I’ve been saying that something needs to be done with some of the quality control on these rc’s for awhile now. Buying an $800 rtr and it comes with a $15 crappy servo or missing screws or very loose screws/bolts on brand new rigs. Defective parts you’re starting to see more and more of. If these companies want to put out these $800+ rtr’s for people to buy step up the quality control step up with a higher end servo just step it up period it’s not like you’re not making money hand over fist.
I can't comment anything better than @Kdogg so I just wanna say,,, THIS, what Kdogg said, 100%. Some premium RC might be worth $800+ but at that price you expect premium, not cheap-o, missing screws, stripped screws, missing grease or fluid, and not "standard" parts that need to be babied.
I purchased a Arrma Mojave In late September 2021 and I have ran two battery packs through It before putting It to bed (So to speak)for the winter ,and I got It out last week with some nice weather we had for a few days and I did not even get through a battery pack and the servo failed and I had to replace. I know that I should have had warranty look after It but me being from Canada I know that Its more of a hassle and headache to have It fixed under warranty unfortunately . So begrudgingly I purchased a new aftermarket servo and has been good as far. I very much agree with the amount paid for these upscale R.C's they should have better quality components Installed. I am not hard on my truck and dont bash very hard because I cannot afford to rebuild a rc truck after every run and It really pisses me off when I drop 1000 CDN and I have to replace internals after two and a half packs with easy running and a dry sunny day. Makes me wonder what expense I will have to shell out for next I am a RC fan In general and have no manufacture that I am loyal too, I purchase what I think I will enjoy and I feel arrma makes a good product But the components they choose Is CRAP In which In turn makes there product look cheap and leaves you feel like they just dont care about there customers.. A poor way of doing business. Unhappy customers equals no costumers in the long run.
Sorry to hear your pain pal. . . . . But that's what you call an honest reveiw. All those dollars and we're expected to suck it up. . . . . . I'm sick of it to. Not just Arrma by the way 👍
It takes a big Guy with courage to express his emotions TO the masses. And a man with a heart to do it FOR the masses. Salute to you! 🫡 Thanks for being you and doing what you do.
Ya for some reason takes forever to get the warranty one but why not when you can and seem to get better QC and more attention than put in the vehicle.
And the droop screws use to be where they had the hex on top so you could adjust easier, but now you have to get it from the bottom compressing the shock and not a good angle for good tools. Sorry. Your frustration brought mine back out on Arrma. All Traxxas has been good to me so far except the Motor has already been warranted and the center diff gears were CNC'd wrong. Took for ever to figure that one out. Even the tech at hobbytown told me to drive it till more pronounced as we had looked over everything EXCEPT the center diff. Finally sounded like a s pellet machine gun going forward or braking. They called in the warranty and 3 months later I ordered some from California that got here in 4 days. I had them put those in and when they got the others I got those aswell. Since I had to purchase to get it done quicker. And did you know Traxxas does not sell Xmaxx center diffs? Traxxas told me that. WHAT?
A well deserved Rant. I upgraded my steering servo due to the stock one going bad on second battery. At the price point for this Arrma I was very displeased. Horizon did make it right and since the upgrade I have had 40 runs with no issues a of yet. I do run shallow endpoints but my bashing is for my entertainment so I rarely share footage.
Amen brother!! I had a new mad van that couldn’t make it through a battery without something breaking. Sold it and Kyushu will never grace my bench again! There loss like you said there bottom line!!
mine died also within a month, even the esc died after 1 month running ... i don't want any spektrum stuff anymore. Had 2 esc die on me in 2 months ... fireteam and talion ... hobbywing to the rescue.
The typhon 3s I bought in Dec of 2021, the second run the servo pentameter went out only allowing to tur left, waited 2 months for 2 months due to backordered (should tell you something, not on back order because people are buying them) then 2nd run after fixed the motor seized solid, 3 month wait for the motor, and then the warranted servo went out 3 days after getting motor. F it bought an eco servo, great by the way, incase the next warranted didnt work I was gonna stop getting them. Needless to say knowing it was gonna take forever again and went ahead and put the eco in. The warranted one is ready to throw in any 3s'seses I have for a back up incase I have a problem. My Outcast 6s v4 is great with the Arrma electronics, Kraton 6s v5 lucky so far but rarely run it as I love the car but don't want mess it up even thought it's one of the most stable but has Spektrum in it. If you cant tell the typhon 3s was my most frustrating. PLUS THE 3sLINE YOU PRETTY MUCH HAVE TO TAKE THE SHAFTS APART AND TIGHTEN THE LITTLE HEX CONNECTING THE SHAFT TO THE WHEEL HEX!! THAT MAKES NO SINCE!!! ALSO HAPPEND ON MY 7YR OLD GRANDSON WITH THE TYPHON MEGA I GOT HIM TO TAKE BACK HOME TO FLORIDA!!! if I knew it was like that he would have started with a traxxas. But he wanted one like grandpas but green, so that's what he got. We went to run them together while he was here visiting and his wheel went flying past his car and when that happens you can lose a pin like he did. SK it cut our run short and by the time we went back to the hobbyshop and fixed it it started raining.
It's all good man, we all have to vent from time to time. It is pretty ridiculous that the servo died already. I've certainly had my fair share of rants with my RCs haha.
Sorry for your trouble guy! Thankyou for the Entertainment! Yep Quality control went out the window w Covid. Sledge is 850 w tax and there still puts monkey metal gears in these things?
Great video Guy. I went through a bunch of spektrum servos. Then I switched to the power hd servos for about the same price as replacing the stock spektrum ones.
I would have bet on that Handbrake servo going out before the steering one. Sucks man! Good to know though bc I may as well order my upgrade for mine when it goes out. Arrma cars are known for free trial servos. Thats always been my biggest gripe with them bc they never add long lasting servos in their cars.
I had my rant yesterday when I over tightened the set screw on my DB pro on the rear drive coupler too tight …which stripped the screw then took about an hour to drill out 🤣😂🤣 minor things that happen in this hobby that keeps me wanting more … kinda crazy but make ‘em break ‘em and fix em … just BREATH 💭💭💭
ahhh.... the negative emotion of frustration with a hobby, it is inevitable to creep up from time to time, all we can do is work thru it, or walk away for a bit, which is hard enough if we caused an issue, but its double frustrating when it comes from poor workmanship in a product we buy that we expect to be a quality item for the prices we pay. and I 100% Agree that we as the consumer need to start demanding to get what we pay for, or we take or buying power elsewhere
I think these are the same servo that come in the vortek rtr 3s, both mine in the first 5 packs took a crap on me. They really need to fix a few things.
It is a good vehicle and you shouldn't just base opinion off one of that's what you're doing BUT this truck as factory set is just different. You will have to do things to it to be a basher if that's the eventual intent
Yes please quality control is a must right when I got my DB and TT pros that was the first thing I did was take out the servos too s***** of servos for that good of rigs
And instead of BLEEPS it's edited out. Man I feel your pain with arrma. Like buying a Dodge and the power steering goes out first day. Except you dont get a loaner while yours is recalled. Just wait 3-4 months on back order and take a chance that craps out too, or buy a better one after spending so much on the vehicle. ALL SERVOS FOR ALL RCs SHOULD START WITH METAL GEARS NO MATTE HOW MUCH YOU PAY FOR THEM!!! There are still aftermarket for when the life runs out of the first, but not have to upgrade gears to real steel (AHEM TRAXXAS) or crappy servos (6s and above on both of your houses) SHAME! I remember Toys R Us in 80s and 90s stuff that lasted onger that some of today's. The big difference is they use to say (scale 100 mph) now out of the box at 100. Seems they should be working on their electronics before putting out new 80-100 mph RC's. Besides imagine someone's servo going out at 80mph. Funny they will tell you if it ain't broke dont fix it esp in the rc world.
Damn these cars are so freaking expensive now, and I agree, they shouldn't be junk for the amount of money they're charging. These things should be QA'd to the max before they are released. And by the sounds of these comments, it's a common problem.
how do you know what your truly getting when u by rc parts i just bout some drive shafts for my slash and they didnt last one pack before the joint snapped and u cant get just one gotta buy all four so i guess we gotta take it like life crap happens and we have to just deal with it and try to enjoy wrenching weather it be life or an rc god bless guy and get out there and keep ripping i am.

with the price of these rc,s it's almost like your better off buying a used rc. and just upgrading it with a good servo esc and service all the diffs. I just put a 9imod servo in my kronos. 45 kg servo. all alluminum for 35$ from ebay. came from China. took a few weeks to get here. looks sweet..time will tell. where I live there are no used rc,s to buy. so I gotta buy used from ebay or buy new. I've done lots of research on the rc,s I own. some times I get lucky some times not. @@rcguygarage I found the on ebay. Searched for cheap rc servo. They popped up. Plenty of listing on ebay. I never heard of them. But they came with plenty of hardware also. I'll be testing it out this weekend. If it isn't raining again
Afterwatching your channel for along time. When I seen the title and video picture I was thinking if I was there I would smirked at you and said it's your fault just to be a dink. Is it an rc guy garage factor.. maybe so. I personally would like to see the statistics on it. If they have sold 1million and say 10 thousand where bad. Then that's pretty decent.i recently bought a notorius 6s v5 and on my first drive I could hear some weird noise the odd time I put the breaks on. So with less then 5mins on the rc I have takin it completely apart and gave it full maintenance. Noticed the center diff was leaking as well when I went to redo them. Added a new gasket with 1mil weight and it still leaks. So now the warranty is off. Still has 5min of use on it and I gotta take it apart and I guess I'll toss some silicone earplugs into it just to bypass any leaking issues.
Guy funny thing is the absolute same thing happened to me yesterday, just wanted to rip after work and 5 min in the servo melts , but the servo actually melted in the bulletproof Mugen🚧🤬
Lol as you rant it's a horizon commercial, I have hpi savages 25 yrs old original servos . But like everything these days , nothing is made to last probably bad bearing from the get go. Hey at least I didn't get it lol that's rare. I'll buy a coffee cup well 10 so you can get a servo. I feel your pain many have I'm sure.
I thought it was just me. I struggle with steering racks so damn bad!!! LOL I starting buying them whole from Jennys or Vitavon just so I dont have to take them apart.
@@rcguygarage I've seen servo gear teeth completely snap off, but multiple teeth bent not snapped off is odd! Steal pins holding gears in place!!! Why are teeth bending and not snapping of Fitting issue or crap metal???

well my bad watched on in ur vid guess it is ur servo i was wrong but, sometimes it is those pivot balls to tight making the servo work harder.... TOAD!!!!

Brand new 69 losi camaro, first pack servo quit working, first time out with arrma vorteks the rear cv joint broke just driving around in the yard. I work as a quality inspector 35 years and I have not seen such poor quality. You are %100 correct when you say we are the bottom line. All these china manufactured RC vehicles are a joke.
Still waiting for the watching out of the window live 😂😂😂🤪 Glad I didn’t buy the arrma firehouse 😂 Horizon just don’t have any quality control. Each and every rc from arrma has a few issues right out of the box, just my experience maybe 🤔
💭🤔 I would love to purchase this RC fire team, but my issue also is quality control. It’s like armor and the rest of these guys has just got to the point they shoving junk out the door and expecting everyone to just take it to boycott at this moment, they rob people with no gun.🤨
This guy always looking for warranty handout. He did the same thing to Amainhobbies. A servo breaks or doesn’t function correctly isn’t always the manufacturer’s issue. Maybe the user was at fault. Always two sides to every story.
ya it is sad that we pay that much money for an rc car and they put a 18kg servo in a 20 pound car it is way to small in my opinion. On the other hand clean your work area 🤣🤣 my ocd is kicking in
Spektrum is TRASH...period!! I gave up on them not too long after I got into the hobby. I bought one their "high end" servos and it came DOA. Wasted about 150 on it. I didn't even try to replace it with the warranty. I was having problems with the Spektrum ESC and the receivers too. I said to hell with them and I've been happier ever since.
Right you leave this comment which is awesome but you're not saying what you replaced things with that could possibly be helpful to others that are experiencing the SPEKTRUM ISSUES👍💯
@@rcguygarage Currently I use Futaba servos because my controller is a 7PXR. I even won a Futaba servo/receiver combo in a raffle they had a few months back. I've also had success with Reef's servos also (Triple 5 and Raw 500). The Raw 500 was my servo of choice before going with the Futabas. They are both pricey but they WORK and once installed you can forget about them.
The sledge is not better from what im seeing. The aftermarket is already working on a chassis and a motor mount because the mount is garbage. The gears are also garbage. Spur teeths flying off. Seems like everyone is breaking them theres no stock!😹
Traxxas is just as bad I just had an esc critical failure and a tire rip apart in the first run on grass and they wouldn't help me out other then tell me they can send me a new esc after I send them mine back and pay 70 plus shipping
Setting the end points or dual rate is important. Servo trying to turn more than it physically can kills servos
I did this to both my 6s Arrmas and but are still on the stock servo after lots of use.
Ya. This was all really obvious. But had to be said apparently. 🤦♂️
Also it’s the plastic housing that cracks in those servos. The support arm push and separate.

When one of my kids Granite blx servos went bad. Amain gave me same servo because the Granite blx servo was out of stock.
Thing centers weird!
AMAIN is tops but even THEY are being pinned to the mats by Horizon
@@rcguygarage SOOO TRUE AND SAD😪
Spectrum should just stick to radios
Lol 😆 🤣 😂 love it keep up the good work man
20:38. The manual says this.
Right I don't read so that's the issue
Your second sentence has ME SMIRKING🤣😂🤣😂👍💯👊
That's funny not really mine went out Easter. I had maybe 6-7 packs thru my fireteam but a cartwheel finished mine off
The real question is "was it deserved"?
Guy funny thing is the absolute same thing happened to me yesterday, just wanted to rip after work and 5 min in the servo melts , but the servo actually melted in the bulletproof Mugen🚧🤬
WOW but was it deserved?
@@rcguygarage oh ya I’ve put it through it’s paces,
My friend takes his dirt bike apart after every run. He cares about his hobby. If you wanna buy an 800$ car and drive it like you stole it. 💀
😜🤣👍 the slide of quality in too many things is bad
Then stand on top of the trailer?
Awe HELL NO cause then I'm have to jump off every five seconds to FLIP A TRUCK
Man that sucks I was struggling with changing the steering rack for 2 hours lol been ripping my kaiju
I thought it was just me. I struggle with steering racks so damn bad!!! LOL I starting buying them whole from Jennys or Vitavon just so I dont have to take them apart.
Sad part is you haven’t abused this rc at all ground driven rc car 😳
EXACTLY!💯 I took the ARRMA TOUGH RC out to just have a FUN RUN to end up with just MOOR frustration due to possible QC it's just not cool.
very great insights 👍
If you have a bad servo try swapping out the bad gears!
I've done this a few times just to change from 23th to 25th.
Yes $20 option👍💯 but opening this case made me realize the absolute crap fitment
@@rcguygarage I've seen servo gear teeth completely snap off, but multiple teeth bent not snapped off is odd!
Steal pins holding gears in place!!! Why are teeth bending and not snapping of
Fitting issue or crap metal???
Just the not being able to call and talk to a costumer service person has turned me off from any purchase from Horizon Hobby.
Have to schedule a costumer service call!
Give me a break! NO!!!!
NO BREAKS FOR YOU🤪
@@rcjunkie260 right unknown as I don't have a microscope to look deeper😜🤣
@@rcguygarage 🤦♂️🤷♂️
well my bad watched on in ur vid guess it is ur servo i was wrong but, sometimes it is those pivot balls to tight making the servo work harder.... TOAD!!!!
👍💯
I pay to see the un edited version . . . . 🤣 awesome
I thought I saw the servo sitting uneven.
YEP!!! Is this purposeful or lack of QC
@@rcguygarage lack of QUALITY CONTROL from management 🥇

I have a losi baja rey with spektrum internals and I've gone through 3 servos in 2 months with that monster I feel your painbro
SpEKtRuM ToUgH BaBy
yehh.. stock servos sometimes dead fast!
Yes and that's not cool👍
The spektrum servos are definitely horrible 🤦🏻♂️with that being said the stock one in my outcast exb has been fine since it was new
That what they call a "crap shoot" 🤣😂
Heck ya guy. Keep calling out these rc companies. They need to be held to the quality they promise. Oh they see your posts. Keep speaking the truth👍
My Notorious has been sitting for over a year with a melted center diff. Finally get around to fixing it and the servo dies for the second time 5 min into testing. Seriously Arrma?!?!?
ya got to ask why they have 250 off the outcast 8s. 969 down to 720. I'd love to jump on this deal, but red flags all around!
YEP! They compound jumped prices ACROSS THE BOARD and now DANGLE these SALE ITEMS
Rc guy great vid and you are right for that kind of money we spend in these rc to get those smiles for miles we should not have problems with a couple packs run on a rc not like u can call them for warrenty you can if you become a member for 100 dollars great vid man keep up the hard work later 😎😎👍👍
GREAT COMMENT👍💯
RTR electronics are pure cannon fodder. If the junk worked as well as the car looked, no one would ever have a problem.
Still waiting for the watching out of the window live 😂😂😂🤪
Glad I didn’t buy the arrma firehouse 😂
Horizon just don’t have any quality control. Each and every rc from arrma has a few issues right out of the box, just my experience maybe 🤔
No your absolutely right. Warranty isn't the resolve
Yea every Arrma servo is trash. I’ve broken them within the first run multiple times. Before I run any new Arrma I swap out the servos
Why is this fair to the consumer and YOUR POCKET???
I ALWAYS enjoy the show buddy.... 😜💥💯
👍💯
Maybe this isn't a similar car but have you tried the Axial Ryft? Great vids just subbed!
You know what I've actually thought about that very car but the slower speed and designed for type has me not following through
@@rcguygarage It seems wild, still interesting and different.
No more rtr rc let us put our own electronics in it
I miss arrma electronics. These spectrum not very good. Motor and esc ok but that's it.
💭🤔 I would love to purchase this RC fire team, but my issue also is quality control. It’s like armor and the rest of these guys has just got to the point they shoving junk out the door and expecting everyone to just take it to boycott at this moment, they rob people with no gun.🤨
If they don't they won't keep their steady part support supply chain going and cashing in
This guy always looking for warranty handout. He did the same thing to Amainhobbies. A servo breaks or doesn’t function correctly isn’t always the manufacturer’s issue. Maybe the user was at fault. Always two sides to every story.
Not sure about ALWAYS but yes we pay for the warranty and I'll go after it if I feel it's justified 👍💯 I like your "handout" choice of wording 😜
If you think this sucks, you should try owning an MT8... It's a race to the bottom now and as with any race, Associated insists on winning.
Love your honesty brother! Totally agree with you! Great video! 😎🤙
Everything said, needed said...except that you wish it was a sledge. How dare you! Haha
ya it is sad that we pay that much money for an rc car and they put a 18kg servo in a 20 pound car it is way to small in my opinion. On the other hand clean your work area 🤣🤣 my ocd is kicking in
That IS clean😜🤣
This Hobby is really starting to suck dud Traxxas Alma team Corally Losi they all have game
Fireteam is just not great. At least include a middle metal cased servo:/
You need to calm down I’m sure you have a spare servo somewhere
Oh I'm calm at any point of the day every day
Spectrum... BWAAHAHAHAHAAA.!
