thanks for your comment--so sorry to hear you aren't able to have a midwife with your birth this time. it's great that you received that care the last time--the benefits of midwifery care extend well beyond birth. wishing you a blessed pregnancy and birth and that you and your baby will get the care that you need.
A profound description of midwifery:...a combination of art, science and relationship based care... Fantastic videos, thank you so much for the inspiration!
thanks so much for commenting, heron! you are right! and your mom is so great! jill's amazing wisdom, experience and radiance (and the fact that she's a fellow mainer) help make this project so special! so glad that so many others are getting a taste of that, too.
Oh this made me *really* miss my midwife and reminded me of how much I love her. We've been through so much together. I hate that I cannot have a natural birth this time around and that I cannot have my beloved midwife with me at the birth of this child.
I want to become a midwife! I'm at my last year of secondary school (I'm 15) and going to college next September. I can't wait for college and Uni and now I'm guaranteed a career out of it because there is not enough midwives in the UK and the NHS are crying out for them! I cannot wait for this adventure :D
My mother Jill, and these other great women (in fact every woman) are telling us something. Are we listening? To me it is: If we, as a society, deny natural birth whenever possible, we deny ourselves and our children the first taste of humanity and health we can offer and ever experience. It is simple. Midwifery legal everywhere, c-section rates of 10% or less. Now. Today. Thanks for everything Mom!
Oh!! This is so lovely!! I live in a state that does not allow midwives at all!! I am extremely interested in becoming a midwife as I think this is a true calling for me.. How would I go about getting more information on training? Would I have to relocate? How many years would I have to train? What kind of certifications would I need?
We love this, thank you!!!
