When they replaced this body style with the more crossover looking generation about ten years ago, I remember people commenting that it was hideous and this was way better looking. At the time, I disagreed, but now, over a decade later, I agree with them. I like this styling way better.

@@malachi3438 I must've always been old then my whole life. I still would prefer a 1989 Lincoln Town Car over this.
I just totaled my shared car with my mom, a 2007-2008 escape, and I miss it so much! The newer ones are hideous! If they remake is this model, I'd get it in a heartbeat! I drive a lot so we need a replacement soon, and I didn't really like the Ford fusion, or the 2014 C-Max hybrid. Ended up with a 2015 C-Max hybrid, and it's not bad! In the end, I'd rather have my ancient escape back. It was my childhood car, and what I learned to drive in. Being 19 doesn't give me much experience I know, but I loved that car!
I have a 06 mariner hybrid and I just love how smooth they drive. And they get up and go when you need the power! Averaged 35.5 mpgs on the highway with mine.
This was my mom's car when I was a kid growing up. She had it for 11 years before a deer jumped infront of it on the highway. Throughout those 11 years, there was never an issue with the car and I feel really nostalgic whenever I see that brown plastic interior. I can still feel the click of the volume knobs and the hexagonal rubber trim in front of the glove box, hear the whine it made when it started up and smell the recycled tire interior on a hot summers day. My mom and I had a lot of good times in that car and I still miss it to this day.

We’ve had my mom bought this same model when I was 5 I’m 19 now we just sold it and bought a another used one a 2010 we had a 2009 the 2009 one last 300k miles till we sold it the 2010 one we have now 200k miles still working great now
bad news. sad news
I rented a car like this in crater lake and I don’t know why a deer jumped in to it
This was my moms car too haha, until she passed away, now its mine, its got 130,000 miles on it and still runs great but there is some issues, oil is leaking from somewhere, smalls amounts, not a big deal, but the brakes are funky, sometimes i will be driving and when taking a turn, it will feel like i hit a bump and then my brake pedal looses nearly all its tension, and i have to push much further to stop, still trying to figure out whats going on there
15 years old and still runs great
Thinking of getting one with 220-250 kms I see them lasting to 300- close to 400
Except the rear shocks come right off the frame due to faulty manufacturing.
2012 2.5L Ford Escape w/416,000 miles - regular oil changes, normal maintenance schedule, very few broken parts - 1 accident, everything replaced by myself - still running strong!
I can't complain, love the car and my dogs do too! I'll keep this car til it goes kaput!
You mean to tell me that little notch at the bottom of the tail gate was fake this entire time??? I thought that was the trunk release 😂🤦🏻♂️
That’s actually so stupid of a design. I thought the same thing…I feel duped
Right. Looking closely, at 0:50 it's just an empty handle. That's a wasteful expense. Maybe, upon further inspection, it was a hatch to the tailgate latch. But wouldn't that mean a thieves access door?
What's funny to me is the notch exists on the 2013- Ford Escapes and that's where the liftgate release button is but my friends always reach under the lip and end up pushing my backup camera instead.
@@michaelcritton3115 are you real or not real
They did the same thing on our 21 Explorer fire car, there’s a cut out in the back bumper that would make you believe that the release is there but it’s not, I hate that stupid design
I used to have a 2008 ford escape limited. Loved it. It was great in the snow
What car do you have now?
My favorite generation Escape. We owned a 2016 (new) and remember thinking that we should have just found a low mileage 2010 hybrid and save money.
That is amazingly clean inside considering the mileage.
My cousin has one of these in ligh blue.
$3,500 isn't bad, and 300,000 isn't all that bad, considering they've gone 500,000 as NYC taxi cabs.
I'd drive this.
Thanks for starting it up from the inside! I also really liked that high-beams light on the gauge cluster and the headlight stalk sound were featured on this video. It should be a thing on all of these videos, in my opinion.
2008-2012 ford escape hybrids: the 4 years of very reliable cars. It's absurd how many miles these cars rack up on average before failure.
These are great lil suvs. I bought one in the same color from the government sale a few years back for a relative and it has proven itself to be bulletproof. It had about 120k miles. XLT base trim. AWD. But ran and drive perfect. So clean. I paid $7000 for it then. These escapes hold their value !!
I’ve never seen one hard loaded like the one you have here. Rare bird
A fishing buddy of mine has the first generation Ford Escape.
It has the 2.3L 4cyl with an automatic transmission.
He’s Not been kind to his Escape . The previous owner babied it and sold it to him for $500. It had 250K miles on it.
He now has about 350K miles on the clock.
I baby my Ranger when we go off roading to our fishing spot, whereas he beats the soup outta the Escape.
It still doesn’t burn any oil. He told me that he was going to drive it till it drops.
This is the kind of car of when I see him driving him I'm really happy
The 2.3L naturally aspirated 4cyl was by far superior engine ever built by Ford.
We’re on our 4th Ford Ranger.
The first 2 Ranger’s had the 2.3L 4cyl engine.
On our 1st Ranger we had 270K miles on it. My wife didn’t put it in 4WD, hit a patch of ice and flipped it in a ditch. Thankfully my wife was ok, but it totaled the pickup.
When our 2nd Ranger had just over 500,000 miles, the electrical system fried on the pickup, so we turned it out to just use on our 10K acre ranch. We got the headlights to work, but that was about it. It finally died at around 650K miles.
Our 3rd Ranger was an absolute Dog of a truck. It had the 3.0 V6 and by the time it had only 80K miles it was burning a leaking oil like crazy, so we sold it. We did tell the new owners that the engine needed a rebuild.
After that we drove our F150s and F250s with the 4.9L (300 cid) In-line 6cyl. They didn’t have a lot of hp but they had a TON of Low End torque. Our F350s had both gasoline and Diesel engines.
In 2019 our needs had changed so we started looking around for a low mileage Ranger.
We needed more HP and Torque than the 2.3L offered, so we found a 2011 Ranger XLT super cab 4x4 with a 4.0L V6. It has a 5spd auto transmission, LSD, tow pkg, skid plates (though it’s never been off road unless I’m going to my fishing hole).
The original owner was 62 when he bought it new in 2011.
He added running boards, custom wheels, and a dashboard cover.
We’ve added a LineX spray in bed liner. We didn’t care for the Silver paint so I had it 2 toned in Silver over Red metallic. The upholstery was Gloomy Grey and Boring Black so I had it reupholstered in Red with black trim. I added adjustable air shocks in the rear (we haul a lot of top soil, retaining wall bricks, gravel and firewood).
I also had it pinstriped in red metallic.
I use to get 19mpg on the freeway with the cruise set on 75mph.
I then added a K&N cold air intake, a Free Flowing (tuned) exhaust headers and a 4” FlowMaster exhaust system. I now consistently get 23mpg. This increased my hp, torque and mpg. Not only is it capable of hauling heavy loads, but now it can haul ass too.
We mainly use the Ranger for work around our property . It’s 12 years old now but has only 35K original miles.
Like all of our vehicles, I change the oil and filter every 4K miles with Kirkland Full Synthetic motor oil.
I change the front and rear differential, transfer case and a transmission flush every 30K miles. The radiator is back flushed and new antifreeze every 3 years.
When we bought it in 19, it had only 20K miles. The man who we bought it from bought a new F150. KBB booked it out for $22K, but we bought it for $18K. Now that used vehicle prices have gone up, it now books out for $25K, not including everything that I’ve done to it.
Last summer I had 2 individuals who wanted to buy it. One offered me $25K and the other one offered $28K.
It’s NOT for sale.
My wife and I plan on keeping it until we can no longer drive or until we die.
If I had to replace my current Ranger with a new one with all the customizations that I’ve made to it. I’d have to spend around $60K.
Our nephew (who has a 2010 like ours with almost 250K miles wants first dibs if we decide to sell ours). His dad, my brother in law also wants our Ranger.
Like I’ve said, it’s Not for sale. We will let family fight over it when we’re gone.
I’ve heard that Ford is having problems with the turbos in the current generation of the new Ranger’s, but the engine’s are still strong.
2nd Gen Escapes are still the best design. There's a reason the Bronco Sport is so popular these days. They should have just badged it the Escape, and dropped the Kuga. I've got a '03 XLT and '10 Limited, both V6 FWD and they are still going strong.
Put 88,000 miles on my 14 Fusion hybrid without a single issue before trading it in, ford hybrids surprisingly are very reliable
It's Toyota technology
@@JD-ml7cg I know and concede to that, but didn’t know that when I first bought it so was pleasantly surprised lol
It is Toyota Technology? I didn't know that. my wife has a Mustang and that thing is just a breakdown machine, God damn thing was broken from the first day she bought it

Hermoso. Uno de mis monteros preferidos. Sencillo y con formas rectangulares llenas de armonía. Se oye la potencia. ¡Aaahhh! es una nave preciosa. GRACIAS
I really like hybrids, they have best of both worlds, ice for power, ev for low power driving
I love my 2011 ford escape the v6 does have some power with awd in the snow its really fun
Спасибо, за обзор не только новых автомобилей, но и тех кто старше )
These were pretty good cars. The hybrid ones got exceptional fuel economy. The main problem (in the rust belt) is that they rust BAD, and very quickly.
I did drove a 2009 Ford Escape as a loaner car. It was not a hybrid one. I had it about 9 days accidentally a little over 2 days. Luckily that I wasn’t charged for those 2 days. My mother said that I looked good in it. I even drove my sister’s 2002 Ford Escape for a short distance at night before her marriage towards her husband. I had a 2015 Ford Escape SE it died on me in mid March of last year. I had that vehicle for almost 5 years of driving it. Now I drive a 2020 Ford Escape SE in black. I got it on the same day as my old one died. I really liked my 2020 Ford Escape. I just liked the curves and how smooth the ride is.
I've been driving one for the past nine months or so, and while it drives nice, I have not had the same reliability as some others in the comments section. When we got it, some wires were crossed on the transmission, causing the car to go completely dead. Then, just a few days ago, the front differential blew (most likely due to improper maintenance from the guy who worked on it previously), taking the rear one with it. I just hope that this is the last major repair, as we have spent damn near close to $10k for repairs on a car we paid $3.5k for.
my 2009 xlt v6 4wd just hit 180k miles, still working strong!
Original tranny still working ok or did you rebuild?
I like the exterior and interior of this car. Boxy and retro

Too bad the hybrid system would only work when the AC was off...
The entire hybrid system was functional all the time, it had to be to move the vehicle. Did you own one of these?
