  • This is a quick test video! I am restoring this ca. 1942 pecan cracker. This video shows slow motion views of the "Rube Goldberg" mechanism as I figure out how it works and how to adjust the machine. The only documentation I found was the original patent papers which were not very helpful! It only cracks the pecan-- it does not shell it.
Made in San Antonio, Texas, I bought it at a tool sale in 2019.
"Theoretically" it is supposed to be automatically adjustable to crack (not shell) pecans.
Any constructive comments will be appreciated!

I just love this type of machinery. It shows that six years of college are not necessary to improve the world.

    Very nice.
Laynie will have no shortage of pecans to make pies with!

You need to insert an intro to this movie that says: WARNING! Nuts may have been harmed in making this video.

Guilty as charged! Many nuts were indeed hardmed! However, 5 # of Georgia pecans in the shell are on their way. I got it working but ran out of Texas natives!

At 1:58 the silver spring does not look original. The tail sticking out looks too long. Just an idea.

It is not original. It really just provides some opposing force.
