    Hello friends. Congrats on the video. Regarding the headsail, which system do you think is the most effective between the top-down furler and the sock? And by effective I mean easy to be used by a shorthanded crew.

      We tried the top down furler before on Eight but weren’t impressed

    Hi - nice to see you sailing in the Ijsselmeer as I know it very well from many years ago. Am thinking of buying a Lagoon52 as well. Could you give me a feeling for the annual costs for maintenance of the boat? have a good flight back to Greece

    • @CatGreatcircle
      @CatGreatcircle  6 лет назад

      Hi Peter, depends of course mainly on how and where you use it. Biggest cost in our case would be storage during winter about 6k last year including in/out and the expensive anti fouling Lagoon uses. Maybe we keep sailing this winter, antifouling is good for 2 years. There’s the normal engine maintenance of course, not different from other boats. We didn’t have any significant issues, except for the usual new boat warranty things that we’re all solved via our dealer Nautisch Kwartier. In an honest calculation you have to take periodic replacement of the sails into account, depends how long you’re going to hold on to it.

    could you tell us what you found diffenrent between the two cats, liked or disliked?

    • @CatGreatcircle
      @CatGreatcircle  6 лет назад +2

      I’ll give it a try but please focus on the differences as like or dislike is often depending on circumstances and personal taste and experience.
      The Saona has a nice seating area on the roof next to the helm station where the 52 has a nicer seating area at the front
      I personally don’t like the setup of the helm station of the Saona, where steering and navigation is separated from the winches. For us it is more a working station during manoeuvres and sail changes, and this works perfectly on the Lagoon.
      The salon of the Saona is cosier and feels as big as the one on the 52. The cockpit of the 52 is clearly spacier and nicer. Depends on sailing area what is more important.
      The decks of the Saona feel more solid then we experienced at earlier FP’s. I don’t know why but steering feels more solid and accurate on the Lagoon, maybe because we’re used to it.
      Speeds are about the same, according to Robbert the Saona should be a few tenths slower, but for a cruising catamaran the difference is not significant. We like the sail setup of the newer Lagoons with the mast further back and a large enough self tacking jib. This works really well in combination with our code 0 and covers the most common circumstances. Robbert has made special winches lines and controls on his Saona which enable him to control the sails even from the saloon.
      The 52 is over 30 square meters bigger and this of course results in bigger cabins.
      In the Saona you can go directly from the hull into the bow, Robbert made fabulous storage space over there. In the 52 the bows are separated compartments with entry from above.
      The anchor system of the Saona goes directly down where at the Lagoon it first goes forward to the beam.
      We love our Tenderlift, but you can probably install it on a FP as well.

    There are waterproof drones on the market ...

    • @CatGreatcircle

      Would very much like the P5 to be water proof. Or the water proof drones like Splash to get to the DJI level of usability and performance.
      Must say the water hasn’t been a problem for us yet (knock on wood)

      I think to be on a boat, a waterproof drone is the way to go, even if it is less comfortable. Just the risk every time to lose this quite expensive item is taking most of the fun. It even doesn't have to be your fault. I saw, for example, a waterproof drone at the La Grand Motte Multihull show 2 years ago. You could attach any camera you like.
