14:25 oh man the whole time I was like please let it be that for some reason he consciously chose against mill max, they’re such a gift, just need to be mindful that you don’t use the longer sockets in a board with limited clearance! Also super humbled to be immortalized in a video via that comment, really appreciate your thoughtful and honest take on the experience of picking parts! It’s a journey!
You made a really good point in this video because I also make sure to fill my board up with switches and keycaps when determining which build I want, even though it is a pain. Trying one or two switches with the rest of the board empty doesn't give an accurate representation of what the build will sound like
Lol I love the story you tell. I got a prebuilt q4 pro. Love everything except the key caps. I saw a beautiful set of key caps on a board that felt awesome. Got the key caps home and change it into the q4 only to learn that sound was different and the height of key caps I actually prefer the stock q4 key caps. But then I settle down and kept the new key caps in and began to appreciate its own characteristics. Nice thing about hot swappable is I can swap later on. Right now focusing on the qmk since I always had a preference of vim like keybinding.
Loved this one, you've seemed to really tell the story of the hobby in such a nice package. Props for the insta links as well, will be putting that suggestion to good use!
I ended up building my U80 with PE foam as well, but used a frankenswitch with leftovers from a batch of BCPs (the leftovers being Cherry stem and bottom housing with JWK top housing), and I know sound tests aren't entirely accurate but your build sounds a lot like mine!
I'm already happy with my Outemu Panda with extremely-small 4 ply paper being put onto the leaf's back (calling it Leaf Paper mod), which is already tactile for me so much I wouldn't need an Boba U4T
I also went back and forth with switches and keycaps on my U-80, fortunately it’s hot-swap. I finally ended up with mx clears and pbt keycaps…GMK(abs) made the spacebar too loud.
What a timely video for me. After 5 years in this godforsaken hobby, countless GB shitshows, 2nd-hand sells and purchases, search for vintages, warped keycaps, and GMK bullshittery, I'm slowing arriving at the conclusion that there is no end-game or a true grail at the end of this road. And if you obsess yourself over finding one, you're more than likely going to have a bad time and burn out. Early on the problems are simple and so are the solutions. But later as you progress your preference tends to become more sophisticated and nuanced, you then realize there are no longer simple fixes; what you like and what you hate are sometimes two sides of a coin, and you can't remedy the downside without sacrificing what made you like it in the first place. You can't have your alphas be muted as they do with a plastic plate, and have your mod's slap like they do with an aluminum plate. You could settle with a half-plate sure but its not exactly the same. You can't have your keys bounce lively as they do with a leaf-spring gasket mount yet also have a strong clear-cut auditory feedback like you would with a classic top-mount. You buy a break-in machine to smooth out that scratchy hyperglides with diamond-paste and end up with the most boring switch (for me, that is. Everything is subjective). Sometimes, getting exactly what you want is a goddamn curse. So I've just learned to curb my expectation when experimenting and enjoy the friends I've made along the way. Perhaps you should too.
That was your mistake to begin with the perfect board does not exist in this hobby. Once you're finished with the board you are currently bulding you are already chasing the next one.
Thank you 🙇♂️ I’m actually truing to branch out a little bit in the future, there will still be keyboard related content but a lot less or at least that is the plan for now 🙂
I love my U80 despite the Rama Drama. Anyone know how to get an internal weight? Does anyone have the file for the alu weight they used to sell? I'd like one in brass.
This is not the video I was expecting. A Rama U80 in Q4 2023? No hotswap PCB? I thought we were going for truly difficult to find or had to be made custom. I mean it was a great video but not at all why I came here.
new cheese turbulence lesss goooooooo
LETTTTS GOOOOOOO

Thank you for your content, please keep making it.
Oh wow, THANK YOU!! That’s really REALLY appreciated 🙇🙇🙇
Loved this - a real novel take on what a keyboard video can be!
Thank you! 🙂

Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it! 🙂
got vior shipped from australia to us lol i was desperate, but it was about the same price as us domestic. definitely look abroad.

Brilliant video, i knew something was off when i saw bright silver ring around the solder sockets, cheeky hahaha!
😅 nice catch, I was wondering if somebody would notice 🫣 and thank you 🙂
such an amazing watch, really enjoyed the whole build.
Thank you so much! 🙂
Did you film your alpacas? JWK switches are notorious for having housing play and needs to be filmed.
I did not 🫣 I later read that as well, need to give this another shot. Thanks for the suggestion 🙂
truth is, the video makes the keyboard look even better 😉
Thank you 🙂
Awesome content my friend!
Thank you so much ❤️

Happy seeing the new upload!! 🧀
Thank you! 🙂
milktooth mentioned 🗣🗣
That ps1 startup sound made me feel some kinda way lol

Where did you find the mil-max sockets?
I got mine from MODE: modedesigns.com/products/mill-max-3305-sockets
Nice vid mate
Thank you! 🙂
Amazing!
Will you try any ergonomic split kb?
Thank you! 🙂 and yes, I’m definitely gonna try those at some point 🙂
What's the board at 1:53?
What a timely video for me.

nice build, thank you for the video
Thank you! 🙂
dang didnt make the instagram list. lolol
Great video as always cheese!
Fixed that, and thank you! 🙂
dang dude! Wasn’t expecting that, thanks for the so! Great work btw! Keep it up.
have you tried cherry mx blacks? very basic choice but always a solid pickj to start off of
I think mx switches fit the board the most sound wise from i’ve tried. Ended up with mx clears with my U-80.
I think I might finally give those MX Blacks a shot, thanks for the recommendation! 🙂
@@CheeseTurbulenceremember that mx blacks need to be spring swapped and filmed, as stock cherry springs are garbo
arc browser spotted!
One of the best installs ever 😉
any idea what happened to 3ildcat channel?
Now that you mention it, didn’t realize there hasn’t been a new video for a while. Hope everything is alright.
I guess you didn't lube the switches.
just get boba u4t so satisfying to type on
True that, Bobas are awesome 👌🏻
Moist PS intro
RIP keycaps stem holes.
Aifei keycaps $15-20 ezpz
No knob = not perfect
Soldering isn't _that_ time consuming
Desoldering is

Why do you limit yourself to mostly keyboard related videos? You have the skill to take up more than this.
Thank you 🙇♂️ I’m actually truing to branch out a little bit in the future, there will still be keyboard related content but a lot less or at least that is the plan for now 🙂
sad for you... Rama sucks.. totally not worth it ..
3:35 how many Rama U80-A can you find? its theres a lot floating around in for resell in MechMarket :(
I love my U80 despite the Rama Drama.

The foam broke my heart.
