To be fair, even back in the earliest days of Android boot screens started with a still image of the manufacturer's logo with the occasional phone model, with a 5-10 second wait to get to the actual boot animation.

@@frostech3149 it is normal that the splash screen is shown, but some manufacturers have really boring animations (like a logo that lights up and fades). There are boot animation collections on XDA and other sites, some are really cool. :)

If you look closely on 4.4 one, when the colors almost become white, you can see the logo is the same when Nexus is upgrading (7.1-8.0 i think)
