I would cap the posts so they don't fill with water and put a few boulders on the sides so no one can drive around. You guys did a great job and looks nice.👍
@randallan8158 as a 19 old kid we had a place that alot of people went with they're dates. It was a old rock quarry and just like you said we just went right around the gate with our trucks. We had a well worn in trail. I'll be it still gets use to this day.

I put 6” round posts cemented in the ground and 2@ 12’ tube gate all around my farm (6 sets) 35 years ago and I had to replace all of the gates because they rusted out but the posts are still going strong, nice job!
I've seen them drive around the gates and make another way in. They've also driven further down the road and start to get in that way or make a layover point off the road. Those small trees aren't going to stop it unless you fence it off as well.
The implied permission has now been removed, it would certainly leave me or any “reasonable person” (per se) in no doubt not to enter without lawful authority or reasonable excuse . All the best from England.

If you get a lot of snow like I do you might find you want to move those gates up so you don't have to push/drag them through the snow. I did my double gate like 30+ years ago, still as good as the day I installed them. Nice work. 👍
You should fill the posts with concrete and either get big boulders on the sides or make a rebar enforced concrete pieces. That way nobody would try to get around. And perhaps a hinge to keep the two gates locked together to prevent them from swinging a bit.
Isn't that just brilliant? At some point there was someone who had to invent that one vehicle add-on with the sole purpouse of driving fence posts in the ground fast and efficient. Whoever it was, well done. :)
Is that thingy removable from the truck bed, I mean what do you do with the truck when you don't need it? How many times a year do you drive poles into the ground?
After WWII, a lot of farmers bought Jeeps and put augers on the back that hooked up to a PTO. Great way to put a LOT of fence posts up in a short amount of time.
Dave it’s ashamed we land owners need to take these steps to keep people off of our properties. Unfortunately they’ll push on the gates and loosen everything up. Best of luck it looks good, Happy Easter…John
It is a pity that we need these extra safety precautions to keep unwanted people off our property, but it is reality. Good looking gate you have there!
Just a tip if you driving posts like that again, if you measure from the top down instead of from the bottom up to get your depth line it removes any issue from the posts being different lengths. Saves having to cut the tops 😀
Like the reflective tape . Think you should have hung gates at least 1' above ground. No set of gates will hang level against time, weight. Should have hung gates with slight crown where they meet in middle, then you wont have a set of sway-back gates. My 2 cents. Some things to think about next time you hang gates. i made caltrops and spread where trespassers drive in. they think they are driving past the gate but end up with 4 flat tires. then we have the car towed. caltrops are easy to make
Well done, very professional, gate hangers up and down so those rascals can't lift the gate off the hangers. Here in England I've never seen a gate you can adjust to the hanger, makes sense.
The post will eventually sag towards the center if you don’t shore it up. I like many of the comments below but I would also install cameras and a sign saying you are being recorded. That will stop a lot of the trespassers. My brother had the same issue with trespassers on his commercial property until he added surveillance. They are cheap to purchase and install now and give you a piece of mind. I can’t wait for more videos, you do a great job!
I gated off all my access points several years ago and added boulders and steel posts on the sides to make sure no one could sneak in. So far it's kept people out.
Good way to do it. We augered holes and put telephone poles 6 ft down, to hold our gate. I think that was 15+ years ago, still fine shape. Will you fill the box beam with anything?
Those guys worked like a well oiled machine, those sets of gates came out perfect. I like the galvanized posts, I used cedar trunks for mine, looks cool but anyone with a chainsaw can get in! 😂

Big rocks spaced so far apart that it is easy to walk and maintain but not so easy to drive through would keep them from going around. Nice job, but I was just curious as to what’s going to stop folk driving around the gates, there’s plenty of room for a 4WD to get around 3 of the four sides ? . Cheers
If you put a fence along the side and place big rocks just in front it's going to discourage anyone from trying to get around as to get back on main street they have to come back out same way that they have gone in so if they are stealing they're going to get arrested for it or for trespassing as they are behind fence
Should have filled the post with concrete. Also, the gate is only as good as the fence, I didn't see a fence to stop people from just driving around the gate. Don't tell me the trees will stop them because trees are only as strong as the saw is that will remove them.
Another lover's lane bites the dust. At the first gate, You will have to built a fence into the brush, otherwise, they will just drive around the gate.
Dig some trenches about 3 feet deep and 3 feet wide add 6 inches of 1 inch stone in the bottom. When they try to drive around the gate they fall in the trench and damage their vehicle.
Excuse me where's the big stones or something on each side of fence. Shouldn't the fence tops have some kind cover no water in last longer Sir, just suggesting. Good job Sir.
I would cap the posts so they don't fill with water and put a few boulders on the sides so no one can drive around. You guys did a great job and looks nice.👍
Yes. Either place very large boulders for 10'-15' on either side of the gate or place chain link fence on either side of the gate.
Yeah I was thinking the exact same thing watching this.
