    Prime Attribute on RHS of FD is allowed in the case of 3NF
    3NF allows 2 condition:
    1. Either LHS should be super key
    OR
    2. RHS should be Prime
    Thats why BCNF is stricter than 3NF since it does not allow condition number 2, but it is allowed in 3NF

    Sir..@ 3:08
    3NF can be explained like this: A table is in 3NF if it is in 2NF and for each functional dependency X-> Y at least one of the following conditions hold:
    X is a super key of table (or )
    Y is a prime attribute of table
    But according to you left hand should be prime or non prime ???? Please Clear Sir.

    You have amazing explanatory skills. :) I am in Master's in Canada and just wanted to refresh my concepts of normalization and your series served the purpose completely in less than 2 hours for me. (even my prof here sucked at explaining this) :) Perfect. And the blend of Hindi/English is music to ears :)
    One thing though, your erred usage of "do/does/is" in English bug me a lot ;) although its a very small thing but it really hits me every time. If possible, please try to correct it. Anyways, awesome series.

    • @raunakmaheshwari2034

    • @heeralkadam2388

      Really omg I doubt if you're really working in Canada omg always finding mistakes in others teaching is a psychic act and atleast he is trying to help others free of cost not showing off like you by commenting here merely . So go and show your fake skills somewhere else and try to appreciate others efforts .

    • @MinhazMurks
      @MinhazMurks 6 лет назад +20

      The funny thing is you are trying to correct his grammar but your grammar is awful:
      "erred usage of "do/does/is" in English bug me a lot" should be bugs*
      "...although its a very small thing but it really hits me every time." no need for but
      and you randomly capitalize words here and there, so please try to correct it.

  • @hannanahmed1587
    @hannanahmed1587 6 лет назад

    Your explaining is good and your examples are good.
    One question that I would raise is that where are the tables ? where are real time examples using tables ? Making A B C D E F and joining arrows that is a good work to teach basics, but this is a thing that I can do now in front of a class after listening your brilliant basic tutorials of 1 2 3 NF, Disappointing thing is that when we deal with real example in case of tables, that is where actual problem arises. That is completely missing.

    Hello, please someone help me;
    If ı have a table JKL and ı have the functional dependencies JK->L and L->K ; JK and JL as keys. How can ı decompose this table into BCNF. If I decompose it as LK and JK tables than ı loosed the dependecy JK->L so how can I decide and move on after that?

    I have a doubt i hope you would see this message and reply me. before designing relational model we design the er model but when we come to relational model we decompose some tables and then no no of tables will imcrese then in that case the number of entities in er model will be different from the number of relation in relation model since the entities of er diagram is converted to a table in relation model then how can we say that this er model logically reprents the final database?? I hope you will reply me soon sir.

    sir, how to check this relation for 2NF ?
    R(A, B, C, D)
    A -> B
    B -> C
    C -> {B, D}

    • @AnandBodicharla

      Yes, it is in 2 NF, Basically we need to check whether there is a partial dependencies or not?
      Definition for partial Dependency is Non-prime attribute depending on part of a candidate key or prime attribute.
      In the above question, candidate key is A(single). So, no above relation depending on the prime atrributes. Hence it is in 2 NF.
