look how much that buck dropped after the shot..luckily you knew to aim low..if that pin was centered on those vitals that arrow easily would have went rite over his back..always amazed me how much they can drop when startled from noise..gene and barry wensel's book was the best deer hunting book i ever read..as a kid myself and friends always payed close attention to what they call the drop zone..it is 100% accurate at the distances a deer can duck an arrow as they describe in there book..
My ma had a deer, not sure how many points it was, but his antlers were almost like candlesticks. So his nickname was “candlesticks” my ma never got him. She inspires me to learn to hunt. And I’m starting next year in the 2020 season in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan! Can’t wait!
I am from PA. I hunted the same buck for 5 years. As the old saying goes, " with age comes experience and wisdom. How true with bucks.it was like we had gotten to know one another. It took me alot of mountain time, scouting, archery hunting (i used also for homework for rifle season ).Getting to know the buck. Finally, i got him in rifle season, hoping i could've gotten him in archery. I walked up to him and i sat beside him and petted his head for a good 1/2 hour. Our time together sadly, came to an end. His name was Tuffy.
Pa here. I've been hunting this old sob for 3 years. When they say old buck can be blind and still navigate is the truth. 5 days left of archery and I'm praying
I saw my first trophy buck very similar to this one. It was too early to shoot, I wasn't sure if I had a clear shot anyway. I stood up hoping he'd come closer but he crossed a trail instead of following it. Well I didn't move but he spotted me anyway. He looked, moved his head side to side and walked off quickly. I'm hoping no one got him. Next season I'm hoping I'll be better prepared. Thanks for the video 👍🏿
I seen one this year very similar to this buck. I'm hoping no one got him because I know where he crosses at. it's in a narrow strip of land you can only use a bow in.
Whats really interesting is how "Curly" heard the bow before he was hit by the arrow which caused his body to drop. A detail a lot of hunters do not think about when putting their bow together and can make you miss a shot by over shooting the deer. Not saying this bow was bad at all, just a detail I noticed from this hunt and I thought the shot went over the deer at first from when his body dropped. I would like to see where the arrow hit just for curiosity but still a great job and hunt!!
Ducking the arrow is easily explained , the speed of sound is moving faster than the arrow . The only way that this can be avoided on any bow or even a crossbow , is if some one could actually invent a bow to shoot faster than the speed of sound . It’s just a natural reaction of the deer to drop and run like hell at a loud or odd sound . Ain’t nature a bitch some times , LOL !!!! I still love to hunt them with anything though , you just have to figure in a few things that are going to happen !!! Stay after em’ and good luck .
whata beauty!!!! Classic !!! Nice , FAST!!! HE WAS FAST!!! ! 1/10 of a second he dropped! While eating!!! Why such white horns? Had A unique wildness to him, Trail cams are what really did it, that and your good shoot'n !! great job!
My dad just killed a deer we named curly it scored 150 now we have another deer we named curly’s son that ran with him during summer and looks exactly like him he’s about a year or two old and is 110 8 point
If im bein honest scent is overrated, or at least where im from, all the time deer will come in down wind of me and nothing happens, they dont care, they still come in
I bet I watch this at least once a month. Amazing buck, amazing story, amazing footage, couldn’t have happened to a better person! What a story!
I like that he said, "I think I got him" after thw shot instead of fist pumping and jumping up and down before the track has even started.
Rip Curly, a beautiful, well lived, best rack buck
What an INCREDIBLE BEAST OF A BUCK!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Whenever a deer come back every year on my trail camera, I consider him as family, even though I want to get em.
I'd consider him dinner 🙋🏻♂️

watch Midwest whitetails video about deer and droping the shot. explains everything about it.

It’s called jumping the string.
Killer video!
Nice buck
10:25 please someone tell me what that music track is called, it’s incredible!
Awesome buck
Thats how i felt after a 110 in 8 but a boone and crockett oh man
What part of mn is this from I think we had this buck on our property
looked more like swirling winds by the way of the grass but still impressive no doubt
Where can i get the phaze scent controll products???
Some of these big older bucks need to be hunted from the ground, they are just too smart to get out of a tree, great hunt

Every single buck I have on camera are at night they never move during they day😂
😂 lol
Did his brow tine never grow back?
Nice
What part of Minnesota? I’m a big hunter from the upper part of Minnesota!
So am still pretty new to hunting and i have no idea what pre-rut means
This is a year late but pre-rut means before mating season.
@@cjsmith6097pre rut is when the bucks are starting to look for does in early stage of estrus usually mid to late October 1st week of November
The.song of hunt
You got him a little high
Don’t get me wrong he is an incredible buck👊🏻 but you called him a str8 10 he is a 9 point buck!!!
Tracy Meadows straight 10/10 rated deer lol
Curly had a sticker on his left antler, so he would still be considered a 10 point, despite that broken browtine
I am a young hunter I could only dream of hitting him that’s the most majestic animal I have ever seen
My dad just killed a deer we named curly it scored 150 now we have another deer we named curly’s son that ran with him during summer and looks exactly like him he’s about a year or two old and is 110 8 point
In the stand you looked soooooo nervous
He was on the ground not I. A stand
I shot one that looks just like this with a crossbow from the ground at 15 years old!! In ontario
Dang!!
Funny I have a buck i named curly too! Lol
I'd imagine it's a great deer but I got a dollar that it ain't as big as this curly
Good jerky
what part of MN?
What part of se ? County maybe.
Likely Houston County. My guess anyway
I would have a F ing heart attack if i even seen a quarter or HALF of the deer you guys shoot..... VERY COOL hunt but VERY SAD at the same time.....
Dude looks like a more human Mark Zuckerburg.
Yo he does 😂
If im bein honest scent is overrated, or at least where im from, all the time deer will come in down wind of me and nothing happens, they dont care, they still come in
