    Protecting your capital is much more important than making money. Basically because if you lose your capital, making money is much harder. ''Missing the train'' vs. ''losing your money''. There are a lot of trains, but if your money is gone, it's over.

    The thing that people are not taught about money, it took me a while to figure this out, the power of money isn't what it can buy. The real power of money is what it allows you to say NO to. Crappy job - if you have alternative sources or at least an emergency fund you can leave job and find a better one if you need to. If you go out and buy a bunch of stuff on credit, new car with $1000 month payment, credit card bills, etc. then your job and your money owns you. If you can manage and make money YOU control you. How many people are working crappy jobs for people they HATE because they have credit card bills, car payments, vacations on credit, etc. Control your money. Don't let money and debt control you!

    We never talked about money when I was growing up. If anything was said, it was usually negative in the context of an argument. So…I was left to fumble through life and figure it out on my own. Now, at 58, I finally understand much more than I ever have about money but, bad decisions made previously, have made it very difficult for me. That said, I am taking all four of my sons to an investing workshop this fall. It may, I say may, be too late for me, but if I can set my boys in the right direction, I will consider my life a success. Thanks for your video.

    • @aok6694

      Nice statement. I believe, however, that the reason that families did not have conversations, especially in the 50s through 80s, is because the general public did (does) not know how money works. Most people only understand how to consume, not establish wealth. So, even high wage earners during the period I mentioned somehow assumed that money was earned to burn - not because they wanted to do so, but they assumed they had to spend to make what they earned make sense. This message was delivered to their children and others under their influence. People are becoming wiser about money now. So, that narrative is slowly changing, in my opinion. And, you are doing the best thing for your sons. Kudos to you. Also understand, it is not too late for you. If you maintain good health, you will be around until around 90, that is 32 more years. In encourage you to begin wealth building now. There are a lot of folk who learned about wealth post 60 years and became wealthy in their later years. Why not you? Much success!!!

    I simply what to say thank you for sharing. I am a Black American born into Generational Poverty and Ignorance of how the world Really works concerning Money.
    My Parents while living in the Projects, put a good work ethic in me and a knowing that I was as good, as I MADE MYSELF. This was happening while the America, in general, projected a group of people that had no hope. To elevate out of the class you are born into happens to a very very small percentage of People, even in America.
    That said, I retired at 41 from the Army, as planned, and now have enough resources to put $1K up a month for sharing with those that are not as fortunate as I am. All that I contribute to the idea that, I can do as much or as little as I want, Money is not Evil, and I need it to have some peace in this World. I did not have a high paying career, but I had an Excellent Long-Term Pan :-).

      @@patricknwanna2512 right now I just have my kids collect coins and explain the value amount. They are young so that idea is hard for them.
      You kids probably old enough to count and make change. I would start by explaining those concepts. Pay in cash. Have him count your change at the store ask him if the clerk did the math correctly. Maybe teach him how to write checks when you pay bills sit him down a couple of times.

    • @ELee-zv5ud
      @ELee-zv5ud 3 месяца назад

      @@patricknwanna2512 First they have chores around the house suitable to their age that they do as a member of the family. E.g., setting the table (with non-breakable dishes two-year-olds can do this) clearing their dishes & putting them in the dishwasher , making their bed etc. Aside from contributing as a member of the family you are teaching them life -skills. These increase in complexity as they get older. Second, you provide them with a SMALL allowance as a family member that they can spend as they wish BUT you do not bail them out if they blow it all on candy in one day. That's it for candy etc that week. No extra treats or candy that you buy. The purpose is to teach them if you spend money it's gone & you don't have any more so they don't end up like thousand of adults who are bankrupt & lose everything or can not control their wants so pay money sharks to buy food. Thirdly you offer opportunities to earn additional money by taking on extra chores. Mostly importantly you involve them from an very young age (yes it takes more time) with making purchases- groceries are a good starting point. Have them help you with deciding what you need for the next week, use either an app or the flyers where you look at prices & decide what's a good buy, maybe apples because they are on special instead of oranges because they aren't discounted. Price comparison is an important skill to master. Once kids are a bit older say 10 & already starting to handle their money increase their allowance but also add some items they need pay from the allowance that you have been paying that they need to pay (i.e., if you take them to a movies as a family thing, they have to pay for any popcorn or pop/candy they want because they are older-it's their money to spend or not but you're not going to automatically pay for treats anymore, you specify this with them. Every so often you do BUT NEVER in response to begging/demanding ). Its also a good age to have them open a bank account, most banks have programs for kids, so you can remind them about how their bank balance is growing. Once they have a bank balance you can start talking about what they are saving for. Short term goal (likely a toy) and long term. A really useful thing with girls is around 12 give them a clothes allowance. You set out what you will pay for, (underwear and a few things) the other clothing items such as running shoes, regular shoes, winter boots provide a price range, same thing with pants, tops, even with a big ticket item such as a winter coat. Make it within your means, but make it clear you can not go over it. (You can always buy that really desired item as a Christmas /Birthday present.) I learned a really valuable lesson as a 16 year old, as I wanted a winter coat that was beyond the budget limit for a coat. My mother agreed that she would add $ 50 to the amount so I could get that one but that there would not be any coat money for the next 2 years. I came to loath that coat but wore it for 4 years and became a long range thinker in terms of purchases.
      The most import thing is to teach them how to control their impulses and think long term.

    first time viewer here, it's about the family unit, it's about laying the ground work to better the next generation, it's to mitigate the struggle for the next generation, it's about contributing to the pack. My older cousin once told me a story about my grandfather talking to her as a little girl maybe 8 or 9 years old. She was the first one born in the U.S. in his broken English he proceeded to tell a 9 year old that he expected "big" things out of her. That he had a college fund for her as she would be the first to have the opportunity to go to school. In 1976 she opened up her own coffee shop on the upper west side of Manhattan. Today she is in her mid 70's & stills goes to work 3-4 days a week, she is the neighborhood un-anointed mayor of the block. Yes from small things one day big things come!

    I'm 28 years old and just starting to invest for the first time. Growing up in a Jewish household, my parents always stressed making smart decisions early, especially when it comes to money. Now that I'm finally getting started, I’ve been hearing a lot of mixed opinions. I'm beginning to question whether asset allocation really matters this early on. With ETFs and index funds tracking the broad market, I’ve heard they can sometimes include underperforming stocks, which might affect overall returns. It’s got me wondering If I am overthinking this, or should I be more selective?

      I’m nearing retirement myself, and I had similar concerns. I started investing later than most, and just relying on ETF compounding wasn’t cutting it for me either. After working with a financial advisor, I managed to restructure my investments and am now on track to retire with around $5 million. If I hadn’t sought advice, I doubt I’d be as confident in my plan right now

    I don't really know much about Jewish culture, but I have observed something very interesting. When I sing in the streets (I have done that a lot when I was younger, and now I am still trying to get out of the career slump caused by Covid, plus an incurable disease), people from all over the world and from all walks of life stop and listen, give me money or gifts and compliment. The most common feedback they tell me that they have never heard such a beautiful singing in their whole life. But it's extremely rare that Jewish people would even turn their heads toward me or smile, let alone give me anything. It ALMOST NEVER happens.
    Not even when I sing a beautiful, known Jewish song!! It's like as if a lovely woman standing there very visibly and singing with a voice that fills the air and reaches far, wouldn't exist at all.
    I received money and all kind of things, also invitations from local people of various cities, from tourists, from a royal family member, from businessmen, from children, from homeless bums(!), from tough teens, - but I could probably count on one hand how many times I have got a few coins from Jewish people, through long years. Orthodox Jews, that is.
    Why can that be?
    On the other hand, people from Israel who are obviously not Orthodox Jews, are very nice to me. I even worked with an Israeli composer who made a few songs for me, this is one: ruclips.net/video/mAhAjjeCaDc/видео.html

My faith, inspired by my Christianity & Jesuit education, is personal and unique; not dogmatic & rigid. I believe in heaven and an afterlife of sorts. I also believe that I don’t have the right or power to judge others. That’s my faith. I do believe that I will see God & heaven on my journey. Sometimes I get glimpses of both in my dreams & my life; nature, family, & people being the best version of themselves. I have no right to judge anyone else on their journey.

    You might feel like your upbringing and hard work lead you to where you are but you don't see many other factors like wealth, good family,health and luck. Tell a person who got cancer or a person whose house brunt in a fire, they didn't work hard enough to "be who they wanted to be"

    As always, a great analysis. Newcomers often wonder if it's too late to navigate the financial market, but the market is always unpredictable. Trading has more advantages than simply holding, so it's important to learn before diving in. Active trades are necessary to ride the market's waves. Thanks to Evelyn Infurna’s insights, daily trade signals, and my dedication to learning, I've been increasing my daily earnings, managed to grow a nest egg of around 127k to a decent 532k. Kudos to the journey ahead!

      Retirement is now more difficult than it was in the past. I've been saving for a long time instead of investing, and right now I only have about $400K. considering all the inflation, i'm thinking of investing in stocks, i dont just have idea on market strategies.

      The increasing prices have impacted my plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and save for the future. I'm concerned about whether those who navigated the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am currently experiencing. The combination of stock market volatility and a decrease in income is causing anxiety about whether I'll have sufficient funds for retirement.

      This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. I've been utilizing a portfolio coach for more than two years, and I've made over $800k

    When I was in college in the 70’s I worked in a small investment firm and was the only Goya there. As the youngest they would have me do all the filing of various news articles of companies they own stock in. The culture was very different from what I was used to but the lessons that the owner (Lewis Gilbert) showed me stayed with me to this day. Better than anything I was taking in college and I was an economic major!

    You seem like a kind man. I taught my children differently than you about life and money. My son is very good at math. I was not thrilled he could become rich because of that blessing. I asked him how he planned to help others with it. I told him he never worked hard to be good at math. Bless others with your gift and God will notice. Success may be the softness of your heart and not the size of your bank account. At least that is the God I know.

      Take it from one of the slave class, I wish money had been more important in my family. As Christians they, and I, were taught that money was evil and not something to be bothered about. The result was generational struggle at low wage jobs. (Low compared to professional work.)

    • @tomekialloyd8221
      @tomekialloyd8221 4 месяца назад

      @@itoibo4208 That's true. And the truth is, this is not even a Biblical concept. The Bible says that the LOVE of money is the root of all evil (idolatry). God often placed many concepts all over the Bible that show he cares about us making smart choices with our money and assuring that we are stewarding it well. Unfortunately, teachings on this deviated into error and began to pass down through the generations.

    Thank you sir, you spoke with immense wisdom I wish my country's school system will include this in our school curriculum. Corruption has damaged my country almost beyond repair because of people's lack of financial wisdom. Many people join the government to siphon the country's wealth because they cannot think of any other ways of becoming rich or well off. And the same thing with those in the private sector who believe that stealing from others will compensate their lack of opportunity in the government.
