- Driving in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in winter is dangerous! But it is fun. Some people hate it. We call it Chionophobia. But many people love driving in the snow. I love that. This video gives you lot of fun while watching it. So enjoy have fun!
Welcome to the UP. Then go home !!
Hardly recognize it anymore as for the weather one morning after a week of subzero weather walked out of the apartment dressed for the weather and in the first block realized I was too warm, it had warmed up to 10 degrees.
The UP is beautiful. Slow down a little so we can really enjoy the scenery 😊
wtf this town is so beautiful and quaint. The places post cards are made of.
I've wanted to move there for a while because my family was basically from there, but then I see videos of cars sliding around and it makes me think twice about it. I do love the way it looks though. I've been visiting several times for the last 30 or 40 years, and it never changes. Which is one of the reasons I think about moving. I don't want to move to someplace that looks like that, and then have it turn into Flagstaff or Tempe. Both of which were cute towns and unique and both turned into basically Phoenix. Phoenix also turned into Phoenix since the time I've lived here. We had dirt roads in places when I first moved there. It's now way too many people and shopping plazas everywhere. I don't care about progress, I don't like it.
its not that bad. Just don't drive the speed limit on bad days and watch out for black ice.
I’ve never passed through Houghton at this speed. Feels like we are going 90 miles an hour. It’s enough to make one dizzy.
In 78 that area got 30 ft of snow I don't recall them crieing and begging for gov. Money and relief like the east coast does when they get 3 feet of snow from a storm up there they call 3 feet of snow touseday. Kids stay home and are back to school wedsday.
The absolute wakeup call I ever received! Left 50 yrs. ago and you told me why. Thanks Benny!
We lived in Lake Linden for 3 years while stationed there in the Coast Guard. Loved it!
gotta love them yoopers! Can't beat the upper peninsula. snow, cold and all!!
Nice music selection
Really a Jaunt from Hancock thru Houghton to Chassell and back and a final look on College Ave. just before entering the east end of downtown before it becomes Shelden Ave.. Lived there for 14 years and enjoyed all the seasons up there. Lived on Bridge St. and it was interesting watching the cars sliding up and down the hill.
Looks like skid row house is still going strong!
You know I used to live up there, near Houghton and I liked it. I liked it and I liked the people, I liked just about everything there was to like about being up there. Can say I been many places and lived in lots of them and wanted to stay, just like I did when I lived in the U.P., but can say I know what it's like when had to move, even tho I wanted to stay. Yeah cuz we got priorities and other opportunities and relationships and because we got all that we can't always stay. Boy am looking at all that snow and recall how much I liked it and would like to at least maybe go visit it. It was one of the nicer places I been. BUT, But, but I am old now and got those priorities and other opportunities, so maybe I'll just have to settle for a video on RUclips. You know what I mean.
The beginning of this clip is in close by neighboring Hancock.
There is no shortage of snow man making material.
Thanks for the video 😍
welcome
Michigan in its splender
Looks like winter carnival is over. Not much snow this year?

Lived in Oskar. I remember many a snowy drive through the H's.
I miss the UP so much. Thank you for the nostalgia
As long as you can get to L'anse for cinnamon rolls.
Thanks for the visit to a cool little town! I live in the desert, and just watching you drive down those snowy roads at normal speeds is giving me big anxiety!
Nice but you seem to be flying pretty good there lol
i love the snow
Try
My grandmother lived in toivola, a town some 30 miles to the west. Winter is nothing like it was back then.My mom said she watched the 1947 4th of July parade during a snow storm.
You pass a cop in a 25 mph speed zone?
You passed Doug Wybles house lol good vid and music
Where is the Climate Change?
Ask your wife.
Depressing. Looks like a upscale suburb of central Siberia.
What's depressing is a place that gets cold and no snow. What's the point?
@@Supercharged111 Perhaps you might get help for melancholy and depression.
You've obviously never been there...
Stay in Texas 😂
Paradise on earth.
There is literally a town called Paradise in the U.P. Also there's a town called Hell in the lower peninsula. So one can go from Hell to Paradise or visa versa here in Michigan. 😂
