Thanks again Aaron. About 12 years ago I found your lesson because I heard this great song by Needtobreathe and couldn't figure it out. (I'm not very good) Anyway, back then, I became a fan of the band and drove 100 miles to see them play in a small venue. Well, last night I had a chance to see Needtobreathe again in San Diego and they're still an awesome and uplifting band. My only regret is they didn't play this song (which is my favorite). I forgot how to play it. So, I'm glad and greatful you still have it available so I can relearn the tune. I'm getting pretty old, have cancer now, and playing and hearing this song just makes me feel good all over. Thank you again :)
you have a heart for God, your smart, handsome, talented, you have the patience to teach and the dedication to learn, i just have too say keep it up, you're quite the catch!
Started off as a great tutorial, right before I snapped my string. Now not only can I not play this song, but can't play anything else till the shops are open on Monday. Yay(!). Any way to play it without alternate tuning?
It might be because there isn't enough slack in your string. I learned a trick about guitar strings. The thinner they get the more times they must be wound on the tuning peg. If not, they not only go out of tune easily, but also snap more easily when you attempt to tune up. Though it's sometimes rare to tune up for open tunings. I've seen some live performances of this song, and though played differently, this tuning sounds identical. Figured out the little riff in the bridge too. Love it :)
Everything seems right, except the bridge. Watch the bridge on any acoustic version of NEEDTOBREATHE doing it. Bo does not play the highest two strings. And for anybody asking about an alternate way to play it, yes. Bear plays the song capo 6 to play with Bo. Just match the same chords. You won't get the same picking pattern though.
Wait, here's the solution! (I hope) Ok. tune your guitar a half step down from standard tuning. Meaning you'll go from Eadgbe to D# g# c# f# a# d#. If you don't know how to do this, place your capo on the first fret, then use your tuner. After tuning your guitar down a half step, play these chords: (Verse) Am, F, C....G, C. (Chorus) C, F, Am, G. You know what, I think I'll just send you the tabs :)
just wana say thanks for this tutorial i did a cover yesterday based on this check it out! only question is the tuning you described in this video is not exact same as the original? did you just base half step down for your vocal range?
Tune the your low 6th string down passed D to a Db (or C#) however you see it best. Then tune the 5th string from an A just a half step down to an Ab (or G#). Then tune the 4th string from a D a half step down making it Db (or C#). Then tune the 3rd string just a half step Up making it a G# (or Db) be very careful not to bust it. Then tune the 2nd string a half step down to an Ab (or G#) Then lastly tune the last high E string down all the way to Db (or C#) Hope you can learn the song now (:
awesome tutorial!! I've seen DADGAD before, but DADADD is all new to me :) btw I was watching 'beautiful savior' by the planetshakers and I figure the guitar is on DADADD? but I can't really figure out the chords he's playing.. Would you happen to do a tutorial on beautiful savior? thanx
I'm wondering if DADGAD could be a substitute for the original tuning because they both sound alike? Just asking because I have a Takamine too and I tried the tuning the actual c# tuning once and it sounded horrible!

Is there anyway to play this without tuning? Can I use a capo and transpose?
merci !
I'm wondering if DADGAD could be a substitute for the original tuning because they both sound alike? Just asking because I have a Takamine too and I tried the tuning the actual c# tuning once and it sounded horrible!
@guitargluv You're just tuning it to a g sharp. the guitar should be tuned to C# G# C# G# C# C#
I actually down-tune my guitar a half step from what he's doing and capo it. by the way is the verse in 7/8 time? I swear that's what I'm hearing
Do you where I could find the " correct " tabs haha so I could have something to read off of
What model is this guitar? I'm thinking about buying a takamine, would you recommend it?
Thanks. God bless u.
Matheus Seidel I know
I'd still have to tune the G string a whole 2 semi notes up which is where it snapped last time so I'll give it a miss, but cheers anyway
@kingsandannie The original actually is in open Db/C#. Kinda weird, but it's accurate
hey can you make a tutorial on how to play "these things take time" by sanctus real
@BlackGhostBnD I'm sorry correction. Move the 2nd string up from a B all the way Up to C# (or Db) be careful not to bust this one either. Sorry again
Anyone know how to tune the B string to D without it breaking?
Hey can u do a video on praise you in this storm.by casting crown plaese
TheLocoRunner Yeah i tuned it down and then i tuned it up again. My strings needed replacement anyway.
Aarontomberlin!!! :)
I tune my guitar they way to said. but my G string keeps snapping. the fourth from the bottom.
Oh wait forget that, I misread your question...sorry..
Great vid. Why don't you talk about time signatures? Some great shit going on with the time, which makes it fun to play.
Could you make a tab lol. I can't get through it like like I can the rest of your videos
what kind of strings do you have?
How do i tune my guitar again?
What kind of takamine guitar is this?
what kind of a guitar are you using here?
i just put on the search "how to play something beautiful"
not thinking on it as a title.
What kind of strings do you use?
@guitargluv it depends on your gauge ;) search that up
@chillbroltc I think he does, he just wants to focus more on the guitar playing.
Bridge is not correct... Also 450000 is not minor. Major with 3rd in bass. Overall not bad at all though.
What gauge strings are these? 😂
I don't get the tuning?
From standard tuning,
E down to C#
A down to G#
D down to C#
G up to G#
B up to C#
e down to C#
he tune the guitar dooown!!! :) Not up 2 ½ step, not even elixir strings will hold that.
LillaMartin d adirao will
What kind is pick ups are on that takamine
you're good....:D
Difference maker please
My high e string broke :(
haha same thing happened to me!
Does anyone one else think he looks like Josh Wilson?
Gonna try)P.S. You're SO cute:))♥♥♥
lol how, I thought this was a down tune not an up tune
I would really like to know the person who disliked this video
Sam Glover me Bitch
@guitargluv lol oh well
just videoed the bridge. Check it out on my page.
Where’s your page?
@clemdogish
if he didn't talk as much as he did, no one would understand what he is doing. it's better when he does that.
You're so cute I can't focus!!!
Couldn't pass cause of the guitar tune..
dude, u go to fast. slow down. Im trying to learn, not watch.
lolol he doesn't know the lyrics to his favorite band
none of this makes sense.....
Horrible bridge. Way off. Other then that, looks good.
