My black/blue mud flaps are arrive today for my 2016 WRX. I was super excited then remembered it's 10 degrees outside (I live in New England) and shouldn't be too much fun my first attempt to install mud flaps.
One trick for folks that don't want to jack the car up/remove the rear wheel - if you have a 1/4 SAE wrench (or even better, a 1/4 SAE ratcheting wrench) then you can use that in conjunction with a philips drill bit to tighten screws in areas with extremely low access for even the stubbiest of regular screwdrivers.
Great video. The small bends that you mention on the back really help with the fit in keeping the flap level with the ground. One easy cosmetic option that I did on my install was use plasti dip to turn the silver screws from Rally armor black. A few coats on the head of the screws match the flap quite well and still allow for the screws provided to be removed if need be.
Not sure if anyone pointed this out and perhaps I missed it, but I feel like you neglected to add a UClip on the back bracket. I just installed these last night after watching the video and using the supplied directions.
not very good guys... you forgot to install the clip on the rear so you can install the screw through the flap.. you made it appear it is not needed as you screwed in the screw.
Pro Tip: To do this without removing the rear tires (stock size) you can easily tighten down the screws if you use a 1/4 apex #2 and a 1/4 gear wrench. Also an offset would most likely work, just slightly more annoying.
great video. The mud flaps look great on any color WRX or STI and make the car look a lot nicer and sportier. However, to me at least, $172 is too much for these. I wish they were less expensive, but rally armors are much better quality than say rock blocks.
Good video but: 1) forgot the U clip for the back bracket 2) the plastic clips that hold on the fender liner on the front aren't necessarily unscrew-able. You have the twist the inside a quarter turn while keeping the outer housing stationary.
one important aspect that made this take 3 hours is in the video he didn't use a c clip in the rear.... I know the instructions are there but going by this video, he forgot a huge key. all in all got it on..you'll need to take the rear tire off to tighten down nuts in rear
A great video. I will now think about installation of Rally armour mud flaps. Thank you Subiespeed and stay safe out there guys and gals. Subies forever.
Red flaps with white lettering just installed on my 2015 WRX STi in WRB. They add to the red accents nicely. Price was a bit steep for them though. Hopefully they last me a long time :)
Will this brand of mud flaps work with my 2016 Subaru Impreza sedan? Throtl said they're universal for my car but I want to make sure before I spend $160.
Considering I had to do it in 1 degree weather in the snow, on coilovers with no jack, I'm glad I used the directions included and didn't forget to put the u-clamp on the rear bracket like they did in this video.
Me to moving my front one because I didn’t think to turn it because my clips kept popping loose and I was getting frustrated as shit. Not even that hard of an install compared to what I usually do but damn tell me why this shit sucked to do😂
@@morganjames13 unless one is stripped and you have to spend like an hour figuring out how to get a stripped out plastic clip off your fender liner. The answer, if anyone needs it, just break the fkn thing.
Do you guys happen to know how to tell if the bracket fitment is for 2015 or 2019s because I ordered some 2015+ but the holes don’t quite line up. I also have the rear OEM guards that make it hard to try to install but I don’t want to take them off since they are applied with adhesive from factory.
how hard is it to remove these after install? What I mean is, When I unscrew the mudflaps, are the plastic clips going to fall inside the cars molding? I forgot to put a clip on one of the front flaps but I'm afraid of unscrewing them thnking the clips will fall off then I'll have to tear apart the whole side of the car to get them otherwise I won't be able to put the flaps back on and they'll be useless without the clips.
The bottom screw on the front doesn't seem to tighten. I've got the clip and spacer in there, but on both the left and the right it doesn't get tight. Any ideas?
Installed these on my 2016 WRX yesterday, but having issues with the rear tires rubbing on the nuts whenever I go over a bump. I'm currently running on Bridgestone Blizzaks 245-45R19 (winter tires), but with the stock summer tires on, I shouldn't have any problems. Any suggestions on how to stop it from rubbing with my winter tires on?
You forgot to mention the U-clip on the back bracket, also good luck to anyone trying to instal the rear flaps with the tires left on #impossible I needed to use a wrench to twist the screws in instead of using a screwdriver.
+Brylle Martin just be carefull with the 2014 with your paint, super thin on those models!!! scratch sooo easy, definatley will benefit from mudflaps...,hey well down there hit your rocker underside with some paint cause Subee didnt...
Just got the rock blox yesterday have yet to install them but the quality is spot on, way to much for the rally armor and I'm not into the shine look, just my option, the rock blox are to me made of a excellent material and you have 2 options short or reg, short being 1.5 shorter and thats what I went with, for 90$ to the door can't beat the price and hey you get a pack of smarties with them lol, I know I'm gonna be a happy driver. Again just my 02. Cheers.
be careful with rock blocks especially when backing up. the material may seem to be better because it is thicker/ stiffer (that's what she said) but that also means that they are less forgiving.
In my case, with standard 245/40R18 tires, I was able to do it fine without lifting the car or removing tires. I used a normal 11mm craftsman wrench for the nuts, and had no issue, and for the screw in the center I used a 18" screwdriver that I have. It allowed it to be straight enough and held well enough that I was able to get the screws plenty tight without trouble.
My RA mudflaps sucked. lasted one winter season.. after a couple winter storms the bracket bent then broke in the rear.. RA didn't want to warranty it.. wouldn't recommend for off-road use, cosmetic only...
Im having the HARDEST time popping off the fender liner clips!!! PLEASE HELP im using brute force and they wont pop out no matter how much i have loosened it!!! I dont wanna damage my car

My black/blue mud flaps are arrive today for my 2016 WRX. I was super excited then remembered it's 10 degrees outside (I live in New England) and shouldn't be too much fun my first attempt to install mud flaps.
If you tape off and plasti-dip the hardware after install it not only hides the hardware, it protects it from rust if you live in a snow area

Get the universal Rally Armor ones for 25 bucks. Just need to drill your own holes.

1) forgot the U clip for the back bracket
2) the plastic clips that hold on the fender liner on the front aren't necessarily unscrew-able. You have the twist the inside a quarter turn while keeping the outer housing stationary.
