    I have a SATA power cable without the 3.3V rail. Will it fry the adapter or the SSD?

    Hello. Is there an enclosure like this one available for a PCIe SSD. Its a 256gb SSD from a 2013 Mac Pro. I want to install it in my 2012 Macbook Pro, but need the enclosure. Thank you

      There isn’t no. You are better off buying a SATA SSD with our Sabrent enclosure as the MacBook would be limited to the SATA 6Gb/s so you would be severely underperforming the PCIe SSD. Also as far as I’m aware (correct me if I’m wrong) but it uses a PCIe 2.0 SSD with a different connector than the m.2 PCIe that are common on the market. So even if you found a PCIe to Sata enclosure it wouldn’t work with the Mac Pro SSD as almost all modern PCIe SSDs over the past 5/6 years (maybe more) use an m.2 key.

    How this adapter slow done M2 drive? Or does the speed remained the same as factory one?

    • @SabrentUSAOfficial
      @SabrentUSAOfficial  2 года назад

      It’s basically the same, of course we can not guarantee it as you can imagine with the amount of M.2 SATA SSDs out their, some being better than others and work better than others but we have an average 4.5 out of 5 star rating on amazon with over 4000 reviews. I have tested this of course for many years now and we haven’t noticed any issues with speed differences. It’s more dependent on how well your M.2 SATA and SATA connectors work on your motherboard as each motherboard even can provide different speeds, not anything you will notice of course but there is always some variables

      @@SabrentUSAOfficial sata III is capable up to 600mb/s whereas NVMe 7000mb/s. You trying to tell me that if I put NVMe SSD to this adapter I will have speed over 5000mb/s going through sata III?

    • @williamharmon7626
      @williamharmon7626 2 года назад

      @@nofateify No one is trying to tell you that. These adapters are simply a way to use old or spare NVMe M.2 SSD's to be used on a SATA port at SATA speeds. We often have a large number of SATA ports on our motherboards that are not used, this adapter allows you to use them for NVMe M.2 SSD's. We even have enclosures that allow M.2 SSD's for USB or Thunderbolt, at the speeds of the specific port, not the PCIe NVMe speed.

    • @SabrentUSAOfficial
      @SabrentUSAOfficial  2 года назад +2

      @nofateity You are talking about NVMe, however almost all B and B&M Key SSDs are SATA not NVMe. You cannot install an M.2 NVMe SSD in this enclosure. This is to repurpose M.2 SATA SSDs which typically run at 500/550MB/s. These use the B or B&M keys whereas M.2 NVMe SSDs use the M key which this enclosure doesn't work for. I did mention this in the video but maybe you didn't watch it all the way through. SATA and NVMe are two different technologies. You are confusing the two and applying this confusion to an inaccurate comment. If you would like to know the differences between M.2 SATA and M.2 NVMe then we have a video on this.

    Not including a spacer for the back end of the module is beyond dumb…
