Serbian Railways get a lot of traffic down single track main lines. I look forward to track doubling that is now in progress particularly between Belgrade and the Hungarian border. Ideally Nis to Thessaloniki needs doubling too
Currently next big section is Novi Sad-Hungarian border (upgrade to 200 km/h), and big reconstruction of Belgrade-Montenegrin border (famous Belgrade-Bar section with lots of tunnels and bridges, it will be for 160 km/h). Section Belgrade-Novi Sad with 200 km/h will open in september 2021. Also government signed a deal with private company for construction of station building in New central Belgrade station (in return they get commercial space around the station), construction will start in oct/nov 2021. As for Belgrade-Niš, it will definitely be upgraded for high speeds soon (with doubling).
