When I finally got my permit 8 months after applying (3 months PD, 5 months sitting in the court house) I applied for my PA carry license. I applied 10am I got the call at 3pm the same day that I was approved. I picked up the license the next day. NJ is so f'd up.
I took the course and qualified at RTSP In Randolph. Submitted my app online through the state police (I live in a town in Sussex County where we dont have a police dept) on Feb 14th, and got my permit March 11th.
I qualified with them and took the use of force there they were great I will go with them when its time to renew. Did I hear right you have to take the use of force again? It was $125 for the 1 hour class.
As a certified CCW Firearms Instructor certified by the New Jersey State Police, I feel inclined to let comment readers know that the application procedures for non-residents must be done in-person at the nearest non-toll road New Jersey State Police barracks closest to the out-of-state applicant's residence. Non-resident applicants MUST call the closest State Police barracks ahead of time and not just show up. None of the application documents can be submitted online.
Thank you so much, I watched your video about a month ago or so, your video and links provided made everything a lot easier, the Franklin Twship PD (Somerset)was great and the process was simple and quick ( considering this is NJ) , thanks again, keep the good work Pal.
Jay, I just renewed online last month in Woodbridge, it literally only took 6 Days. Also you don’t need to contact your local PD, you just need to get their ORI #. Also I believe the firearms instructor can be an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, who will then give you a copy of their NRA instructor certificate to upload with your application.
Just a bit more info on this subject matter---if you have a local Police department in the town you reside in, that is who you need to contact for your ORI number
Thanks for a great video. One question...do we really need to contact our local pd at the beginning of the process? If so how do we do that? I might be missing something but it appears to me that the entire process is done online and dies dot include a direct communication with the local pd. Can you kindly elaborate on this? Thank you.
Also I had to update the email on one of my references. My PD was able to update it and send the questionnaire to my reference. That was almost 2 months ago so hopefully I'll hear back soon.
Great video ,now PLEASE do one on how to renew. Additionally ,any NJ resident who is a ccw holder and applied and recieved a PA permit please comment on which county.I cannot find a county that is non resident freindly
I received my NJ non resident PTC in March 2023 after 5 months waiting. It’s almost my time to start the renewal process in October. Do you know if out of state PTC holders need to get a FPID card now? Previously, I did not apply for the FPID card and still received my permit.
In contrast, my sister who lives outside of PA came to visit, showed up at the local Sheriff's office with her drivers license, and had her PA CCW permit, with picture that THEY took, in her hand in under 25 minutes and $20.
Just received my out of state NJ carry license( what a convoluted process) so when it comes time for renewal, do I have to go through the entire process again including fingerprinting, references, including qualification course, and all of the forms or is the renewal process simplified?
Hi, I’m a PA resident with PA license to carry. I want to get my permit to carry in NJ but don’t have an FID card. Do I still have the get the FID card first? Then do all of this? Should I take the training course first and pass Then go to the police station to apply? And at what point in the process do I get my finger printing done? Thanks you
Do you have a video of uploading the documents? I keep getting an error when i am trying to upload the documents of completion. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks.
$$$: the fees in NJ are so ridiculous. You failed to mention. Why do the people have to spend $2500 (including handgun) in NJ when it cost $25 in PA + handgun cost. The fee is for 5 or more years. And no crazy hoop jumping!!!
Incorrect @nbastar. I have my PA and Utah. They are only valid if your NJ permit is valid. NJ expires in 2 years, PA and Utah are 5 years. NJ makes you jump through hoops. PA and Utah makes it very easy. Again, save your money in NJ and move to PA.
@@myst8217Thankfully not. No magazine ban in place. The House always tries to pass AR bans but they never get voted on because it violates the 22nd Amendment in the PA Constitution
Hey once all your references submitted all the feedback do I have to wait to get an email to go and pay the $150 ? Or I could just go to my local police department and pay it ?
Why do you need to go to your ldp and let them youre applying before you begin the process? Do they give you something? Just asking for when I have the means to get my NJ PTC.
That's wayyyyyy too much unconstitutional shit going on for me to move back there and deal with. I'll stay in Colorado where shit makes sense and your permit only takes $150 at the Sheriff's office and a $60 lecture through an instructor and boom wait 90 days and it's in the mail.
The notion that one needs multiple "references" in order to exercise a constitutional right is preposterous. It just adds friction to the process in order to discourage as many people as possible from applying for a permit. Try to imagine requiring 'references' in order to vote. Hopefully this unnecessary impediment gets challenged and is eventually thrown out. By that time I will probably have departed NJ permanently.
No, but the bill of rights does not give us rights, it protects our "Inalienable rights endowed by our Creator" from government. Read the Constitution and Declaration.
I lived in NJ over 20 years and just moved to PA in 2021. If I didn’t drive back on weekends to visit friends and family I wouldn’t have any reason to apply but since I do go occasionally then I prefer to have it, even with the ridiculous, expensive and arduous process that it is. Conversely, here in PA I paid $20.00 and filled out the very simple form and received my 5 year carry permit within a week of applying. Hopefully NJ gets pounded to the ground in all the various court cases they’re involved in and gets humbled enough to change their inane and wayward ways.
Oh calm down Karen. Your sky deity didn't create guns and has nothing to do with them. It should be sorta difficult to carry a gun all over the place. Do we really want guns everywhere? Please.
The use of "God" in the phrase "God-given rights" is meant to imply rights that are inalienable and bestowed upon you by a power greater than government. You can be an athiest and your human rights still apply to you.
How can a regular citizen get one? Because i see “justifiable need” only allows people like security guards or shopkeepers handling large volumes of cash are allowed to get a CCW.
