If you work with Active Only you make sure that timings or especially useful phaser values, are only applied to the running things in your programmer. Or as in Arias example, you want to adjust timings in your cuelist without having it in the programmer. You can also use this feature for busking shows to decide whether you want to touch presets running in the programmer or values in your programmed sequences.
