New WSDOT video shows benefits of wildlife crossings, with more coming to Washington

- The wildlife crossing along I-90 has seen some major traffic this summer.
“It's really great to see wildlife using it. We've captured different varieties of wildlife, including bobcats, coyotes, elk and deer,” said Meagan Lott, communications manager for Washington Department of Transportation.
WSDOT Snoqualmie Pass released a new video this week showing a herd of 55 elk, a rare sighting of a black bear using the crossing and a nursing elk calf.

This is such a god send
They need one on I90 near the Washington/Idaho border. The elk used to cross there in mass. The housing projects messed with them but the ones who make it should be able to cross.
I90 near the Idaho border from Spokane to CDA Idaho is nothing but a mess of Urban sprawl, I was looking at google maps the other day of that corridor and almost threw up, it's that bad, I think an I5 crossing south of Olympia is the next priority though, to connect the Olympic peninsula to the cascades

Wildlife is essential to our world and us humans, Saw too many dead on our motorcycle trips coast to coast running like hell trying to cross a highway, they deserve maximum protection.

I have seen videos of projects like this elsewhere. They seem to work really well. I think they were in Europe somewhere.

This is money well spent animals need a safe crossing area
And less chance of traffic accidents from trying to dodge wild life.

I’m an absolute conservative. And live in Oregon. This is money well spent. I’ve seen hundreds of animals killed on the byways how did we expect animals to cross roads without getting slaughtered. This should have been built into the original construction. It would have been so much cheaper
I remember when this got proposed and morons were like, "ha duurrr animals cant read signs, ha duurrrrr..."

I don’t like news from my experience I have not found them straight forward with what they speak unless it is local new their politics is always lies, like real people don’t research 🧐 info they speak. Sorry when I hear truth I can believe I will listen . I notice my mind and heart doesn’t like negativity. Only positive peaceful truthful informative information can I accept.
