"You could always write a book without stationery but, I don't know if you'd enjoy your life." Please could we have that on a T-shirt or a sticker??? Perfect 🤣
@@76kilosofshade81 Exactly! I think, ultimately, we're all pretty flexible and just want you to do whatever is going to work best for your process, your sanity, your goals for the book, and your goals for the channel. :)
If it's not broke, Sarra. This works for you and you've written what - 30 books. Regardless, I love listening to you in the background while I write. Some people have music, I have Sarra.
I'm way more excited for your Rough Draft challenge than I ever was for NaNo. I love the flexibility of picking a goal that suits us! I wish you the best for your writing for the rest of 2024, but remember no matter how much progress you make, you're exactly where you should be ❤
I've been gone for so long now, everything on YT is new and unfamiliar. Coming to HB is a little like coming home. A very long story short, I was at the hospital from mid February to mid June, and am now at a rehab-center since mid June until probably sometime in the first quarter of next year. I'm finally at a place mentally to be online some of the time, and having a catalogue of HB/SC videos to watch gives me a weird peace of mind. Can't wait to see what you've been up to. ❤
This is so helpful. I'm moving toward a bound brainstorm journal/ideas sketchbook and a story notes binder with rings for character notes, world maps, etc. so I can be more flexible with changes without feeling like I'm ruining a perfect notebook. (The perfectionist in me is truly a chaos agent!) Looking forward to your B6 set-up video!
Me, too! But I now have TWO notebooks my daughter has gotten me because she knows I'm a writer... and I gave had for a long time not wanting to mess them up. Or not knowing exactly what to write in them. Thinking I might use for a planning notebook. Who knows how long they might stay empty otherwise. And, if it helps me get TWO novels done, it's definitely worth it. I'll need lots more! 😅
❤ Always inspirational! I need to do better on my set up. I think it will definitely be a time saver. And cute matters. 😊 I wanted to mention that I do paper crafting and my inky pages curl. I use a laminator and it works great. Of course you should test that it doesn't mess up the ink. Can't wait for read Vanessa Shaw!!!
I have been stuck in my third act for a while now and just started to re-plot my book using Save the Cat Writes a Novel, I really like the structure! Can't wait to see how you incorporate it into your notebook. Here in Georgetown, Texas at the local bookstore a lot of authors do book launch parties. They are local independent authors and set up pre-orders prior to an event, the author (and their readers!) hang out at the bookstore while the author signs their book. Some authors make bookmarks or have a little book-themed gift and the bookstore staff does a little mini interview with the author. I would love to see you there Sarra!
Sarra, you have perfect timing. I'm putting together the plotting notebook for the rewrite I'm staring for the Rough Draft Challenge, and it's my first time using a bound notebook instead of a binder or disc-bound, so it's really great to see what you're planning for yours. For your plot grid, have you considered doing one with the small page flag stickies instead of written on the page, so you don't have to keep rewriting it? I do that for my in-planner kanban, and that's what I was thinking of doing for my own plotting notebook plot grid.
Ordered the whole Sacrifice Me series from the link! 😈😈😈😈 I’m excited to read that… after TDOVS! I set up an 8.5x11 Erin Condren notebook and I’m already thirty pages in-just preplanning for the rough draft challenge! I thought it would be too big, but turns out I’m living the size. Crazy because I’m a narrow or smaller when it comes to my planning notebooks. 😂
I'm really excited for this November and the Rough Draft Writing Challenge! I have started brainstorming a new novel and I will be joining the Diamond tier this time around. My goal is to completely brainstorm, plan, and plot my novel from start to finish (not something I typically do, but I also haven't completed a novel since before 2020). So my goal is to work toward it daily. I'm super excited and can't wait for more content!
I haven't done it with your supplies but you could try ironing it. Parchment or brown bag on either side just in case the ink goes wonky, put a piece of cloth over it, and then the iron on top. start with a low heat, and see if It helps, try a higher temp if it doesn't. Weight/flat pressure plus heat should flatten it.
Getting excited for a new take on November challenge! Setting up the companion notebook (a pantser version of plot notebook) and starting something completely new, after finishing book 2 of 3 in a mystery series last week (yay!) Looking forward to this challenge! Thank you for the video and the challenge!
Sarra your videos are always so motivating and helpful! I always leave your channel feeling inspired to write again. I swear by your plotting method (including the worksheets) and am so much closer to finishing my book than I've ever been before, thanks to you. Thank you so much!! 💓
Yeah I've done both but for me it just makes so much more sense to just call it 4 parts rather than have 1 part that is twice as long as the others split into 2. It's just always thrown me.
Wow! What a great video. So much useful information. I am re-watching your plotting videos, and together with this one, I am learning so much. Can't wait to see the set-up up video! You rock, Sarra!
OMG. I confused myself. I watched this and then checked RUclips and saw the one I actually meant to watch when it went out live 😂 Anyway, this was a bonus. Thank you!
I'm excited about the rough draft challenge. I'm planning on working on the 3rd book of a 4-book series. I'll probably do diamond tier, but I still have a couple days to decide. :)
Oh, I bet the google sizing of B6 was the European sizing. The A sizes are world-wide standardized, but the B sizes come in European and Japanese sizings. The Stalogy B6 is the Japanese standard size, and the European sizing is a tad smaller.
I just so happen to use a Stalogy for brainstorming too (it’s an A6)! Still have about 100 pages in it and I’m starting to move the more chaotic part of the process to a binder. I’m always trying to make some sort of story bible though I know it is simply impossible 😂
You could try ironing it on a low heat. Place a sheet in between towels or paper towels to protect the vellum. I would try it with one sheet. It works on dyed papers.
For the Rought Draft Challenge I'm going to be working on the second book in a paranormal cozy mystery series. I previously wrote the first 8 chapters then set it aside. I pulled it out this summer and reworked the plot so for October (Preptober) I'm rewriting those first 8 chapters to fit the new plot, I'm setting up character pages in my series bible and I'm finishing the outline so I'm ready to write on November 1st.
A brainstorming notebook I've been using since 2021 is almost full. I'm setting up a new notebook. I'm going to include some of the worksheets you have given us in spreads. I call it a brainstorming notebook, but it has more than brainstorming in it.
Two questions - Which platform would be best to purchase a physical copy of the book from? In terms of supporting you? 2nd, with book sales, does it 'look better' or help you more if there's multiple transactions? I plan to buy multiple copies of the book, does it make a difference for your stats/algorithm if it's a single purchase or multiple? So excited for you AND for this new book! Grats!
Do you have an amazon store link for the things that you use? I was just wondering. I used your thicker paper before and now I can't remember what it was called. The office max near me has almost no printer paper.
I'm really just guessing based on previous journals. I think that's the hard part about trying to section a bound notebook. I'll share more in the set up about how I decided.
@@HeartBreathings Got it! I tried doing this a few years ago, and my little A6 notebook has all sorts of information scattered throughout its pages. As much fun as it is to flip through the pages, It's so disorganized. Look forward to the next video!
I really like this. Curiosity question: what made you decide on a b6 stalogy verses a disk bound? Disk bound seems like it might be easier to add to and take away from, however stalogy is smaller and might be easier to carry around. My mind works a bit strangely.
I'm guessing you wouldn't be able to tip those vellum sheets in if you laminated them, I wonder if you glued another sheet of the velum on the back if it would help weight it to stop the curling

Will she be able to meet the One by the summer's end, or is finding True Love a lost cause?

For your curling issue, iron it with a buffer of printer paper so it doesn't burn by accident. Put the iron on low and it should iron it flat.
