    Steel Post will corrode especially at the area around where the post meets the ground. Paint the post before putting it in the ground. Take a pump up sprayer tank and mix a little mineral sprits and boiled linseed oil inside the tank. Shake well and then spray the inside of the pipe from bottom to top and let it set for three days. Once the pipe is in the ground fill the pipe with spray foam and if wants leave a little gap at the top and pour a little concrete to make a top and when dry, paint it. Will last for many, many years.

    Back in the ‘50s in central Wisconsin, my maternal Grandfather bought an old farm up in Jackson County. My Dad and I spent a week’s vacation cutting tamarack trees, stripping and creosoting them and digging them in along the property line on either side of the road. We put in a steel gate and posted it all along the barbed wire fence. We arrived for deer season to find the fence cut and a bunch of assholes from Chicago had set up camp on the road! They claimed first that they owned the place and then that the owner had given them permission. My Grandfather told them that he was the owner and that they had ten minutes to unass the premises!
    We took their auto license numbers and reported them to the game warden and state police. I have always hated Chicago and Illinois since then, although the jerks from Milwaukee weren’t much better. Now I live in southern New Hampshire and have to deal with the Massholes!

    • @chooch1995
      @chooch1995 4 месяца назад

      Easy with the hatred there, friend! Just as you’ve discovered, the ‘Massholes’ are just like their urban Chicago counterparts i.e. victims of their upbringing in an urban environment. Be grateful that these metropolises exist because if they didn’t, these people would have to spread out & they’d be your neighbors! Also, Illinois consists of 102 counties. Only a half dozen are connected to that tainted upper right hand corner. Don’t hate Illinoisans. Outside of that area….they’re just like you!

    Wobbling drill bits done make them cut better it just ruins the bit from cutting straight .Hold the drill bit straight it'll fly thru using the taper bits. Shot of cutting oil helps !!

      Two inch pipe welded in center on each gate with a 1 1/2" pipe to make a gate lock to hold gates straight in center will make it stronger and easier then chain n locks.

    • @brianlitchko760
      @brianlitchko760 9 месяцев назад

      When a bit gets a dead spot in it you have to wobble it to get past that point. We use old bits in that manner all the time. They are expensive so you get as much use out of them as possible!

    Unless the nut on the upper adjustable hanger is spot welded, all you need is a wrench to detach the gate and then swing it around out of the way, or a battery powered grinder, $40 from HF.
