Just rebuilt my rig into a hybrid gaming PC/ Blu-ray ripping/Plex server machine with this case. I just wanted to say this video was INCREDIBLY helpful, thank you so much!
That's a well designed case, notable for its flexibility and for the attention to detail. The accessory box must be huge! You have created the prime reference video here Christopher, for anyone building with it.
Very comprehensive review. You're a very patient man, pulling it all apart to show us every feature and potential build configuration. Great looking piece of kit.
Absolutely fantastic review and build guide! I recently decided to do my new build in this case and I'm the kind of guy who needs to see somebody hold all the cables out in the open and tell me what they are and what they do. Unfortunately my new motherboard doesn't have two usb 3 headers, but thanks to you, I now know this and I'll go get an adapter. Thanks again for reviewing all the features as well as showing your step-by-step build!
Absolute legend. I have the exact same psu and the 12vhpwr adaptor from bequite ready for a build tomorrow using a asus rog strix 4090oc. Read the manual and was racking my head on which pci-e power port I use on the back of the psu for the new adaptor. Thanks so much for the detailed explanation. Saved me so much stress. No info on this anywhere.
This video saved my day. I was confused where to connect the case fan cable, but this problem got solved. And many thanks for the reminder to connect the back case fan.
This is a very impressive case and this review showcased all them very well, good job. The attention to detail is next level, definitely not the norm these days with case manufacturers. It would be nice if here's a smaller version for people with limited space.
Looks like a great case to build in. Its definitely a case of function over form (pun not intended). The aesthetics of the case arent to my liking but its obviously a case you pick because of the performance it offers versus how nice it looks.
I found that with an EATX m/b and the EATX Cable cover fitted you could not fit a 4090 as it butts up against the cable cover. Just a heads up, if you fit the motherboard then decide to vertically mount the gpu you will need to remove motherboard to re-position the gpu slots.
Coming back to this Video , Used it as a Base for my Build , the Case is great , the components (though i upgraded some) have made the most silent brick that tackles every game with no sweat. Thanks man !
Excellent review of this case down to the smallest detail. I watched the kitguru review that was also good, but not quite as detailed and instructional as this, great job. The problem now is I'm hooked on this case and my Silent Base 801feels a lot less feature rich against this beauty.
case with removable motherboard tray always amazes me, but this one is well-designed because the PCI-E slots comes along with, making both motherboard and gpu easier to install, especially when you go for vertical mount GPU.
@Christopher Flannigan Great Video!!! I was wondering if there is a possibility to install a 5.25" ODD and one HDD at same time. I'm asking because i need to move them from my old build. Thank you for your answer!
This is so informative. I basically have the same build. Well, same companies. But there were some questions that I need for the 901 and MOBO since my MoBo is close (Dark Hero) and the GPU is the ROG 4090. I did end up getting the Dark Rock Elite.
Very nice learning curve throughout the whole Guide...but i found it to late!!! I just assembled my new PC but with an AMD motherboard ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI, and unfortunately it only has one 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 port. So I can choose between having ARGB or FAN controller installed on the front. I have looked for a converter which maybe could connect the USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 to the USB 2.0 headers, but this doesn't seem possible. So my question is if you have another solution on how both could be installed? If not, I will only install the ARGB controller, do you see any problem with not having installed the FAN controller? Cheers mate!
Amazing video, and thank you! I do have one question. When you're doing the front panel cables, you plug in one of the USB 5Gbps to the motherboard. However, there are 2 of those cables. Where does the 2nd plug in? EDIT: I rewatched, and you do actually have 2 ports. What do I do if I'm on a motherboard that only has 1 5Gbps port? I have the ASUS ROG Strix Z790-F.
Hi I've been looking into this case. I note you say you have to remove the noise dampening panels at the top for a radiator install, are you sure this is necessary? I've seen other reviews that say there's side vents at the top just like the front so still get airflow.
I made a PC exactly like this video and followed you step by step but got lost when it came to connecting the cables. My motherboard turns on but my fans and graphics are do not. Please help!
I purchased this case and got a lemon. The front panel was extremely tight and i need 2 screwdrivers to literally pry the flap open each time... The rear fan runs at 100% and does not work with the speed of the front fans - tech support confirmed this. Both SSD cages are 1mm too narrow to fit in Samsung SSDs.
@@vqa33 It's faulty wiring that is making it 100%, it is not meant to be 100% all the time. It's loud, all the time, that's why it bothers me so much... The case was rushed in manufacturing, hence the issues.
Hi Christopher, this is great detail information. I just got my Dark Base Pro 901, and try to assembly without a GPU yet. For some reason, the fan on both front and back panels are not spinning, the control panel light is not on at all. I don't know what connection I'm missing. This is new computer I'm building usong the following: - ASRock Z790 Nova WiFi LGA 1700 - G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB Series (Intel XMP 3.0) DDR5 RAM 32GB - Crucial T700 2TB Gen5 NVMe M.2 SSD without heatsink - Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 A-RGB - NZXT C1200 PSU - 1200 Watt Gaming PC Power Supply - ATX 3.0 - Windows 11 22H3 installed Plan to get the nVidia RTX 4070 Super next year when it's available. I'm stuck. In addition, I can't get the Wi-Fi to connect to my TP-Link AXE75 Wi-Fi 6E. Can you help please? Thanks.
just built a new 901 system, but cant get the front IO fan speed buttons working. The front fan sync button works (all fans speed up) but not the min max controls. The case pwm cable is plugged into case fan 1 all other fans are connected to the two supplied hubs apart from the supplied back fan which is connected to the CPU fan slot, (as I have water cooling connected to the AIO pump slot. totally stumped.
I want to ask a question and I hope you can answer it for me. I have a corsair RM1000 PSU that I got when I build my old computer, at the moment I have a Sapphire Toxic RX 6900XT as my GPU, I want to replace the GPU with a RTX 4080 Supper, but my power supply never came with either the 12vol cable or is it not on the PSU, so my question is would I still be able to use the PSU I have or would I have to replace it with a new one that will support the GPU?
Hello. I am going to get a similar build to yours as in the video but it will be the dark hero board instead and I was wondering how and where would I plug in the cables needed for the quick charge on the case as seen at the 41:58 mark? I looked the manual and I am still confused.
Hey I want to get one of these. Ive had the 802, 900 Pro and I was wondering if you could physically fit two 200mm fans on the front (I have Silverstone AP181s ) I know there are no mounting holes but if there is room for them at all to fit.
Thank you for this video. Got several questions answered. But I still have one unanswered about connecting that fun hub. Is it just a matter of connecting chasis fan as if directly getting fan connected? And this video raised other question: How those sync buttons are connected to motherboard?
Hello, I have issue with RGB strips on case. Unfortunately, it's not working. According to manual this should be connected by Front IO panel cable to PSU right ? Front panel is working, RGB settings also, sync also, however strips are not. Any advice is welcome. Thank you.
So far the biggest issue I've had is trying to get the two metal support notches at the back of the graphics card I have to fit between the motherboard and the case. I simply can't get the notches to slide into the back of the mobo, now I wish I installed it earlier because I've already wired most things up to the mobo and don't want to ruin my cable management. (I may have to though).
Thank you very much for the instructions! But a question about the Fan Sync, when I press it, the display always goes to the highest setting and all fans turn up fully even if the Pc is not fully loaded. I have connected everything exactly the same as in the video. For the 3 pin cable that should be connected to the bottom of the mainboard I had to connect a extender (Noctua) the one frome the case was to short....
did you find a solution? I'm facing that now. I am thinking of some crazy cable adaption - a splitter to 2 19-pin and then convert those 19 pin into the 9 pin usb 2.0 slots that I have...
Is it possible to fit a side and front rad at the same time? I def see a lot of sizes supported, but its hard to tell if there is clearance to do both.
This is a case I am highly interested in, though I do have a question in mind. Given there are four USB-A ports and one USB-C port and I do rely on front I/O with thumb drives, the port speed is important to me. What speed do these ports run at?
Thank you so much for this in-depth review of the case. I have one question: since the hard drive trays are secured to the case with only one screw, do you think the HDD drives will vibrate a lot in this case (especially if mounted in the upper spaces)? I am not worried about the sound, I'm worried about HDD lifetime. Thank you!
quick question: i got an asrock b650m pro rs motherboard that has its aio pump headers on the bottom. How am i supposed to route the aio pump cable? I was thinking about having it going straight down from the cpu across the mobo and somehow hiding it with the gpu. Would you guys recommend something like that?
