- In this lesson we are going to show how to program Allen Bradley PLCs to use the BSL Bit Shift Left instruction to track machine sequence steps. One key advantage to the PLC programming methods in this series is they work with all Allen Bradley PLCs including the Controllogix and Compactlogix with Studio 5000, formerly RsLogix 5000, RsLogix 500 for the SLC 500 and Micrologix PLC, and Connected Components Workbench for the Micro800 PLC. In fact these methods work with most all major PLC manufacturers.

Tim I love you. Thanks for these videos.
Glad you like them!
Tim, what would you use instead of the BSL? I work in a bottling industry and I find this used in a lot of different applications.
For sequencing or tracking what stations have bottles and which ones don't?
@@TimWilborne I think most have bottles. The bsl is usually used to kick out bad bottles or to not fill a missing bottle. I am just curious what else could be used in that application. I understand why it’s used instead of using numerous photo eyes to keep track of bottles.
@@joew4202 The only time the BSL wouldn't be good is if you need to code it for what needs done or want to track the reject types. Then shifting a number would be better than a bit.
Hy Tim you are great...
Hey, thanks!
can you show how to create a BSL in compact logiq 5000, tag by tag? thank you
That is what this video is showing.
I don’t understand, you taken physical input but how if you press sequence then output work?
Yes, here is a longer version

Hi, How is it programmed to work as in rslogix?
Exact same.
