Hi - I have one of these apart right now . Same fault as described and seen. Powerup , turns back off. I felt this seemed like a protection fault , so i unplugged the AC supply into the DC rectifier ( or at the DC output from the rectifier block ) ...this is mounted on the rear of the heatsink. End result is you are removing the +/-38 vdc that runs to the Amplifier Board section itself.... and the Arcam then poweres up properly and does not turn off. Display works ,and does the switching. I removed AC power and pulled the IO boards out ( ie the top and middle layers that carry all the inetrconnects ) . Immediately i could see the two 15000 uF @ 80vdc electrolytics are swollen, AND there is a small tantalumn on the board behind the large caps that has split in half . So - its right in switching istelf off ! .... So now to have any chance of this fault repaired , its a full dismantle as the base board has to come out to swap out the damaged caps as a minimum . Lord knows what else is dodgy ! C5483 and Resistor R5483 are TOAST plus the two big caps . Wish me luck.

My avr400 is exhibiting the same problem; turn on via remote and it immediately shuts off. One more attempt and it turns on. However turning on via front panel power button works ok. Did you get yours working? What parts did you replace?

Had the exact same problem with a Harman Kardon, very similar to this Arcan ADR400. That's the problem with these extremely complex integrated amp systems. Once some internal function is tripped causing this, it's a real quagmire trying to solve this, could be any number of reasons, not the least of which is installing new firmware (basically it's a computer with an amp/receiver wrapped around it). I tried pulling various boards out of the HK, looking for suspect parts, tracing out the power circuitry, etc. At a certain point I just didn't want to bother with it anymore, would be ridiculously expensive to take it to a certified tech shop (got it used at a discount, was great while it worked).
My tendency now is to go for separate components as needed. If I just want an amp to power my speakers, listening to an audio file or stream, that's more than enough.

The HDMI-out has also intermittently stopped working on my AVR400. Did you manage to sort it out?

bobiras96 I got a repair quote for $500 Canadian to install a new HDMI board, which has to be ordered from Arcam UK. For now, the unit just sits in a box in storage.

Hi Guys, recently picked Arcam AVR360 that turns on and then goes to standby after few seconds. When I remove the supply to the main board via BN508 (96V) the amp stays on!. all output FETs are good and no shortage found at main board. one thing is strange that when I cool the thermistor on the heatsink the fans will turn on for a few second and then will go to standby. I got it to work once not sure why it worked, the sound was crappy compare to my Arcam 9 amp. there are too many people complain about Arcam AVRXXX... sadly the sound is not that superior anymore. Very disappointing. Will not touch Arcam AVR... forgot to mention that the Transformer is humming too.😞

WHATS ODD IN THIS VIDEO IS WHEN YOU SEE THE POWER CORD OF THIS RECEIVER IN THIS VIDEO. IT DOES'NT LOOK LIKE THE POWER CORD THAT COMES WITH THIS UNIT.................& A POWERCENTER HAS TO BE PLUG IN TO THE RECEIVER, NOT THE WALL SOCKET.........
