Gen 35:21 Hamor and Shekem say to their people this false covenant will bring peace and safety. Verse 30 Jacob says “you have brought trouble on me!” It brings to mind “the time of Jacob’s trouble” which begins with a deceptive false covenant where Israel will think they are in peace and security and midway through the “week” the covenant is forsaken and the beast begins to slaughter them. This looks like a direct reversal of this instance. It also reminds me of the rebuke from Yeshua and Sa’ul about circumcising gentiles without them having any understanding of what they are doing with this Set Apart instruction from YHWH.
