Mine was maroon with a sparkled maroon banana seat, sissy bar, and an orange flag on a tall pole. We used to pretend we were fixing our bikes by turning them upside down. Too funny thanks for bringing back the memory.
I "lived" on my 24" Western Flyer😀. Raised on a small farm and often just rode around in circles, through mud puddles, etc. Wouldn't trade it for anything.
I learned what an unacceptable spotty brood pattern looks like and how to prepare a new queen cage to introduce. Thank you! (and sorry about that Canadian smoke - everyone loves buy our lumber though!)
Coffee time ❤ Can you make more coffee time videos? I love the videos!!! You’ve got me crying this morning. I think I remember a bike similar like that in Paris, ILL Did we ride those bikes? Amazing story , David. I never knew he did that for you. Please share more stories.

Most were blocks of wood in make beleave trucks an tractors. The 50 an 60’s were tuff times but I wouldn’t trade it for all the tea in China coz it teached us all you need in this world is love… I have slept, ate, played, work, fighted beside , cried an near died, beside every color of human on this earth and if we give an show love?? They will return love an trust.. am I a crazy old man because I talk an show love to my bees? Maybe but most of my hives now I can open an work on them without smoke because they trust me and know I will not hurt them lol maybe they love my singing to them as I work.. animals have a sick sense , they can detect love hate anger, and I truly believe bees can sense the same thing as an animal… Now as to drawing out comb ??😂😂😂 my girls flat out hate 100% pure plastic super frames.. ( white ones) I don’t care if I put a pound of wax on them they will use brood space draw it out full of honey before they will do anything but strip the wax of the white one’s …🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ an experiment I just took one of my best hives and put “2” honey supers on . First was the plastic frames second ( top) box was wooden frames. Top box is plugged full honey an the first one? They stripped all of the wax, and never did nothing with 10 frames. .🤦♂️ yesterday I threw my hands in the air and said OK girls y’all made your point I see the light I dropped in 10 wooden frames took them 10 plastic frames that I’ve tried to use for two years and threw them in the dumpster…. But we want to thank you for taking us under your arm an teaching us❤❤ as a ending note? The point were Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan all meet between the northern Michigan fires and the southern Canadian fires I have only seen the sun a few times and it “has” effected my girls too😢 nasty times for us all…..

Lovely story about what your dad did to your bike. I did the same thing for my daughter. I couldn’t afford a new bike so I went to the charity shop and got an old bike and painted it up with balloons and stars painted on it. Got a wicker basket too. She never forgot that bike.
David that bike brings back memories, I had one just like it in bright light green . Great memories and a bee session can’t be beat! You know you are telling everyone how old we are. Thanks
That is how Utah looked a couple of years ago with all the fires that were around us. We had the smoke from Canada for a minute earlier this year. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I love the talks you have on life. Or coffee time. Can you recommend any interesting books? My brothers had bikes like that with elongated seat and the sissy bar. I remember catching my bell bottoms in the chain of my bike and never ended well.
Thank you for the information and the positive way you bring it to us all. I'm a first year bee keeper and have learned so much from your videos. Thank you🐝
Hey David! I'm a new viewer to your channel (and a new beekeeper!) I just wanted to say I absolutely love your educational content and your 'coffee time'. Reminds me of my time with my papaw when I was little. Hope to see more of your videos in the future!❤
my first experience with the inside of the hive was back in 1990. I was staying with my folks. we lived in the country and a local beekeeper had gotten permission to put a couple of hives on our property. that couple turned out to be about 7. When he came at the end of the season to harvest his honey and remove the hives to wherever he overwintered them, he discovered one hive that had lost its queen he just shook those bees into a neighboring hive and put the empty box in his truck. When I asked if they would fight he said that they might argue just a little but wouold sort things out.
I have a swarm captured in a swarm box I put on the abandon dairy farm where I keep my apiary. It's probably from one of the hives. Can I introduce it to a weaker colony with a failing queen by the newspaper method? My dad did a similar chrome job for me at his plant, but on my motorcycle fenders. Gotta love chrome on anything!
Dave, I needed to requeen a colony today and had a mated queen available from two colonies vertically separated by a doublescreen board. Instead of using a queen cage to move her over the colony needing a better queen I did a paper merge separation. I know time will tell in the next couple of days if my paper merge versus queen cage worked but hoping that was a "good" option. Thoughts? Thanks so much. Kevin
Thanks David, I thank u for all u have thought us . In SE Ohio we have the same with the smoke, But wat a person gonna do . I did have a question , iv Ben stung in my finger's no problem Ben stung in arms , and legs no biggie but one git my lip eye then my whole head swells up Any advice I dont believe I'm allergic but dint know if it was just me or not. Thanks again
❤ your channel! Can you comment on the smoke from fires and how the bees react to it? Do they slow production? Any supportive measures? Lots of the smoke here too in western NY
Disappointment abounds. New to bees. First Nuc in May. Checked every two weeks and bees doing well. Missed a few checks due to son's wedding and today - no queen - no brood, but one frame has three supersedure cells and another frame has a swarm cell - all capped. I took the swarm cell frame and a honey frame and put in a new brood box. I'll let the three queens in the old box duke it out so I get the strongest queen. Any of this makes sense? Thanks for the videos and hope to start joining you on Thursdays.
Hi David, If I want to make honey with a hive aside from not splitting the hive in two will taking 1-2 frames of brood have an impact on the honey production ? Thanks for throwing wisdom words and advice from time to time.
I have a question backyard beekeeper with hopes of one day being more. I have a hive that the bees surround the hive all around slowly moving up and down all over the outside of the hive box. It has full open vent like all my hives, and small vent on upper cover. A few weeks ago I gave them a screen bottom board. Hasn't helped everything else is same as my other two hives. Only difference I can tell is it's in more of a shaded area and less air flow. Any ideas live in Missouri usually around 85+ to 100 in hi heat

I've heard the bees do not forage as much and they are more defensive.
What was that smoker?
I feel your pain it has been Smokey on and off for weeks 🇨🇦here

@@beek new beekeeper here. Love watching your videos. Thanks
I live in Western Pa and like you are experiencing a lot of smoke from Canadian Fires. What if any effects do you think it’s having on the bees?
What fuel do you use for your smoker?
What happened to the Queen that was in the hive you added the new Queen?
David - HOW WILL all this smoke from Canada effect honeybees ?
What do you do with the queen when she isn't being so active? You kill her?
Is that a smoker?
Is it true that if a bee mistakenly enters a different hive, it's killed by those found there. Thanks

Also had to add a few hives beetle traps in that hive cause bees are outside and not corralling them as much
Hahaha So true you fix your bicycle then you go straight to fix your car just so you had ride
