It's a very sophisticated and ancient art. Original flamenco is Gypsy. That's how it arrived to Spain many centuries ago. As you must know, they are tribes that migrated from India and spread one of ancient Hindu dances.

I've been living as well among Arabs for many years because I'm Israeli and their dance also has nothing to do with flamenco. I dance Jewish, Turkish, Caucasian, Arabic dances and could tell you for sure that flamenco is not originated in any of them. It might have a flavour of some cultures but originally it's Hindi. Even non gypsy flamenco today has obvious moves from Hindi dances as well as their dresses and flower in their hair. Greetings🙏

Had a friend that owned a UK freehold ( land and house) house. She gave a long lease over 80 or so years to people in downstairs apartment. They kept complaining about the noise of her walking about even barefoot as bare floorboards, so she put down heavy carpets still complained. As she was out during the day Gave permission for a local charitable Spanish flamenco dance group( she was friend of owner) to use main large living room for lessons free after rolling back carpet 9am- 6pm every day bar weekends. They sold up very soon…..

Very interesting you should mention river dancing. Fact check me if I'm wrong, but the Celts, much like the Gypsies were nomadic. Mainly originating from the Middle East and India, I believe. So it's really no surprise that much of their cultures kind of bled into one another and formed the beauty that is Flamenco and Celtic dance.

Flamenco dance originates from Dabke which is a folk dance in Levante. In its original form they danced by stepping their legs and they moved it to Al Andalus with the Umayyad Empire. The flamenco music originates from Arabic music and was played with the Oud the grandfather of the guitar
