even British but I'm still saying posh and I would definitely smoke him like a fag when it comes to guitar even back in his prime
Judas Priest is not really even the members of the band it's quite honestly a gift from God that no matter who is in the band even if every single member was replaced the music under that name with that particular feeling in vibe would will carry on until the end of time as long as the members believed in what they were playing and gave 100% to the music like KK Downing has. Karma's a b**** as well look what happened soon as they got rid of KK Glenn Tipton has had to give up playing all together live get a gun for hire to replace him KK downing is got the same magic wow that entire newer priest album can't even come close I'm sorry but the proof is in the pudding and you're wrong....... 🍮 Puddin

"Conversely, KK’s Priest is alive and vital. They have plans to tour later this year with some Ripper-era Priest songs tossed into the mix, and Binks hopes to make appearances at shows. “Les was able to do the short set at the Steel Mill,” says Downing. “But he had a wrist injury after that and wasn’t able to do the album. Les wants to jump on the stage and a play a couple of songs, although he is not going to be able to play a full set. He will be our special guest.”
Let's hope he recovers from his injury and makes those guest appearances!

In a perfect world, KK and Judas Priest would make amends but keep both bands and collaborate frequently. Both groups are great.
I have been a Jesus Priest fan since 1978. When we had Priest and Halford I was very happy because there were two bands sounding like the mighty Priest (actually Halford sounded more like Priest than Judas Priest itself); now I’m happy because we have, again, two bands with the Priest sound!

I had the misfortune of seeing Fight at the LA 2. Halford went from headline 2 dates at Hammersmith Odeon 6000 people (me twice) to playing to a largely empty LA2 Capacity 600. I never forgave him for that but Halford did get better. Fight war of words was Pantera, the second album was grunge, then the first solo album was industrial. 10 years after Painkiller was retribution I think, Halford was not the same singer at that point. 2 dates at Hammersmith on that tour. I only went once. So no he did not sound like Priest for a lot of that time, only the later period when he was desperate to get back into Priest. Now here we are 20 years later still loving the same band. It is odd how the roles have switched. I am sure Halford and the KK clone can come up with a good album but the lack of Tipton is really going to harm that sound. For me Priest was always KK and Tipton.

Pablo - for the times of the mid to late 90s and even several years beyond, almost every heavy band was either modernizing their sound or trying different things all together sound-wise. I don’t think Jugulator (96-97) would have sounded much different SONICALLY even had Rob sung on it. It may have been slightly different lyrically, but sound style not much.

Normally I hate when there's 2 bands at once (RATT, LA Guns, etc.) BUT this is insanely awesome...and having Ripper and KK gives them legitimacy to the name. I always preferred Tiptons playing, and it's sad about his disease...but this Priest is more Priest than the original band. Rob screwed up by not asking KK back and unleashing this beast...but I support both! Hail the 2 priests and we need MORE of this type of metal nowadays. Great to see Ripper not only still has it, but seems to be even better.

This is a comeback in great shape!!! The song sounds like something from Angel Of Retribution/Nostradamus. Now it's clear that K.K. was behind this music. It's exactly the thing I expected. The blistering riffs, the powerful drumming, simple, strong and to the point vocals by Ripper. Everything is here on it's place. This is second legitimate Judas Priest. No true Judas Priest fan should miss this record. xD

I love Firepower and have always been a huge fan of Halford and Tipton. I also love Faulkner and Sneap. But man, oh man, does this sound great. I believe I have sincerely underrated mr KK Downing, this is killer stuff!
Yeah. KK is responsible for alot of the older priest tunes ( ie- songs from Sad Wings of Destiny, British Steel, Point of Entry, Screaming for Vengeance).
I always loved KK. I thought his solos had more feeling than Glenn's.
Also thought Glenn was kind of a poser. But Glenn still is an amazing guitarist.
Don't quite like the new guitarist's in Priest. Love KK'S new material. Love the band he put together.

I grew up with Priest, been a die hard fan of Priest, but being real here. Priest has been a great band, but as with all things great there is an end. A new priest has risen from the ashes as one is on the event horizon of extinction.😐😳.
