Steel Post will corrode especially at the area around where the post meets the ground. Paint the post before putting it in the ground. Take a pump up sprayer tank and mix a little mineral sprits and boiled linseed oil inside the tank. Shake well and then spray the inside of the pipe from bottom to top and let it set for three days. Once the pipe is in the ground fill the pipe with spray foam and if wants leave a little gap at the top and pour a little concrete to make a top and when dry, paint it. Back in the ‘50s in central Wisconsin, my maternal Grandfather bought an old farm up in Jackson County. My Dad and I spent a week’s vacation cutting tamarack trees, stripping and creosoting them and digging them in along the property line on either side of the road. We put in a steel gate and posted it all along the barbed wire fence. We arrived for deer season to find the fence cut and a bunch of assholes from Chicago had set up camp on the road! They claimed first that they owned the place and then that the owner had given them permission. My Grandfather told them that he was the owner and that they had ten minutes to unass the premises!
We took their auto license numbers and reported them to the game warden and state police. I have always hated Chicago and Illinois since then, although the jerks from Milwaukee weren’t much better. Now I live in southern New Hampshire and have to deal with the Massholes!

Be grateful that these metropolises exist because if they didn’t, these people would have to spread out & they’d be your neighbors! Also, Illinois consists of 102 counties. Only a half dozen are connected to that tainted upper right hand corner. Don’t hate Illinoisans. Outside of that area….they’re just like you!

I don't understand why the yellow vehicle with the pile driver has a turret. It seems like unnecessary expence when all you need to do is turn the vehicle round. Having said that, it is a handy machine.

Unless the nut on the upper adjustable hanger is spot welded, all you need is a wrench to detach the gate and then swing it around out of the way, or a battery powered grinder, $40 from HF.

    # 1:03 don't make those hinge bolts @ the same level, 1/4 inch I recommend, so you don't have to get them BOTH started [ when putting the gate on ] at the same time.

Nice gates, but I'd have opted for pairs of gates with the fold-over arms which lock them rigidly together. Now you need fences or hefty boulders to stop people driving round the sides.

That part of the world is crooked cause no way those posts were straight. For future reference, maga verify that the person holding your level is qualified for the job. 😊
Andrew had posts that screwed into the ground and Dave has them slammed in.

hi, yes it will last a long time but not the black paint that you painted your posts, because on galvanized metal the paint does not stain it dries you must treat the metal with vinegar before painting, I have already experienced with galvanized metal and all the paint has lifted
