Hello ASL Heroes!!! Hey, if you are in a position to, I could really use your help. If you’ve enjoyed having access to an expert in ASL you can help me continue my work for you. A small monthly donation from you would instantly make a big difference here at the studio because teachers don’t earn much and I could use some help paying for server and domain hosting for Lifeprint.com. Right now you can help out a humble (not to mention kind, caring, generous, compassionate, helpful, friendly, fair, and hard-working) ASL teacher -- just go here and a few clicks later you too will be a true “ASL Hero!” www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=64QMBRBXQSV6G Thanks! - Dr. Bill p.s. Want to have your very own USB drive with four semesters worth of ASL videos (that’s the equivalent of two years of colleges classes) for just $79.95? See "SuperUSB" in the ASLUniversity bookstore at: lifeprint.com/bookstore/bookstore.htm Take care and love to you all. :)
Bill Vicars hello! I learn a lot from ur channel, and I was wondering if u have an online class? When I’m in highschool, I’m 13 right now, if I score high enough on the ACT I can take asl college courses. I’m trying to prepare for it, and cannot find any online courses that are trustworthy.
Hi Dr. Vicars, I am hard of hearing and I just started learning ASL through your videos in order to be able to communicate if I cannot wear my hearing aids. I just finished lessons 1-15, but what is the best way to watch or “study” your videos? You are an awesome teacher by the way. Thank you for putting your lessons here on RUclips.
I recommend you go through the lessons at Lifeprint.com see: www.lifeprint.com/asl101/lessons/lessons.htm In case you haven't seen it yet, here is the official ASLU RUclips master playlist: ruclips.net/p/PL6akqFwEeSpiLwRFA3ZvuOWMwPXwI7NqA That playlist includes extra videos that might be helpful in rounding out and/or expanding your vocabulary. You may wish to occasionally use the vocabulary playlists to do a quick memory refresh of previously learned material. See: ruclips.net/user/Lifeprint-signsplaylists However all of that is meaningless really unless you find people in your life with whom you can practice and have meaningful interactions. So I recommend you start informing your social media contacts about Lifeprint.com and my channel, etc. so that perhaps other people in your life might fall in love with sign language and start learning too. That way you'll have people with whom you can use your newfound signing skills.
@@sign-language Thank you for your reply. I will do as you suggest and take a look at Lifeprint.com as well as tell people in my life about Lifeprint and your channel. I'm already watching the ASLU master playlist and watching every video on it. I may start over and take a look at the website as I go. Thanks!

Removing "hand and wrist" jewelry is a way to reduce visual distractions and keep the focus on the hands. Compare it to asking a song singer to spit out their gum. It is the same reason why I wear black -- to provide maximum visibility for my hands.
Just because a video gets "published" in 2020 doesn't mean it was "recorded" in 2020. This pandemic has me digging through old hard drives to find previously unpublished teaching sessions.
For answers to signing related questions such as this I recommend you first check out the relevant entry at lifeprint.com For example, see: www.lifeprint.com/asl101/pages-signs/g/good.htm Then, if you still have questions about basic sign differences (or even complex ones) I encourage you to ask your question at the Facebook page I have set up to support people using the Lifeprint (ASLU) curriculum. See: facebook.com/groups/Lifeprint.ASLU/ That is a good place to ask about THANK-YOU vs GOOD. Tip: If you ask a question that no one there can answer feel free to tag me from within the thread after a day or so.

Well, if she went to "singing" (via voice) class after leaving her "signing" (via hands) class I would hope that she would spit out her gum. For "my" class though -- her gum just wasn't on my radar. Priorities.

Bill, why did you have Sarah remove her watch?
Removing "hand and wrist" jewelry is a way to reduce visual distractions and keep the focus on the hands.
Compare it to asking a song singer to spit out their gum.
It is the same reason why I wear black -- to provide maximum visibility for my hands.
I got a little confused when you asked US president who?, the answer confused me.
Just because a video gets "published" in 2020 doesn't mean it was "recorded" in 2020. This pandemic has me digging through old hard drives to find previously unpublished teaching sessions.
In case you were wondering, Megan answered "Oboma". Mr. Vicars corrected her and spelled "Obama".
👍👍👍
Is there a distinct difference between "thank you" and "good"??

you're both to each other but the view can't see
so I guess Sarah isnt singing today?

@@sign-language she is chewing gum thats why i mentioned singing .
Yup. I got that.
The watch was a priority.
The gum wasn't.
@@sign-language I agree with the focus on the hand. I found the gum chewing to be distracting too.
the lady made everything more confusing
her hands are below the table
