There is another way and it looks great actually - Pick the rectangular grid tool - Draw a rectangle with as many lines and columns as you want - Select your grid to make it a SYMBOL (its the club icon on the right panel or your can go to WINDOW- SYMBOL) - Click NEW SYMBOL to save it (just add a name and click ok) - Make a circle, then with the DIRECT SELECTION TOOL (A) delete half of the circle - With your selected semi circle click EFFECT- 3D- REVOLVE - On the 3D revolve panel select MAP ART - Pick your symbol then hit SCALE TO FIT and INVISIBLE GEOMETRY and then ok - Choose your angles and pick, as a SURFACE, WIREFRAME - Now select your globe and click OBJECT- EXPAND APPEARANCE - Select your globe again and hit UNGROUP- UNGROUP- RELEASE CLIPPING MASK - Now you should have two faces of your globe, drag the top layer to the side and see the result

Bro I have been searching for this tutorial for a very long time, I watched your displacement map tutorial and saw this and I was so shocked and happy. Thank you
Allright so what I could find out was that the more anchor points a shape has, the more lines it has. You can increase the number of anchor points by going to Object > Path > Add Anchor points.
Yo Dreadlabs! for the first wirefram with the grid tool, when i use envelop mesh and move it around, it doesnt stick together, the lines on sticking on the sides go out of placee :(
Thank you for sharing, very useful! Do you know how to increase the number of concentric dividers and radial dividers in the 'Donats' you created? At the moment, there are only a few of these lines. Many thanks in advance 🙏🏼
I've tried following the steps to make a wireframe torus but it doubles up all the lines and I'm not sure why. I've just set it to wireframe and 360 degrees rotation...
I think a recent update made this tutorial obsolete. Im currently stuck in their new "3D and materials" window and cant find any wireframe options. I don't even think there is a dedicated 3D revolve options window anymore :( EDIT: I found it! Its under here: Effect/3D and Materials/3D (Classic)/Revolve (Classic)
please can you do a tutorial on raising the centre of a square (from an angle) so that it looks like a pyramid? I.e. the lines stay straight and do not bend
Thanks a lot. I am unable to envelop distort the perspective grid as it automatically turns into a 2X2 normal grid, as I use it. Could you help me with retaining the perspective rec. grid while envelop distorting?
Hi thanks so much for this tutorial - question, how do we get more lines in the third example? I notice you have more lines in the top sphere than at the bottom sphere. Cheers.
Hi, I’m not 100% sure but I think you can increase the number of lines by adding more points to your shape. So if you go to object > path > add anchor points before you apply the 3D effect you should get more lines
hello im doin first one but i can make trapezoid mesh. what can I do for now to make this? what button do I need to click to make trapezoid mesh? my version is 2024 cc ;)
If you're using Illustrator 2022 btw, the menu to do the third graphic is Effect > 3D and Materials > 3D (Classic) > Revolve (Classic)
