Well I am from that good place called Australia, where we drive on the left side of the road in cars with right hand steering wheels. I have an 07 Rubicon JKU that has now done 265K kilometres (about 165K Miles). I have travelled all over this great country (deserts mainly, but also high country, beaches, sand, mud, rocks etc. ). You name it I have been there! Pretty much 200K kilometres (125K miles about) have been off road. And some very gnarly places. Thing is, I really dont know why people want to can the JKU. It has never let me down. It has proven itself time and again, pulled out stuck Toyota, Nissans, Landrovers etc etc etc. and taken me to some of the most beautiful places you could see. It has never let me down. It has been kept pretty much stock standard except for a 2" lift, HD rear springs and Mud Terrain tyres. It has standard bumpers etc. No winch: I rely on mud traxs - 2 minutes and you are out! When in the remote outback, I sleep in the Jeep. Everything I need is able to be snuck inside or on top in a roof rack, including fuel, water, food, spares, lighting, tents etc. There is just no way that I will be getting rid of the JKU. Even the missus says I should and can keep it. Howzat!!

Exactly why after looking for a 4x4 to go wheeling and camping with I ended up with a isuzu trooper. I just couldn't justify paying that kind of money for what you get. I was looking for a jeep, land Rover, land cruiser, samurai, something cool and fun but quickly found out so is everyone else and prices are outrageous. $1900 for a boxy old rust free trooper and $700 for mud tires is my idea of 'budget ' 4x4

The fact that your jeep did 304, 000 miles alone is quite amazing..and now you a whole new life of mile potential..that 3.8 engine is good and the oil usage issues are apparently eased if you use 10/30...and just keep an eye on it... we have exactly that same jeep..the Sahara unlimited.....I'm hoping you will post updates on what you want to see it as...enjoyed your presentation....keep it up
$8,800 is way to much with those many miles... i know people will get mad... do get mad... you can get the same year same model with 200,000 less miles for $4000 more...
I agree, I have a 2007 Jeep Sahara with over 300k miles as well. The car is probably worth $3-4k. If i were in the same position I would look for one with less miles or preferably use the money as a down payment on a new or slightly used jeep that still has a warranty. Especially when Jeeps get older they need a lot of maintenance and it would be smarter to invest that same money that would be spent fixing any issues that will come up and just buy a newer jeep with way less miles.
My good friend has a 1st gen Jeep Liberty with over 320,000 miles on it and it's still going strong. Mostly highway miles for a work commute but good maintenance is a key in the engine surviving this long. Don't know of anything going wrong with it just regular maintenance. I know it's an exception but good to see a Wrangler doing well with this many miles.
I had an 02 Liberty that I drove forever. High mileage. It ran great the whole time I had it with the exception of a funky neutral safety switch that the dealership couldn’t figure out. I finally found a mechanic who knew what was going on. Otherwise it was reliable. Terrible gas mileage though.
I paid $21k more and got a brand spanking new one similarly equipped, 2018. I am unsure if that was a good deal based on it having 300,000 miles more. 21k will cover a lot of repairs so maybe it was a good deal if you look at it that way. Either way I hope he enjoys the wrangler and drives it for a long time!
With 21k he can put a new motor, new transmission and have enough money to lift it, put nice wheels and tires, suspension components and make it out performed a stock jeep!
Nice Jeep! The old 3.8 doesn't get much love, but my 08 Rubi runs like new and the engine has been bulletproof. I've got 140k on mine, so it is just a baby compared to this one! I've no doubt it will hit 300k. It has no rust other than on the gas tank skid plate, despite 13 Indiana winters with plenty of road salt. I've run mostly Mobil 1 oil and Fram Ultra filters in it, changed every 6k miles. I change plugs every 40k and differential/T-case/Transmission fluid every 25k to 35k. Mine has a 2" spacer lift and 33" tires, and a 6 speed manual. It has been off-road all over the country, so outside of maintenance, it has not been babied. I did replace rusty rock rails with "new" ones off Craigslist. I had them line-X'd and I also put new Quadratec wheels on it 2 years ago. These are tough, durable, and reliabel machines. I'll still have mine 10 years from now.
I have put 85,000 miles on my 2013 Jeep Sport and so far and can tell you JK generation has poor quality. Between 70 and 80,000 miles i have replaced, Radiator, Thermostat\Housing, Starter, Clock Spring, HVAC door blender actuator and Throttle body. Also under warranty around 35,000 miles had work done on engine with 3.6l Pentastar due to issues between 2011 to 13.Will never buy a Jeep again. Welcome Ford Bronco. My 2001 Sahara I had til 225,000 miles was bullet proof though.
Me too. Only 60,000 miles and had to replace radiator, heater core, a fuel injector, idler pulley, rubber suspension bump stops and likely more I have forgotten about. Jeep means Junk.
I bought my 07 jku with 200000 miles and the dealership gave me a 12 month 12000 mile warranty. At 220000 the dealership failed to diagnose a head gasket and now I get to DIY it my self
Looks like it is in great shape. Enjoy making new memories with it and your family. Welcome to the Jeep family. We started with a 05 LJ and have added a mint 98 TJ. Now recently added a unicorn 89 YJ with 74K on it! Have fun. That is what it is all about.
I changed the tranny oil an filter on mine at 136k due to an offroading mishap... I now have an engine oil pan tranny skid lol but Im up to almost 150k and its running strong! This engine is super easy to work on and I love driving mine. Glad to see they can go the distance!!
If he has any problems with the engine he should just swap in the 3.6 L V6 Pentastar. Much better engine. I'm not sure why the previous owners didn't do that rather than rebuild the 3.8L.
Then you may as well say swap it out for a Hemi or LS. Swapping the engine needs a whole lot of other things to happen with regards to the electronics, cluster and all that.
@@Mailmartinviljoen Wranglers are designed around the 3.6L. Dropping a hemi into one can bring all kinds of new problems that RUclipsrs don't tell you about. Extra weight means new springs. Show me all of these cheap JK Wranglers with high mileage for $3-4k you're all talking about in the comments...they dont exist. And a TJ isn't much more reliable than a JK.
This is good to know. My JK 2dr Rubi with manual box has a 2.5" lift and 285/70/17 wheels. For most of its life it had slightly larger tyres. 305/70/17. It now has 215K Km (Roughly 120K Miles) and its also still going. The gearbox is a bit rough/clunky but its been like that since 30K km when I got it in 2012 (2010 model) so I assume its normal. Only had to replace the starter and the clutch so far. Water still dripping from the exhaust in the morning (My grandfather used to say is a good sign 🙂 ) Before this i had a TJ 06 model, Miss that guzzler quite a bit! and think of getting another one. a 2dr jk vs TJ in terms of power and sluggishness is about the same in my opinion. But the TJ with autobox sounded a whole lot better with the cats removed.
As a person who is in the market for a Jeep this deal isn’t bad. Not saying it’s good but it’s not bad. Just looking at Jeeps this morning and could only find 1 Jeep similar to his specs under 10k. Now there are some older two door Jeeps under 10k from the 90s.
Mine 2007 JKU has 221k miles on it and still going strong. The moral of the story keep it stock and use it on the road more this will last longer than modification and off-road abuse.
2011 JK Unlimited. Engine just blew at 152,000. Having a new rebuilt Jasper engine (including a few other things) put in for just under $10,000. Do you still have this one? How is it running?
Don't count buddy you put 2000 miles on it that's not long enough for your real opinion young Man and having it rebuilt should replace its original lame 202 hp 235 lb torque but to say something is truly reliable is 300000 original miles un rebuilt so this is inaccurate
my 2011 unlimited Sahara is modded w everything available except a full weld-in cage & 1 ton axels. It has 96,000 on its v6 & 42RLE autotranny & 5.13 Yukon's. Axles are Artec builtup as far as available + gussets, trusses, better lockers front/rear, all guts ) and rides on a full Synergy Mfg 3" Stage III lift / control arms it's only ever had non ethanol fuel , serviced per manual intervals recommended. I have changed oil w Amsoil synthetic 5w-30 at exactly 4500 miles & the auto tran filter & fluid are swapped every 35k. It purrs like a kitten & will crawl a wall , not joking . these are very dependable vehicles that only exhibit problems* if the very specific & necessary maintenance routines & procedures are followed closely & accurately. (* there were some small numbers of bad blocks the 2012 year Pentastar had it's 1st year & which some saw sand in blocks cast channels ,but most of those were weeded out long ago ...) these 2007-2010 get bad wrap , but they were just transmissions that were not mated with a suitable power plant and thus underpowered when driving on the road)
I guess its pretty reliable.. But one main problem here in middle east.. I Their service and maintenance cost is very bad... Specially in kuwait.. I hope dodge/jeep make some changes on the owners of this company in kuwait.. 👍👍 (all mulla & Behbehani Kuwait)
I have a turbo too & 4 years later is running fantastic…I saw a video of a guy with turbocharge engine just got 80K and according to him, zero issues!…I feel confident It will do well, time will tell!
Track bar, drag link, tie rod, check those first. Have someone turn the engine on and turn slowly from full lock to full lock while I visually, manually (with my hands on the components), and auditorily inspect for any play in the tie rod ends, drag link ends, sector shaft, trackbar ends/bolts/brackets, and trackbar bracket welds. Then, do the same thing but with short, sharp, quick back and forth turns of the steering wheel between the 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions, instead of the slow, lock to lock approach.
Cheapest 1 ive been able to find is 13k and its missing its fenders and the tires are in a illegal setup so you definatly got a steal of if found this in 2020 to 2022.
Im 16 and i just bought my first vehicle, it was a 2009 jeep wrangler x sport(2 door) with almost 180,000 mileage, it has a check engine light for an evap leak and ive tampering with different things and i cant figure where its coming from, should i be concerned? Is it going to effect the gas mileage?
Great jeep find but I would replace the motor with the later 2012 if you can find one. Those motors really suck when you lift and put big tires on them. Fellow Jeeper
not if you do those things properly which implies regearing the differential gear / ring gears to then be suited for driving such larger ,heavier wheels . most people think they can just slap a lift & some 37s on a jeep but it ain't that simple to do it correctly.
Looking at a '13 right now myself. It has 200,000 miles on it and I can get a deal as it is RHD used for rural postal routes. What has me interested, outside of a few that posted otherwise, the 3.6 has already proven to be an extremely reliable engine. Plus this Jeep has extensive service history. They are offering right at $10k which may seem high but is almost $5k below KBB pricing and i'll just pay cash. I would just go ahead and replace the radiator, alternator, water pump, and timing chain. That way engine wise it would be in good shape. Go ahead and also replace the bushing with a kit. The parts are not that expensive and I can easily do all of that work myself in a couple of weekends. My use would be low miles anyway as I just want a cheap Jeep to use as a toad behind my motorhome. There is not a single bit of rust other and a few very light surface rust spots underneath. Should work out great. I have no plans for a lift. Just larger tires that fit stock and just replacing a few sun faded parts.
Good video your model as an automatic is a little sluggish because the gearing is much worse than your TJ -it’s not the engine. The 2012 on up model corrected it for the automatic
Junk yards are usually crashed vehicles. Then they are sitting in the elements often exposed to rain, snow etc... How would you even been able to pick a good one from a junk yard?
When you upgrade - if you go to big tires/ wheels, lift, then you will find why you got 3oo k. If you don't re gear it, you will rebuild it. Trust me, brother.
Depends on the level of "rebuilt". He didn't mention that. Could've been just a top rebuild (valve job), a valve and rings, or all the way and change cams and crank. But if maintenance was followed as he was told, it should not have required a rebuild of any sort. Unless the engine overheated or something... I would've have questioned the rebuild. I had Jeeps and I did need some repairs, but then, I was pretty rough on them... ;)
SEE THAT'S THE THING. IT'S NOT ABOUT MILES AS MUCH AS HOW MANY YEARS IT WOULD LAST. LOOK AT ALL THOSE CHEVY SUBURBAN AN TAHOES FROM THE 90s TO NOW. TWO MANY MILE
Do not lift it and put bigger tires on it. You will wear down the front end joins and it will turn into a money pit. Those tires are great and the best for a stock JK and don't worry about 12 year old tires as most of the tires for sale sit in the warehouse for over 10 years.. Go to your local auto store and buy a patch tire kit (plugs) and patch your own tire. You should have a patch kit in your trunk while off road. Message me for any questions as I have the same jeep with 250,000 KLM's on it... running like new. Keep it stock and it will last forever !!!!
Hey, thanks for sharing. The new ones are priced between $40k and $45k. Your tags, taxes and insurance should be pretty low. You prolly paid cash. Recession proof.
My '08 Wrangler has 15K miles. I should donate it to the Smithsonian. By the way, Jeeps have 2 doors, a stick shift, and a cloth top. These hideous four door creations are minivans.

congrats on your car dude. as long as you are happy wih it who cares what anyone else thinks.
is $27,000 alot for a lifted 2016 jeep wrangler unlimited sahara with 92,000 miles????
Yes
No
Well 2 years later and I got a 2015 with 57,000 miles on it for $23,000 marked down from $27,000. So maybe that was a bit high priced back then.
Shut up
@Dean Toma if an engine doesn't make it past 200k without needing a rebuild, it a POS.
What about the transmission and electrics.
my 2011 unlimited Sahara is modded w everything available except a full weld-in cage & 1 ton axels. It has 96,000 on its v6 & 42RLE autotranny & 5.13 Yukon's. Axles are Artec builtup as far as available + gussets, trusses, better lockers front/rear, all guts ) and rides on a full Synergy Mfg 3" Stage III lift / control arms
it's only ever had non ethanol fuel , serviced per manual intervals recommended.
(* there were some small numbers of bad blocks the 2012 year Pentastar had it's 1st year & which some saw sand in blocks cast channels ,but most of those were weeded out long ago ...)
these 2007-2010 get bad wrap , but they were just transmissions that were not mated with a suitable power plant and thus underpowered when driving on the road)
Wait it’s held up well yet the engine needed rebuilt? Lol I’m confused
The engine was rebuilt at 304,000 miles. So it held up great for a really long time before needing work.
I've been on the fence on trading in my jk 2011 for a new one bur honestly I need to stick with being debt free and fund my other projects and ideas
My 2011 JK just blew up at 152,000. Had to think long and hard about fixing or buying a new car. Decided on a new jasper rebuilt engine.
Update? Still have it? Still running?
Great job my 2007 runs great and I 130,00 miles on my jeep
I guess its pretty reliable.. But one main problem here in middle east.. I
Their service and maintenance cost is very bad... Specially in kuwait.. I hope dodge/jeep make some changes on the owners of this company in kuwait.. 👍👍 (all mulla & Behbehani Kuwait)
i have a rubicon in the same color and same build. currently at 290K and don’t expect to let her go for a while
Not sure I would invest in a lift and such with a 3.8 and 300k. But all the best.
i wouldnt use the word invest at all either way lol
What's wrong with a lift on a 3.8 engine?
Nice video as always! Wondering how the new 2.0L Turbo engine reliability will be
Alberto Chaves a 2.0l turbo fiat engine probably not great lol
I have a turbo too & 4 years later is running fantastic…I saw a video of a guy with turbocharge engine just got 80K and according to him, zero issues!…I feel confident It will do well, time will tell!
It’s a solid engine. No issues.
Any one suffering from death wobble??? I 18inch on my 07 came stock...so losing oil somewhere and death wobble is crazy 🤪 any solutions 160,000k miles
As soon as I heard the engine was rebuilt I was OUT!!
@Speed Gate 😂 facts!
@Speed Tube not Toyotas. Toyota’s need to be rebuilt after like 600,000+
You don't think making it to 300,000 miles before a rebuild is good?
@@Clay-i7y Even if the motor was new or rebuilt there are way to many other parts on a vehicle with 3000,000 miles that WILL go wrong with it.
Wow this is encouraging. Thanks for posting.
I have a jeep Cherokee Laredo 4.0 v6 with 282k on it still running strong
Hows it holding up now?
Cheapest 1 ive been able to find is 13k and its missing its fenders and the tires are in a illegal setup so you definatly got a steal of if found this in 2020 to 2022.
4 door Wranglers don't look right to me. I bought a 2020 Wrangler Willy's edition 2 door. V6. No turbo 4 bullcrap. I love it
Hey man I have a 2013 JK with a black twill soft top. If you still have the Jeep. I’ve been wanting a hard top. Willing to swap. Let me know.
It'll effect passing emissions/inspection
Where it’s headed next? lol I have the same jeep. Over 300. Set aside a few dollars. Most of the work you can do yourself. Enjoy!
How did it hold up ?
You guys should reach out to this guy for an update. No telling how many miles it has now
I have 119k miles on my 2009 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Absolutely no problems. So far I find it very reliable.
Bad Santa very minimal recalls actually. And my Jeep has never left me stranded. Actually, my Toyota had more recalls then my 2009 Wrangler.
LSanti and you own it so he can’t say shit. Lmaoooo
I got a 1999 tj on 33s with 286k miles she still run good just a bit of a dog take time to get up to speed with the 4.0
Great jeep find but I would replace the motor with the later 2012 if you can find one.
@@j3ff3ry18 Do I need to regear with only 33 inch tires?
Would love an update on this Jeep
$8800? 😮 Sorry man, but you got screwed, big time.
Just thinking the same thing
Facts
Yes, $8,800 sounds way too much to me. You can find a decent Landcruiser for that price.
Damn. You paid too much for a 2008 with that many miles on it. Smh!
Shit it makes me even happier that I bought a Jeep to hear that, my 2017 only has 12k
With proper maintenance and a careful ear/eye, any wrangler will last.
I have a 2013 wrangler 2 door, but doesn’t that seem like a steep price he paid for that? Almost $9000 for 300,000 miles!
it would have been 14k here in georgia atleast
Good video your model as an automatic is a little sluggish because the gearing is much worse than your TJ -it’s not the engine. The 2012 on up model corrected it for the automatic
Replace all the valve stems. The aluminum will oxidize and blow out. Great looking Jeep.
So how many gearboxes have you replaced within 300K miles?
None considering he says it's the original other than engine rebuild
Don't tell Scotty
Spot the crocs in the reflection 😂😂
223,400 on my 2007 6-speed
I wonder why people rebuild when u can grab an engine from a dodge van in a junk yard
Junk yards are usually crashed vehicles. Then they are sitting in the elements often exposed to rain, snow etc... How would you even been able to pick a good one from a junk yard?
@@Clay-i7y I know yards that pull expensive parts and store inside
I stopped watching when you said the engine was rebuilt at 304k.
I have the same exact seat covers for my jeep
I really like the color
When you upgrade - if you go to big tires/ wheels, lift, then you will find why you got 3oo k.
If you don't re gear it, you will rebuild it.
Trust me, brother.
Rebuilt not equal to reliable lol
This was 100% going to be my comment.
I had Jeeps and I did need some repairs, but then, I was pretty rough on them... ;)
It supposedly had top end work at 300,000 miles. That's nothing unusual, most cars need work with that kind of mileage.
Enjoy!
Buy a Jeep and enjoy it. When the engine goes out, just ls swap it. I’ve always wanted an ls swapped Jeep.
It's a good buy! Good luck thanks for sharing 👍
4 the money nothing beats xj.
SEE THAT'S THE THING. IT'S NOT ABOUT MILES AS MUCH AS HOW MANY YEARS IT WOULD LAST. LOOK AT ALL THOSE CHEVY SUBURBAN AN TAHOES FROM THE 90s TO NOW. TWO MANY MILE
Get that thing to Las Vegas for a gm V8 powertrain swap.
Enjoy it!
dude paid 8800 for a jeep with 300k🗿🗿
😂
I hope he budgeted for further repairs.
That’s what I was thinking!! I hope more people dish out like that.. keeps my value up..
1:40 is no one else going to mention the rusty nail in the spare?
Maybe watch the whole video before commenting.
@@jprime5128 I would if the video wasn’t trash
and how much " preventative maintenance "?
Soon as I seen 300k miles I knew it would be the 3.8. Not them junk pentastars
Did anyone else see a rusted nail in the rear tire? Just Incase check don’t want to get a flat and need the spare.
That's not the spare. He pointed out in the video that he ran over a nail, got a flat, and talked about how the spare looked stock.
John John lol
Nice person, but feel bad he paid that much for a 300,000 mile jeep. 🤦🏻♂️
He can sell it for more than that today. Same one currently for sale in Colorado Springs for $11k
Um from Mississippi an looking for a jeep
That's cool is made it to 300k but the title is a bit misleading as you said the motor was REBUILT!!!!
The motor wasn't rebuilt until AFTER 300,000 miles. So yes, it made it to 300,000.
Lufkin!!! I live about an hour from lufkin. Good ole East Texas!
Damn for $8800 you coulda got a 4runner with lower miles and way better reliability.. I would never pay that much for a 304k mile vehicle.. Yikes..
I live in picayune mississippi
I am on my 3 rd motor smh
Do not lift it and put bigger tires on it. You will wear down the front end joins and it will turn into a money pit. Those tires are great and the best for a stock JK and don't worry about 12 year old tires as most of the tires for sale sit in the warehouse for over 10 years.. Go to your local auto store and buy a patch tire kit (plugs) and patch your own tire. You should have a patch kit in your trunk while off road. Message me for any questions as I have the same jeep with 250,000 KLM's on it... running like new. Keep it stock and it will last forever !!!!
My 2018 jk hqs 82 000 km.. yay me...
After the lift and tires depending on size...REGEAR
Do I need to regear with 33" tires?
Hey, thanks for sharing. The new ones are priced between $40k and $45k. Your tags, taxes and insurance should be pretty low. You prolly paid cash. Recession proof.
My '08 Wrangler has 15K miles. I should donate it to the Smithsonian. By the way, Jeeps have 2 doors, a stick shift, and a cloth top. These hideous four door creations are minivans.
