      eBay or Amazon. They are pricey. Search for Author Houston Price. Collecting Knives. They made 15 editions. 15th is the best one and it’s the last one made. It was published in 2008.

    Couple of great old knives. The shield fit and finish on the Boker is first rate. It's hard to pass up a Stockman pattern. The Craftsman saw cut covers look like something Schrade would have done.

    IF THAT WAS ME HAMMERING on that pin I would miss and hit the scales and crack them, I would have to use a punch to hammer against to avoid that

    • @theknifedoctor
      @theknifedoctor  3 месяца назад

      Well, I didn’t. And it wasn’t you. a punch will damage the scales worse than the ball ping would if you miss.

    Great job on the Boker and Craftsman. Because of your great channel, I have started working on my old knives and cleaning them up. Have uncovered so many diamonds in the rough. I look forward to your RUclips channel every day. Thank you so much Doc

    Thanks Doc for more great knife saves! What grit belt do you use for blade sharpening? And how do you decide when to use the belt versus the stone?

      I reshape and start the edge on my sander and hone it in with my Field guided Work Sharp Sharpener. I use 240 to 400 grit. The finer the grit though caused more heat.

    Awesome video! I love unwinding from a hard day of work to your videos. Honestly had a stressful day today and your videos literally help melt the stress away and help me relax! So thanks for that. Also just picked up a bench made mini freak as a birthday present for myself , I don’t spend money on myself much but after watching your channel and wanting a good knife for years I pulled the trigger on it. I just picked up a rusty old survival knife with a spoon and fork that I’m gonna clean up. Thanks for getting me back into knifes I used to collect them as a kid! Thanks again !

    Good morning Doc. I just wanted to say thank you for what you do, and thank you for your service. I am a USAF Vet. Your videos have inspired me to start hunting knives. I picked up my first restore project at a Pawn shop yesterday. I am only looking for knives that need some rust removal and miner work for now, at least till I get some better equipment. The knife I picked up a wood handled case xx barlow 1965 to 1969. it has a darker wood handle with brass bolsters it was really rusty and cleaned up nice. After I cleaned up the new to me knife and oiled it up I used my work sharp field sharpener and now it has a scary edge on it. Thank you again for the inspiration. I love your video's and watch daily. God bless you and your family. Sending love and respect.

    I have a question, I saw a CASE knife a few days ago that is a redbone stockman but the blades all three were very worn down and I hated to leave it, I could probably buy it for 10 dollars or less, but my question is if I bought that can I send it back to CASE and have them put new blades in it? If so any idea what they would charge for that ?

    • @theknifedoctor
      @theknifedoctor  3 месяца назад

      I don’t. They would put new blades in for you. They would give you an estimate.

      I’m jealous of that leather apron , I might have to put that on my birthday list! Great piece of personal safety equipment. I do have a full face shield. Started wearing one when a 2 x 72 Scotch-Brite belt disintegrated… luckily it didn’t grab my knife…or me … be carefull out there . We are dealing with dangerous equipment… it’s all good if we follow safe practices…
      I know some very good craftsmen … true geniuses.. BUT THEY HAVE MESSED UP AND PAID FOR IT. In the elevator trade or at home. And they said after : I usually do this or usually do that….. but just that one time they didn’t. Or was distracted. Having a clean work area can be underestimated…. Try to minimize chaos….
      ( and by the way, when you do mess up, even just a little… stop what you’re doing. Take a break even if you’re in a rush…. Calm down…. Then go back to work.)
      OK, I had 2 cups of strong coffee this morning knife doctor … the social drinking of coffee and watching the knife doctor has its repercussions lol! Hope y’all don’t mind my rambling!!

      @@Jimthechevywheelman Ramble on brother, it’s knife stuff. I’ve had a pot of coffee already while I watch the Doc & George, except I have a few more distractions. #1, I live in the mountains of Colorado & my easy chair overlooks the mountains at 8,000 ft thru my picture windows. #2, what goes with coffee & knife videos?, tobacco. I chew Stockers from back east in Kentucky. It’s cheaper than the big boys but well worth it. Sorry for ramblin, Carry On Brothers!
