If you're in the market for a new OLED monitor, check out the (pretty damn good) LG UltraGear Black Friday deals: 39GS95QE (41% OFF): bit.ly/3AxyFR3 45GS95QE (41% OFF): bit.ly/3YXgFsY 34GS95QE (38% OFF): bit.ly/3YTsUql 32GS95UV (29% OFF): bit.ly/4fCbK6e 27GS95QE (28% OFF): bit.ly/3CheirQ Also, I didn't plan this but it's not too surprising- Two of the keyboards in the video are on a Black Friday sale right now. The RK61 and K630 are both $10 off. Not too shabby!
People are now into TV's as monitors, because they are now getting much cheaper in price while keeping the same quality. I am thinking about buying a 65 or 75 inch TV and use it as a computer monitor. Either that, or pulling the living room TV into my computer room hehehe 😂
SO WORTH IT. Kept wondering why after upgrading GPU that I couldn't use HDR and it was monitor issue. Started looking and LG Ultragear was a lot more vibrant and found it for those prices a month or so ago. Was initially disappointed with resolution so tried a Samsung Odyssey G8 or G9, I think it was a mistake and couldn't even last a week from issues with it. Don't need a Smart Monitor that is what the PC is for. Turns out lower resolution on Ultragear is better as I don't need to turn up UI scale on stuff and with it being bigger it is noticeably much easer working in Affinity, Unity, and other programs. Still using multiple monitors for sides but definitely worth the money.
The RK61 was popular a few years ago in the mechanical keyboard hobby for being a very moddable board at a good price, it's kind of crazy what people were able to get out of this board. Flurples' video on this board is a stand out to me
I love my RK61. I use it as the keyboard for my LAN rig, and it's served me without a single issue for years now. I picked it up on sale for $40, and at that price, it's an absolute no brainer to pick up.
I got a royal kludge RK100 with red switches a couple of months back and i have been soo impressed with how it types and how well built of a keyboard it is. Also the rgb lighting is fantastic. I've never heard about this brand before i got it and i can say that i would buy this brand again.
Please do a series on this! There are a lot of peripherals out there for low prices that are great, and it's fun to laugh at the terrible ones as well.
I've had an RK61 in my sim rig for the last year. Tape/foam mod, Gateron V2 Yellow Pros, and new keycaps. Added some wight to the case and it's great. Edit: It also came with a coiled aviator cable for $50.
i got a red dragon a few weeks ago. i absolutely love it. its the first time i actually looked into what all the color names of mechanical keybords meant, got the brown, and between that, and the keyboards features, its my favorite ever now.
Redragon has other models with all the multimedia stuff. A lot of these affordable brands are weird about that. They'll have so many models with all the functions, then one model will randomly have none. That is usually the one I accidentally buy without noticing....
I tried a 60% board that I got from a liquidation shop. Everything was fine except that I just couldn't get past not having arrow keys. Then I tried two different MageGee which both broke (keys just stopped working, and the switch was not the problem). Now I have an Epomaker EK68 (a 65% board) and am very happy with it. The volume knob is better than a volume key, and it often is on sale for less than $50. I also have a Logitech G413 TKL at work. So many great options for
Would love to see you review more. I personally just got an AJAZZ AK820 Pro with their "gift" switches. I am in love with how this thing sounds and it's functionality right out of the box. Volume knob and tri-mode. I got mine on sale for $37.99 and I've typed on keyboards that cost way more that don't sound and feel as good out of the box.
60% is not for me, but my first mechanical keyboard was an RK. Worked well for a few years until the e key went bad, glad to see they offer extra switches now. Via is great and what use with my Keychron Q6 pro, because volume knob for the win, and nice to have a layer where the num pad is just a macro pad.
I don't know about 60% keyboards - even a TKL wouldn't work for me since I use the numpad pretty much all the time. But I got something that suits me - a Cherry MX Board 3.0 S. Also fully backlit, some programmable extra function keys, surprisingly good software and MX Brown switches (and I think those are actually the latest Hyperglide version). I'm very happy with it - quite the improvement over my previous keyboard with MX Red switches. I never really got used to them.
I have a RK M75 that i use with the TV setup, only bad thing i have to say about it is i disliked the linear red that came with it, slaped some tactile in it and now i love it.
I bought the bigger brother of the RK61 this year, the RK84. It has a function row and is wireless. I like it very much for casual gaming on the couch.
I have the HK and Royal Kludge. Out of the box, the HK is lacking. But I got the optical version just to try out having an optical board and after modding, it sounded and felt a lot better. I didn't mind having to mod considering the price. The Royal Kludge out of the box was a total winner for the price. The great thing about these keyboards is they moved the Fn key so that you had an easier time hitting things like the arrow keys. But as much as I love the Royal Kludge, I still can't throw away the HK Gaming board. I keep it as a spare just because it's been modded to what I like.
Nice comparision. I have a cheap 60% one from Amazon called "Newmen" that I use from my couch just to do basic things as one of my PCs is connected to our living room tv as a PC console. Totally does the job well for that use case. I think it was only $20ish too. My main keyboard is still a full-sized Logitech Chonker at my desk setup.
Somehow I was able to put together a fully custom keyboard for 65 euro from aliexpress and it looks and feel super great. There is nice stuff for cheap too out there
I have one similar to the HK, but it has Optical blacks, and I've modded it with some extra foam and fixed the stabs..it's actually pretty good now and it only cost me like $30 well over a year ago. One of the positives with these cheap boards, they're not hard to mod, and they're not so expensive that you have to worry about breaking it if you do.
I have been pretty impressed by the Montech MKey TKL mechanical keyboard, but it is a bit more expensive then these at $70-$80 (Although at the moment the Red key Darkness version is $55 at amazon on a black Friday deal), there is also a full size version for $80-$90. It comes with hot-swappable Gateron Pro 2.0 pre-lubed switches in Brown, Yellow or Red. Mine has the Brown switches and they seem pretty good to me. It has a nice metal volume wheel, something that I consider a must. I also really like the PBT keycaps which feel premium and have a nice slightly rough texture, but they are not shine through so that might be a deal breaker for some. The keyboard comes in 2 really nice colorways Freedom and Darkness. The RGB seems alright, but it is south facing, that is supposed to be better for keyboard sound and feel somehow, but worse for shine through key-caps. I find it more annoying as you can kind of see the leds under the keys, but I dislike RGB so I just leave it off anyway. It is pretty decently weighted and has nice rubberized flip out feet, really the only con on the construction is the plastic frame but it is a decent plastic at least, and that plate that the switches attach to is metal. They also put is some sound dampening and the keys are pre-lubed so it sounds and feels decent from the start. Overall I have had it for about a year now and I'm pretty happy with it. I expect that there are better switches out there then the Gateron Pro 2.0 Browns, but these are the best that I have used out of a pretty limited selection of mostly just Cherry, Kalih, and Gateron switches that I have had in my previous much worse keyboards from Logitech, Gigabyte and some random Chinese brands.
As someone who owns several budget mechanical keyboards, including multiple from RK and Redragon, I knew exactly how this was going to play out as soon as I saw the boxes. In fact, I'm using a gasket-mounted keyboard from the winning company to watch this video. 🙂 It's a joy to type on.
I'd certainly toss the Keychron V4 QMK into the mix, as right now during Black Week it goes for under 50 dollars. It's a great keyboard. Normally it goes for 79 dollars.
I really miss Awesome Hardware collab. Don't really know what happened there but was some really fun content that comes of two sincere people being real.
I like my red dragon keyboard and mouse. Got them back in 2019 and they are going strong to this day. I feel like their quality dropped during Covid though
Beside all the proven options I had in years I went twice for budget options. First one was magicforce 68, it's been probably 10 years, that thing works great up to date. Had numerous premium solutions since then, some were barely better in any regard, some (very few) noticeably but at much much higher price. To cut the story short I read a great review on Fantech a year ago. Got their modular keyboard. Never again, never... Bloody thing basically didn't have QoC.
An even better option: Instead of $50, save up $65 and get an Aula F75 with Ice vein switches, they go on deals sometimes, miles better than any keyboard on this list, thank me later.
I went from Redragon to RK, and i kinda prefer the RK, but the redragon was also fantastic. Sadly it got covered in beer and never worked the same again. I just got a redragon mouse to replace my 11 year old corsair mouse though. Haven't got to use it yet.
I'm in the market for a full size keyboard (with 10-key), mechanical switches, rgb (per-key programmable through software and color chart rgb and hex code), full size keys (none of that chicklet low profile stuff), with the possibility of having additional macro-programmable G keys (8 or 16)... what do you got for me? I have a Logitech G910 Orion Spark right now.
Full size boards are usually more expensive. Most people don't use a numpad and would rather have the extra available desk space. The best combo is a 75% with an external numpad, you keep pretty much all the keys from a TKL in a more efficient format, you have the numpad you can use when needed; and when you don't, you have the extra space.
Why are 60% keyboards significantly more expensive than full-size keyboards? Shouldn’t they be cheaper if they’re smaller and have less material? This has always baffled me
They don't make as many of them as they do regular sized keyboards. I assume the manufacturing process favors the main bulk of their production, so having to change part of the production line for a small niche is probably the reason for the upcharge.
Typing on a Redragon K556PRO now. Its a full size KB but it is quite nice for the cost, though I agree Redragon's RGB is pretty weak. Dont even use it on mine.
Isnt it a little crazy to review 60% keyboards and criticize that they dont have volume knobs and have 3 functions on F keys? For me, i always go TKL because i never use the numpad but i never want to have to use several layers instead of pressing one key.
TKL all the way , I've had a few 60% keyboard Ducky one 2 mini , Corsair K65 RGB mini they're all too small for me I prefer Corsair K70 TKL or the basic Corsair K63 TKL
In short, they all fall short for me, the plastic, the keycaps, but not bad for $50, but the RK layering system sucks ass, i would hate that so much, shoudl have just been an extra key like the Fn key.
I use an internal sound card which comes with a volume knob which has connections on it for mic and headphones. so for me, I would much rather use the volume knob instead of a key press, just somethign satisfying about twisting a knob

Avoid HK Gaming, they have been caught stealing designs from community designers. They would steal keycap set designs, clone them and not give any credit to the original creators. Don't support that sort of behavior.
Rk is really good. Got the 68key and i love it more than my custom tofu. I was able to mod my RK and it sounds phenomenal. I have the video somewhere on my channel along with my tofu if you're curious.

i got the rk-s98 and it took a bit to get used to not having a 100, but it sounds perfect. the lcd and volume dial is the best part.
Just got a rk68 pro. I like it a lot, but i learned i that i hate linear switches so ive got silent tactile switches otw
@@gecolive do you guys actually need this many keys 😲
@radifhasan629 oh yeah. I do architectural 3d modeling . I can't live without the numbpad
yea, RK RK100 v2 is my first mech keyboard it's solid for everyday use.

Aye, Back to almost regular uploads.
Awesome

The HE version is surprisingly good, their software sucks though, I don't know if the software itself or their download page is sketchier.

I actually enjoy membrane keyboards. The only thing that matters to me is that it lights up so I can see it in the dark. Well that and being full size
Redragon Fizz Pro in white, its a banger, looks and feels amazing.
I have a RK M75 that i use with the TV setup, only bad thing i have to say about it is i disliked the linear red that came with it, slaped some tactile in it and now i love it.

I'm using a cheap $5 multicolored LED keyboard that I bought from Dollarama. Yes it feels cheap but it is a complete keyboard that gets the job done.
Redragon has good keyboards no cap!
Thanks for the tip! Just bought the Royal Kludge 60% with QMK/VIA, the white colour version on Amazon! 👌👍
i have that Redragon. I use it for my tech "go bag" that i take to repair/tech support friends/family/clients.

Wow, just in time, I will definitely get the RK61 as I am currently in need of a new keyboard. Thanks 😉👍

Ive been using the RK61 for a while now. I knew I liked it but I didnt know how it stacked up against the competition.
I love my Redragon Surara full size mechanical keyboard. It was under $40.
Multimedia controls on the keyboard are a must-have.
Beside all the proven options I had in years I went twice for budget options. First one was magicforce 68, it's been probably 10 years, that thing works great up to date. Do you think you could build a decent gas67 or GMK67 for sub 50?
RK is worth the little extra. Feels and sounds amazing compared to Red Dragon. I've had 5 different Red Dragon keyboards too.
Great video very helpful.
I vote for this format, I usually buy in the low budget range. :)
I recently found the old trs25 bushnell taken up by another reseller. Win i think. Stuff like that could be interesting.
Love my keychron k8 wireless iso keyboard. Works great for work (mac), desktop (windows/linux) and gaming(windows).
More how to mod a keyboard,. Can you make video about snap tab and holostic switches.

I have a $20 Powzan mechanical keyboard off Amazon that has been great for using at work
Should have reviewed the Redragon K617 with the magnetic HE keys for $50. Ridiculous deal for rapid trigger keyboard
miniseries would be good, do it!
nice reference to the one hit gotye
Redragon never again is good in the first days but tends to go busted from 13 days to 3 months. You need to RMA. Cheap plastic too...
I feel you missed an extremely good keyboard, for half the price. The magegee mechanical keyboard.
I use full size keyboards because I need the number pad…how about a guide to those plz?
China numba one. Also no numba pad, no buy.
Full size boards are usually more expensive.

Can you hack the main frame with it

I have pants that are cheaper than shorts too lol😂

Typing on a Redragon K556PRO now. Its a full size KB but it is quite nice for the cost, though I agree Redragon's RGB is pretty weak. Dont even use it on mine.
Yes
Hot Garbage N' Gems Mini Series!!
People complaining in the comments about 60% being too small, only for gamers etc. have no idea about us corne/sofle/iris people out there
Please make a video for 100% keyboards as well🙏
My daughter prefers her RoyalKludge to her Ducky One Two - that I spent MUCH more on.
Isnt it a little crazy to review 60% keyboards and criticize that they dont have volume knobs and have 3 functions on F keys? For me, i always go TKL because i never use the numpad but i never want to have to use several layers instead of pressing one key.
I recently got HyperX Alloy Origins 60 with red linear switches. The thing is so gooooood just the Ngenuity software is a letdown
No Keychron C3? My jaw is on the floor. Huge overlook, imho.
Hey LG, make a 1600p OLED please.
There goes that Mandela effect. It's actually Redragon not Reddragon.
TKL all the way , I've had a few 60% keyboard Ducky one 2 mini , Corsair K65 RGB mini they're all too small for me I prefer Corsair K70 TKL or the basic Corsair K63 TKL
Hot Garbage series definitely!
just on point , ty kyle
My 15 year old Logitech Wave says neener neener. 😎😁

60% keyboards are abominations against humanity.
Not if you play M&K on a first person shooter. The extra room on the desk is a game changer.
Avoid HK Gaming, they have been caught stealing designs from community designers.

60% keyboards are generally for gamers or people that want to save space on for more space for mouse movement
These are great for FPS games where space to flick the mouse is the priority.
Nah more mouse space all day
go watch a video reviewing keyboards with numbpads then. dum**ss
