It still cracks me up to see this today and I probably say it eight or nine times. I read an interview with them once where he was raised in Tupelo Mississippi and born into poverty but he said that he was lucky enough to have parents that told him to consider other people's feelings so, when it came to his fans wanting autographs or even kisses like this, he had to respect that because he said that they were sincere in their interest and therefore it had to be honored. What a great way to think.

What a fantastic reaction!! Elvis sincerely loved his fans and they loved him. Most men were honored if he kissed their wife or girlfriend. But he did have to defend himself physically on occasion from some jealous guys. You're right that he was humble. As far as I know, his fans, anyone who ever met him, knew him or worked with him always spoke about how kind and respectful he was to everyone. At his home he often went to his gate to talk with fans and sign autographs.
I was lucky enough to see Elvis in concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma 1974. I was only 7 and don't remember the whole concert but I do remember the beginning, the end, and when he introduced his band and singers, along with a couple of songs. Thanks to my dad for being an Elvis fan cause I'm one also, always.
