Cant help but keep thinking of Alice from the resident movies when I see the artwork on the box you bought. Cracking work sir. Looking forward to more.
March 25, 2022---Got back into modeling, but going for 1/35 scale realistic dioramas, meaning NO Mad Max stuff. Got something like 5 of the Zombie Hunter kits and as for motorcycles, there's not many options. Have a bunch of WW 2 bikes as used by Americans, British, Germany and Italian armies. It is, what it is. However, Tamiya has a modern dirt bike as used by the JSDF. And Bronco came out with a ATV w/cart if you're looking for something different. And I think they've also got a large, flat bed kind of atv used to carry stretchers or pallets of ammo. But then with so much stuff NOT available as a kit, started downloading free 3D printer files, with me having around 6-7K worth of stuff. I mean, anyone out there ever see a kitchen sink or toilet as a kit? Bought 2 resin printers and next month will learn how to use 'em and print up a bunch of stuff.
Not that my opinion counts for anything, but I think you've done an excellent job of this. Really enjoyed watching it. Great vision and expert skills. Top drawer lad.
As a modeler who's lived a blue collar real life, those buildings and that alley are darned near perfect. I suggest industrial-style trash in the alley- something that resembles chunks of broken machinery castings too heavy to move and not worth salvaging or stealing, and some broken pallets along with the more common cardboard/paper/weeds. For those who think the large graffiti art at the top of the building is inappropriate, remember that the artists are fond of climbing on top of buildings and hanging over the side while working.
Thanks Mark. I've made a couple of broken pallets, but I love the broken machinery idea. Just something random and large, too big to be dragged away or useful. I like it - thanks for the suggestion mate.
@@ModelNerd You're welcome. Most viewers may not recognize a lathe or power hammer, but they should be able to say "Ooh, industrial machinery". For that matter a ratty old rusted truck engine sitting awkwardly on a pallet would fit too.
Thanks Simon! The project took a while (I started in March!), mainly because I've enjoyed the freedom of scratch building and being "allowed" to add whatever strange new idea I think of :)
Thanks mate. That's one thing I've found has drawn me to scratch building - you really can go where you want with it. In fact I decided last week that I wasn't happy with the road on this dio, so I replaced it with a better (hopefully) surface this morning.
Looks really good so far - really nice work on that building. Somebody really should have a word with Masterbox about their box art. That's not the first time I've seen their box art not reflect what's in the kit. Great video, looking forward to next part.
Very good and love the fact you show your initial research as that's the hardest part of any art based project. Always good to show the problems encountered and solutions, the mindset of an artisan. Looking forward to the next episode.
It's amazing what you've done with all the bits and pieces from your spares box.....stellar job and great commentary. Will be eager to see what the next episode brings and how the whole scene comes together.
Really liked the doors. I was dubious it was the right thing to do but what a great look it turned into. I like so much the description of the process it is inspiring me to make an effort in the future with my models. 👍😁👊
Oh my, that looks fantastic! I am trying myself to make post apocalyptic dio but i don't really know how to approach the topic. These figures are nowhere to be found in my country so i guess the only way is to use resin figures or scratch building, which i never tried before.
Thanks Michal. I'd definitely recommend giving it a go - I found scratch building a lot of fun and very rewarding. You can start with some reference photos of the type of location you're interested in (e.g. in the first video I used a lot of images of old factories) and then lots of images of how buildings decay and how nature reclaims them (the nature aspect will be video 3 for me!). As for the figures - could you try eBay or even Amazon? Masterbox have also recently released a few figures that would work. They're in the "Desert Battle" series but would look good in a post apocalyptic dio.
@@ModelNerd thanks for the advise. These desert battle series figures are avaliable in my store, so will be easy to get, though i was goimg for something different. When it comes to scratch building what materials are suitable? Is this possible to use airdry clay? I have a figure of russian soldier, perfect for stalker figure.
Good evening Modelcomrade The buildings take me the breath 👍💪realy The Zombie hunter kit i have too Thanks for the Inspiration. Just kidding😃 I will hope to see Part two AMAZING HAMMER 👍DEMADED GOOD work
Model Nerd Have a similar idea but in response to two lovely resin figures I recently purchased but in 75mm. Just finishing work to I can watch the rest of your video😀
Thanks Kev. Spares *boxes* actually :) Far too many spare parts - you tend to get quite a few once you've built some Dragon kits or some older Tamiya kits that have seen several re-releases :)
Thank you Alan. I don't have the model to hand at the moment (still packed after moving) but it is approximately 20cm x 20cm, and probably closer to 30cm high.
@@alanmccune6605 Not a pain at all - these are things I should have mentioned in the video. It's been a while but I think it was 10mm thick. Thicker would be fine - thinner probably wouldn't be. Since I put the bricks on it, the type of foam doesn't matter - e.g. you could use regular styrofoam because the rough texture would be covered anyway.
@@alanmccune6605 No worries mate. They have several I think, but it definitely wasn't English bond - that pattern is very distinctive, with half bricks.
I have this same brick mould, the best way to get a perfect cast is to wash them with rinse aid and leave them a little bit damp when casting.
Thanks Paul, good tip

Very nice work, I love the set and details.

Thanks David - I really appreciate that.
The cracks add to the over all look and fit well.
Thanks. I'd say that was by design but, er...... it wasn't :). That's the great thing about building abandoned buildings though :)
Very interesting diorama, thank you for sharing that ---^ and showing piece by piece :=) and the details are awsome!
Thank you Cecilia

Very impressive, I will have to use some of these methods for future build on my channel.
Wow, very interesting! I like the buildings! Would look good with a few Kate war tanks... eagerly awaiting pt 2!
Thanks. I was going to squeeze an abandoned vehicle in the alley but unfortunately there wasn't room.
Creativity and good use of reference material at its finest. Great job done, looking forward to see the next one.
Thanks - much appreciated!
This diorama is amazing! I can't wait to see part 2! Great job!
Thanks Thomas - much appreciated!
Great work at the building diorama !👍✌️🥇🏆

Incredible details, love what you did with those doors!

That take a lot of time and thought as well
SUUUPERB !
Thanks mate :)
Really well done mate! Can't wait for part 2
Thanks mate. I've just finished some oil paint effects on the buildings...a couple of weeks and I think I'll be done :)
Looks awesome so far. Looking forward to part 2. Subscribed!
Thanks for the sub!
Very cool! I love the attention to detail.
Thanks Ryzer
It's all in the details.
Can't wait to see the next episode please
Thanks Roger. I should have it ready in 2-3 uploads time (today's will be the Jordan 197 and the next should be the Matilda in the caunter scheme)
Love the details. Very well explained.
Thanks mate. I'm just editing part 2 of the video as we speak.

OUTSTANDING WORK! Do you use a script for your narration? Clear, concise, informative and articulate. A pleasure to hear and from which to learn.
Thanks Lawrence, much appreciated. I usually write an "outline script" with key points I want to cover.
very nice, thanks for the info that the bike is not included

Can you tell me what the dimensions are for the buildings as I might have a go at something myself

Hi where did you get the brick wall panels
Hi Alan. I got the molds for them from Diorama Debris.

Good job, in future, free hand the graffiti, the decals look too perfect to be urban.
They'll be toned down, don't worry 🙂
Just a comment for the algorithm.
It's resident evil not zombieland
Not sure what you mean mate?
