It looks like they had a caricature done at the county fair, went to the surgeon, and said, “this…we want to look exactly like this.” Followed by the surgeon replying, “well, I do love money sooo…oath be damned, let’s do this.”
I just saw it in the news, a day or two after they both died. Too bad, they could have gotten the Vaccine and lived a few more years. They were pretty strange guys, but didn't seem mean, malicious or cruel.

You yell at kids wearing masks too, tough guy?
This is the 1st time I've seen pictures of what they looked like before all of their surgeries 🥺 how sad that they destroyed their perfectly normal looks.
“A few pounds of plastic and botox perhaps, but no fat”… this phrase sums up sooo many ppl that see themselves as “healthy and invincible”… great video Dr. Grande 🥰
Their pictures often show up in articles of terribly botched cosmetic surgeries, but I never knew who they were. Thank you for the information on these tragically flawed brothers.
Could you do an insight into the mental health of a cosmetic plastic surgeon who would willingly do the sort of work that these two peculiar characters had done to thier faces?
There is lizard man now and another guy who calls himself dee-mon, horribly disfigured, horn implants etc. Heck look at Micheal Jackson🤡 and now we got kids who think they are cats....crazytimes
It's a shame that their plastic surgeon wasn't charged with a crime. I'm sorry I said it but it's the truth. Whoever it was ripped them off. Thank you Dr. Grande, love your videos!
I, too, wonder about the ethics of doctors that do these surgeries of extreme nature. I guess it shows that (almost) anyone can be bought if the price is high enough. These guys came from French royalty and had money they could spend on this. I would love to learn more about their social life and relationships. There must not be anything known because no one has reported a thing on that.
@@Strype13 True, but it still feels wrong that doctors are allowed to do such a bad job and not be written up and disciplined by the college of surgeons and physicians for doing so. People with body dysmorphia eventually don't know what does or doesn't "look good".
@@millana100 I see what you're saying, but when it comes to cosmetic surgery, the "bad job" is in the eye of the beholder. As long as the patient is accepting the outcome of the procedure(s), I don't think any liability exists for any sort of disciplinary action. E.g. A third party cannot claim a doctor made somebody "ugly," and propose some sort of disciplinary action based on their own opinion of what constitutes the word ugly. That would be setting a very slippery precedent.
Being French as well I'd like to emphasize, similar to some other users in the comment section, that the Brothers Bogdanov were mostly loved by the French people. In interviews and as told by people who met them in person, they were consistently kind, respectful, polite, eloquent, down-to-earth and cheerful. Despite their mistakes, they were genuinely passionate about science and had in-depth knowledge on it like almost nobody else in French media. It's important to reshift the focus on remembering them in a positive light ♥️
You guys lovedJerry Lewis, too😅. I'm just kidding. They were on a scripted show, but apparently when they had to do their open research and analysis in the field of science, they couldn't competeor pass muster.
As a french too : they had a scientific culture, they had real knowledge about the history of the scientific field of mathematics and physics, more than the layman, but less than a real historian of science or scientific about his own field. And probably that some scientific journalist had more knowledge than them. But we can't denied them of some scientific culture. But this doesn't mean they had real scientific skills and deep theoric and operational ( = how to use some tools and software in a study) knowledge. We can't deny them that they know how to appear kind, respectful, polite, etc because it was an ingredient of their popularity in french media and with their fans. It is important to reshift the focus on the positive aspect of the Bogdanov brother ? I don't think so. Their fraud was a part of them, their lack or real scientific skills too. But we can take in account their apparent "bonhommie", good character. The fact that they tried to appear more competent that they were still have to known.
Your analysis is on point, but I would like to add that they were always gentle fellows, at least in their TV appearances. They were polite, soft-spoken, genuinely enthusiastic, and were appreciated by all. When they started to transform their faces, French people made fun of them, but they never seemed to mind and always were good sports about it. In short, they were blatant hoaxsters but gentle fellows, articulate, and fun to be around from the outside. I am aware that they were accused of stealing money from a rather feeble gentleman, but to my knowledge, they both died before the case went to court. One detail that I found interesting is their African American grandfather, Roland Hayes, a famous lyrical singer that had an affair with their grandmother, countess Bertha Kolowrat-Krakowská. Because of the scandal, the mother left Austria to live in a castle in the Gers region in France, where they both were raised. May they rest in peace.
That's right, I met them in social events, one can not say they were ever embarrassed or ashamed, and that's part of the mystery, because they were really grotesque. I found their show boring, so I'm not surprised they were frauds, but what's not fraud on TV? There was something curious about their castle too, they didn't want to sell it but did nothing to improve it, so it's a ruin now. Really bizarre and superficial persons...
The university that awarded their PhDs and the journals that published their work are more despicable than Bogdanoffs themselves. Individuals often try to get away with things. Institutions should not enable them. Lots of people within these institutions had many opportunities to say, This is not acceptable. Hope they were embarrassed at least.
Same thing when it comes to Hollywood royalty buying their children's way into prestigious schools. Same thing with Hunter Biden. His father's influence got that crack head into Harvard.
@Patrick O'Mallay I would profoundly disagree. It depends on your field. Some PhDs are taken very seriously. Others, like education or business administration, are not.
Hi from France! What a surprise it was to see that you did the Bogdanov case! 😁. I think you re absolutely right! Vanity was their main nemesis… I remember their tv show that was cool and they were very cute…. But even at that time, we could see they were looking at themselves as superiors to others…. About their surgery, they were very making fun of because of the fact they wanted people to believe that they did nothing, that it just happens one day…. As if they were from another world I guess… Very sad… I guess they must be happy in heaven because they have never been so much spoken about when they were alive…. I hope my English is understandable enough for you to get what I meant ☺️. I wish you all a great day!
This was probably one of my favorite videos of Dr. Grande. I didn’t know who the twins were prior to this video but I loved how he included a possible diagnosis at the end and explained why. Thanks Dr. Grande!
As a Belgian (they were famous here as well) when I read the title I thought "oh boy, this is gonna be an approximation at best, he can't possibly grasp such a complex case so quickly" but I'm genuinly impressed, you understood them better than most people who have known them all their lives do. Especially since they were well connected and protected from public scrutiny.
I would have never thought that the Bogdanovs’ fame would have made it out of the Hexagon! I remember watching their show on Tv in France; there should’ve been a spoiler alert saying “for entertainment only “ Lol No one at the time could understand their reasoning behind turning themselves into the grotesque figures they ended up being. It is not so shocking nowadays as we kind of “seen it all” but have we really?...affaire à suivre...
@@littleredwitch They turned into an internet meme about several years ago. They were given roles of some dark masters playing games with the crypto currencies, crashing the market or pumping it, to make hell of the life of an average man, named Wojack. It's all a rather complex scenario lol, it was for fun, and not some kind of actual conspiracy. That made them famous, because that meme is still quite vivid, and it used their real names. Faut dire qu'ils avaient une sacrée gueule.
How were they 'protected from public scrutiny'? Seems to me their whole lives were a quest for public scrutiny, their attention-seeking narcissism was off the scale!
This sort of situation used to be called “Folie a Deux”: Shared psychotic (delusional) disorder. The brothers’ intense closeness, emotionally and functionally, allowed each man’s faulty perceptions and beliefs to unduly influence the other. Tragically, there was no external person able to act as a voice of reason. Further, the twins’ notoriety was a moneymaker for many people, who undoubtedly chose to exploit their issues rather than attempt to address them.
They honestly looked nice before the surgery. I envy their relationship yet feel sorry for them at the same time because the word codependent pop into my mind.
The problem was that the parents and grandparents had built them up to royalty level. Just because the grandma had royal connections, didn't make them princes, kings or emperors. They were charismatic and good looking young men but their attitudes just stunk, but that's just my opinion. My father was an Oxford graduate and professor of engineering and has met the twins. When they were discussing physics with him, he knew they didn't have any idea what they were talking about. Dad told them that he worked on oil rigs in the North Sea and Louisiana and they seemed appalled at that, for some reason, as if it wasn't good enough for an Oxford grad. These guys had some nerve.
They weren't " built up" to be royalty they were royalty. The problem is they were raised in isolation on an estate in the country side, this would have contributed to their poor socialisation. The reason your father likely had the opprtunity to meet and con verse with them if he actually did was because they had the freedom in later years and the desire to interact with everyone. Your father can rest assured he would never get the opportunity with a single English royal who were schooled with other children and had active social lives with other youngsters and therefore wouldn't crave social contact with everyone including "commoners".
As a French, i can tell those two were Seen as clowns by 90% of our people. They only had crédibility with New age weirdos. They were just a shame for us.
@@fukpoeslaw3613 je ne suis pas d'accord avec dr Grande ! Les frères bogdanoff étaient des types très intelligents et très simples . Ils ont été premiers à vulgariser la science à la télé en France. Oh my word, the timing of Dr Grande stating that “The twins denied having any plastic surgery or Botox…” with the photo of them clearly having had major work done is hilarious.
I'd not known of these fellows until the latest publicity photos of them in 2021. They looked to me like Muppet characters or some CGI prank on the internet. The true story of them belies tragedy which their faces came to reflect. I can't help but draw some comparison of their perceptions and how they behaved to our recently deposed president #45.
If you look at their photos over 50 year period it is quite possible that they have a condition called ACROMEGALY which is due to excessive production of growth hormone in adulthood. Because they are identical twins, it is not surprising that they both have this condition. It is also not surprising that they both died from covid as one of the features of acromegaly is hypertrophic cardiomyopathy which is a bad risk factor for dying from covid. Look at their faces from early on. Even as young men they are already developing abnormally prominent chins and thick lips. Initially this may appear masculine and attractive but as it progresses over the decades it starts to look rough and grotesque.
I actually saw one of them in a shop about a decade ago (I think it was Igor as it was in the Paris neighbourhood he lived in) and his appearance really was very... startling, especially considering how naturally handsome they used to be. Regardless of their issues, the twins seems like nice, well-mannered guys who were always close to each other until the end and gracious about being the object of criticism. I read that when they were both hospitalised, they wanted to share their (non-hospital, organic) meal, which I found very endearing. The biggest irony is that they feared Covid-19 vaccine while having all types of stuff injected into their faces...
“They believed their own lies,” but time after time they underestimated people’s intelligence, which is nothing new in our society. Regardless, it’s sad to learn their outcome. At the same time, I truly wonder why the Kardashians’ fame is getting bigger and bigger globally🤔
Fashion. I'm not kidding. But when plastic surgery can no longer fight gravity, they'll be gone faster than when they first came into prominence on social media.
These two looked scarier than any fictional horror monster you could imagine. They were straight out of a nightmare. I have never shuddered so much during a RUclips video.
These ‘monsters’ were afraid of a another perceived monster (the vaccine) and was killed by an even bigger monster (Covid-19)! The world is full of scary monsters if you really think about it! We just have to keep our guard up and stay one step ahead of the pack!
There's another set of twins, Darcy and Stacy Silva, that are heading down the same road with multiple plastic surgeries. They started off on TLC's 90 Day Fiance and now have a show of their own. I think there's something about the twin dynamic, with each twin reinforcing the delusions of the other, that can be very dangerous.
There's also the Wachowskis, though they're not twins.. Why are so many siblings who are closely connected end up going through bizarre operations and plastic surgeries? I can understand one's ideas affecting the other but the theme of surgeries is oddly consistent among many of them.
@@Diwasho had to look them up, as I was unfamiliar with their situation. So they're both trans. Hmm. Never understood that frankly. I mean the only reason I express as female is because that's what body I'm in at the moment.😂

What I do not understand is, how these plastic surgeons continue to "work" on patients when it can be seen these patients are being turned into Caricatures. I know it's all about money, but it seems that a truly ethical surgeon would simply say: enough is enough.
Doctors and institutions are incentivized by insurance money to do things that result in patient death all of the time. Example, giving patient blood pressure medication that lowers the body's natural coq10 ( which lowers blood pressure) instead of teaching diet, exercise and vitamin supplements to be healthy naturally and not need the drugs that make companies billions, and cause drug dependence.
Most cosmetic surgery is already unnecessary, and in my opinion any unnecessary medical treatment (especially surgery) is unethical. These people just slice up healthy people for money.
I once had an acq1uaintance who was a doctor. He did fillers, Botox, ect. He told me once that people would come in and get one filler, fell they looked better, then come back. And eventually this would spiral into them becoming emotionally dependent on how i made them feel. He told me he wanted to get more education and go into something else. I hope he did.
Interestingly enough, I’ve heard that that is also partly the reason people stay in bad relationships- they get dependent on the feeling they get, whether it’s good or bad.
“They worked for ten years so we should just give them a PhD” - no one at my university had such a generous attitude. We had to earn it by passing all of our exams (particularly the oral exam at the end of year two or year three depending on your program - it takes at least a year of prep work and includes a lengthy oral exam with your future dissertation committee plus written portions), courses, publishing papers plus presenting at national and international conferences, writing a 300+ page dissertation reviewed by our multi-department committees plus our dissertation chair, etc. No “hey they worked for free for awhile…”
Agreed. Of the many parties who facilitated the Bogdanoff brothers' charade, IMO the university that awarded them both PhD's deserves the most criticism, as it completely undermines the academic integrity of what a PhD means. I had assumed that it was a degree mill somewhere that had sold them there PhD's not an institution with even a shred of credibility.
I believe Dr. Grande took that statement out of context. It’s not true that they were awarded their degrees automatically just because they stuck around for 10 years. They did manage to convince the PhD committee that their research deserved a PhD degree on its merits. This is just something their advisor said to cover his behind when pressed on why he did a sloppy job scrutinizing their papers. He admitted he didn’t fully understand them, but thought that some ideas seemed reasonable and original. Multiple scientists who reviewed their work at the time had a similar sentiment - i.e. they found some details need more work, but overall the research looked good. This is also the reason why one of the brothers received a PhD in Mathematics - the committee wasn’t fully convinced of the physical merits, but found the mathematical part sufficiently strong. (in a similar fashion, scientists working on string theory are often considered as mathematicians since that theory hasn’t been experimentally verified to this day).

Thank you for your view on the twins. I am from France where the Bogdanoff brothers are verypopular. In the late 70's, they were considered as VERY handsome and brilliant people. They always have been very mysterious about their family origins. They claimed they were immortal. I never understood how they fell into this plastic surgery disaster, which they never admitted to have done, even Igor to his own wife ! They literally looked like freaks. Such a sad ending for both of them.
I have yet to see an example of vain plastic surgery working out long term. It doesn’t look natural and as they age it stands out more. Most of these people look great before they do it too.

@@elperronimo Yes, he's really working hard at the uber-rational, uber-impartial, uber-objective "scientist" persona. Problem with that is that he is just as human and vulnerable to the same foibles the rest of us are. He's also evaluating people he has never personally met and interviewed in depth privately (that's why he has to concede up front these are only his opinions even though he presents his argument as if he has interviewed them). Also, the science of psychology isn't a real science at all. A true scientific field of study allows for theories to be testable, measurable and repeatable. Psychology is the study of the human mind and behavior. Other than the physiological aspect of it (i.e. the structure of the brain, biochemistry etc), the behavioral theories are not really testable, measurable and repeatable for all subjects. Diagnosis and treatment also depends on the subjective judgement of a psychologist to score results (which can and will vary wildly from psychologist to psychologist). Calibrated scientific instruments or quantitatively provable measurements are not used to gather data and develop proof of theory the way they are in a real science by real scientists. This is why so many once revered psychologists are now dismissed within a relatively short period of time when trendier theories usurp them (i.e. Freud et al). In comparison, Newton and Galileo made their truly scientific discoveries centuries ago and their theories are still going strong today (because they are testable, measurable and repeatable). We can fully expect the dominate theories in psychology today will be thought of as from the dark ages 500 years from now. Especially the pharmacological aspect of treatment. Although it won't take 500 years. Just look at how recently the theory of lobotomy was prevalent, accepted and deployed widely within psychology. Same for the earlier versions of ECT.
I thought that their being twins would be more important to the diagnosis, with them confirming each other’s distorted world view. On the other hand it’s strange that neither of them stopped the other and questioned what they were doing, unlike an individual, they can see what is happening in front of them. When looking at a case of twins like this, is it like diagnosing one person or would you consider each separately?
"Above all, do not lie to yourself. A man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point where he does not discern any truth either in himself or anywhere around him, and thus falls into disrespect towards himself and others. Not respecting anyone, he ceases to love, and having no love, he gives himself up to passions and coarse pleasures in order to occupy and amuse himself, and in his vices reaches complete beastiality, and it all comes form lying continually to others and himself. A man who lies to himself is often the first to take offense. it sometimes feels very good to take offense, doesn't it? And surely he knows that no one has offended him, and that he himself has invented the offense and told lies just for the beauty of it, that he has exaggerated for the sake of effect, that he has picked up on a word and made a mountain out of a pea--he knows all of that, and still he is the first to take offense, he likes feeling offended, it gives him great pleasure, and thus he reaches the point of real hostility..." -- Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov

Regarding the diplomas, we hear all the time about celebrities and the children being admitted to college based on financial contributions. I've always wondered what (if any) academic work these people actually end up doing. The Bogdanoff brothers mistake was selecting fields of study where they would so easily(and quickly) be found out.
Yeah, they could've have gotten away with a phd in "Arts" or "Social studies" ... which cannot be 100% objectively judged to weed out frauds from the true masters
Just like Prince Harry. He was far from academic and was spoon fed his studies. Yest he believes he is the font of all wisdom on many subjects. People feed their ego when they are born with a silver spoon in their mouths.

Yep, the ethical committee has been out on this one for a while, when someone like them shows up and asks for more surgeries, you gotta turn them down. When they 1st showed up and asked for a lot of surgeries, and minimally invasive procedures, they should have been turned down. There's a line that cannot be crossed. Edit: You should go up! Not going to lie the most shocking part of the video was when you said they died at 70. From whatever they had done to their faces it's impossible to tell if they were 20 45 64 or 100, they looked so unnatural my gods 🤯
It’s really sad, kinda like M.Jackson, attractive when they were younger, but like Michael, were incapable of seeing what the rest of us saw, and distorted their faces to the point that I did not want to look at them, it was offensive. Who is the f’n BUTCHER who did that to them? Good god. Igor got done first, and Grichka said “I love it, that’s just what I want.”?
Given their aristocratic background it is also possible that the twins were raised from childhood to believe that they were somehow superior. Their early success on TV would have reinforced this. I cannot come up with an exact quote but astrophysicist/guitarist Brian May said something about his exposure to other people with PhDs. He said they did not let him get away with anything just because he was a star. It seems like the peer reviewed journals and the university in France that the twins attended "dropped the ball."
I've seen these guys in the media in the past, I honestly thought that the pictures were fake! I didn't know that they passed away, such a weird story!
I moved to France in 2007 and had never heard about the Bogdanoffs before. When I first saw them I thought they were suffering from Acromegaly. Could that have been the reason for their distorted features?
When I look at them and consider their histories, all I can think is that there is an emptiness inside and a dependency on outside approval for adoration. It seems quite distorted: their thought processes and distortion of the believability in the authenticity of their outward appearances. I just wonder about their childhood. What happened?
Alas, poor Igor & Grishka, I remember them well. Their show was called "Temps X", and it was a weekly rendez-vous with me watching and my father ranting in the background about how inaccurate their science was. The positive point being that I could then ask him why and have some nice sciencey fatherly conversation. They were the only ones doing such a show then, and I believe they did inspire a lot (well, at least, some) people to take on a scientific career, which can't be bad. What happened after was incomprehensible to me, but by then they had faded away so I - and many others - didn't really care. And I think that there lied the problem. On another note, what I can't understand is how a university can allow ten years for a PhD, knowing that rules here (France) in public unis are very strict regarding how it's done and and how long it takes. It's supposed to last three years. A fourth year requires *very* good reasons, a fifth is a rarity. I used to think it might have been some private pseudo uni, possibly off EU, in a country with looser rules, but no. It's French and public alright. Knowing how hard it is to enter a doctoral school here, the grades requirement, and the number of perfectly capable students that get rejected, it simply doesn't make sense and never should have happened. Given the way selection goes, they shouldn't even have reached the Master level. /rant
But you know how it goes: 1) getting a uni & doctoral advisor is easier for them because they are self funded = no grant proposals to write etc. 2) once they have a uni and an advisor, both the uni and the advisor have an interest in not failing them, because failing (phd) students always makes them look bad - especially if it takes them more than a year to figure out. this is even worse with public figures, because they probably have more money to first appeal a uni's decision if it is not to their liking and at some point the regular media get involved. (and they won't for the average phd dropout). so, therefore, the 1999/2002 phd board members probably thought this is the easiest way to deal with the problem: give them a minimal passing grade, and they will go away. And I guess that would have worked e.g. 10-20 years earlier, if it wasn't for their continued vanity and the internet.
They scare me. They look like human versions of one of Jim Carrey's awful movies. I'm a nurse, I've seen everything working the Dallas county hospital, these guys peg out lots of my meters. Did they have no one in their lives that loved them and said "don't do that!"? They don't look of this earth, to me. Wonder if their mom had any stories of UFO's. Thank you Dr Grande, you're the best!
I don’t understand how one can pretend to be what they are not! My husband got his PhD in Nuclear Physics at age 24 with honors. He and many other scientists are very humble people!
Your husband was an early and successful achiever. It is those who are not so talented or successful and who may have the pressure of the society they are in that are pressuring them unduly, or even their own perceptions of what is expected of them, that feel they must pretend to be what/who they aren't. It isn't hard to understand if you put yourself in the position of considering what you are NOT talented at, think what your world would be like if your weakest talent was held in the highest esteem in your society, and to be shunned as inadequate and insufficient as you are not achieving the successes that are expected and admired.
"As always, I hope you found my analysis more intriguing than a sale at a circus supply house." Hahahahahaha, Dr Grande, I love you, you're killin' me 🤣
Those two were anathema to science and living in fantasy land of fun house mirrors and circus. The fact they were given any credibility is astounding based on their actions and tee ball trophy diplomas. I’m sure after 10 years each, the university just wanted them off the campus.
Their family background and early lives, as well as the differences between the two brothers and their personal lives, might give some extra insight into their lives, their upbringing, the way they might have viewed themselves and each other, and why they might have felt a need to overcompensate a possible "flaw" in their unique family line, the very one that gave them their looks, apparently. They might have felt they did not quite "fit in" anywhere.
I JUST AND RESPECT YOU AND YOUR SHOW!!! YOUR VOICE IS VERY SOOTHING COMPARED MOST RUclips PRESENTERS AND YOUR SUBTLE SENSE OF HUMOR IS EXCEPTIONAL!!!!!!! KEEP YOU THE GOOD WORK!!!
We should also take into consideration the fact that Grichka had aspergers and that makes them very naive when young. They made it through undergrad at 14 years old I think and got into national television by 18! Imagine being twin brothers that graduate university that young AND coming from some sort of "noble" blood. I think their biggest problem was they were dragged from a normal life pretty young by the industry.
Too many layers of their identity induced self-importance, as well as grand expectations of what their lives should have amounted to. Their failure to earn PHDs as scientists may have had more than a little to do with it all being about them being blue-blooded Bogdanoffs and having "genius" intellect, rather than being about science itself. Egoism and facts do not mix well.
I agree with this analysis. TOTALLY. There was a lot of emphasis on their egos (which granted were contorted) and not even on their ACTUAL childhood. Often children really "contort" their personalities in the absence of their parents. Abandonment issues and the "push" about their bloodline may have possibly led to a strong need to overcompensate for what was lacking. It's interesting though how it manifested (through their own choices no less) to make it externalized. Frankly, I don't care about the choice to not be vaxxed and I support everyone's choice is all health matters. The Aspergers and other internal pressures to "be something" were most at play in a world without love.
From their appearance, the brothers Bogdanoff may have experimented with human growth hormone and developed acromegaly as a result. This would be consistent with the exaggerated growth of their chins and cheekbones. If this was the case, they would have suffered simultaneously from several comorbidities (among which could have been cardiomyopathy and high blood pressure), and thus they were vulnerable to Covid.
If they had Acromegaly, their hands and feet would have been distorted by continued growth as well. They just got giant chin and cheek implants, injectable and repeated eye surgeries. And who knows what else.
I love how you keep explaining their scam academic education issues, while starting to show this "caricature" photos, without yet saying about their eager to "body improvements" yet. This is what I call best teaser. Bravo!
I had never heard of these guys, and started watching this video thinking it would be good for a laugh. The ghastly cautionary tale that it subsequently turned into made watching it even more worthwhile.
@@jhoughjr1 unless I have misunderstood your comment - please note that the vaccine DOES NOT prevent you from being infected. The vaccine instrad primes your immune system and basically gives you a "head start" when infected thus giving you a better chance of beating the infection.
Really good analysis. I'd have liked to hear more about the potential "twin" relation to the various aspects of their lives, like the mirroring behaviour and actions, and presumably, how they colluded in a wide range of significant ventures in their lives. Even their aesthetic surgeries were planned and executed in synergy

Hey, over 800k people have died in America due to COVID. Seems like they'd have to give out many Darwin awards these days. And at least putting in ten years at uni-regardless of whether or not you learned anything-requires actual work.
@@TruppDriscolllol, a Darwin Award isn’t for dying, it’s for doing something stoopid - like refusing vaccinations on the middle of a pandemic - and that causing your death.
I’m curious how much being twins contributed to their delusions. Did they each reinforce each other’s delusions? If they each saw themselves as ugly or deformed, how did they see each other, given that they were identical twins? I can imagine them fighting as kids. “You’re ugly!” “I know you are but what am I? “Ummmmmm……..” Feedback loop begins!
Twin psychology is really interesting. My boyfriend is an identical twin but he and his brother are very different and don’t really communicate very well because they approach things so differently. But I think they are probably the exception rather than the norm - so many twins are inseparable!
Yeah interesting how both followed each other in delusional thoughts and then died from covid 19, definitely something to do with being identical twins.
It's still difficult for me to grasp how with humans having access to medical libraries at our fingertips, and open lines of communication on a global level, unlike any other time in pandemic history, that people are none the wiser about how to combat covid. Covid isn't the first novel coronavirus, and studying the history of SARS empowered me to outwit the bug. I can't be vaccinated due to allergies to shellfish, so a back up plan was necessary for me to develop. I think the brothers wanted attention, power, and prestige and agree with you about their "better than you" attitude. I don't claim to know everything but it doesn't mean I'm not capable of learning anything.
Anyone else remember first knowing about these two when they "presented" the French translations of the Doctor Who novelizations! You can thank them for helping bring that show as well as US shows like Star Trek and the Twilight Zone to France!
Loads of people are descended from royalty; many kings, queens and royal family members had consorts and lovers outside the (often political) marraige, and many illegitimate kids were had. There's a 99% chance you may find a royalty ancestor in your family tree, but that would be from hundreds of years ago.
Do you think being together their personality traits were augmented by each other? If it was just one of them, I wonder if they would have had the same extreme traits.
Getting older did the augmentation, I believe. As we age, our core personalities amplify. Remember Donald Trump and his orange tanning cream-skin? He looked like a regular guy before he grew old.
A sad situation here. May they rest in peace. I see their story reveals how denial of realities, trying to run from truths, can be very very harmful. Maybe we all have some of this fault in us. Thanks for the insight Dr Grande by showing the problem in the extreme form.

They would never be "pretty".LOL They were semi good looking when young. The blown up face look didn't work too well for them.I've never heard of these two before Interesting case.
I found this story to be just very sad. Two attractive young men, with no sense of self. Going into entertainment only increased these feelings , as is the way of show biz. I cannot but help think of these two as victims, of the world, and of themselves. RIP Igor and Grichka

What's unfortunate is that before the PHD debacle they really had it all, came from a wealthy background, educated, charismatic, talented, successful, famous, good-looking, successful, admired. They had it all. Now they're a cautionary tale.
It seems these twins suffered from a mental condition that is all to common in the modern age. In their minds, they are living in a fantasy world which parts often far from the real world. We see examples of this over and over in the news, social media and RUclips. And sadly, these individuals often suffer or die because of their lack of being in touch with reality. It reminds me of the title of a comedy album by Robin Williams - "Reality, What a Concept" The "dry humor" an be hilarious at times: Regarding the plastic surgery: "I suppose another explanation is the brothers stumbled on a big sale of funhouse mirrors at their local circus supply house. They only looked at their reflections in these mirrors so they looked normal. Every photo I've seen of these brothers look like a bad case of plastic surgery gone terribly wrong.
This universe is a sim. Scientific proof already exists that it is. A lot of it. A whole lot of a lot. Which makes sim denial illogical. And irrational. The majority (so far) of the human population are simbots who mindlessly obey the sim parameters to be... "entertaining"... in a sadomasochism sort of way.
Simbot... simulation-generated biological robot that mindlessly perpetuates the universe sim agenda and status quo. No matter how totally wrongful and destructive and abusive the universe sim agenda and status quo might be.
And yes, this universe really, really is a sim. Bits and pieces of the underlying sim programming code have already been found. 100% clinching it that this universe is a sim. Simbots do as simbots are.
Growing up in France in the 80's, I can testify they were very charismatic and popular. A few years back, I was shocked to find out about the scandals and to see the extent of their physical transformation. I agree with Dr Grande that their status as SciFi TV stars wasn't enough and they believed they could accomplish pretty much anything they wanted. Interesting to watch French interviews where they deny having had any cosmetic work or suffering from any disease (some speculated they had acromegalia) while never giving any straight answer. Sad, too, that they were Covid-19 vaccine deniers.
I found it more pertinent to the case as to why they skipped the vaccine. They did it not for political reasons but because they were delusional. Also, I find it interesting that they spread misinformation in their show and were demonized for it but in our current climate, “the science” is a religion. It would be an interesting case study, no?
Ils n'étaient pas des anti-vax prosélytes ! Comme ceux qu'on voit souvent hurler sur les plateaux télé. Les bogdanoff était très en retrait durant toute cette crise .
You sound as delusional about their knowledge of science as the brothers themselves were.
@@kellydalstok8900 Right? They don't have much to be proud of so may as well be these cartoons!
What?

I have seen a picture of their grandfather. The brothers look like him a little bit.
That was my first thought. This helped them justify altering their appearance.
The university that awarded their PhDs and the journals that published their work are more despicable than Bogdanoffs themselves. Individuals often try to get away with things. Institutions should not enable them. Lots of people within these institutions had many opportunities to say, This is not acceptable. Hope they were embarrassed at least.
Fair point, but the peer review process must answer, too. Not to mention the role of the journal's editor.
I agree. It is such hard work to get a Doctorate and giving the degree away to incompetents cannot be condoned.

It’s sad that so many celebrities have such bad plastic surgery! Why aren’t surgeons more responsible?
I once had an acq1uaintance who was a doctor. He did fillers, Botox, ect. He told me once that people would come in and get one filler, fell they looked better, then come back. And eventually this would spiral into them becoming emotionally dependent on how i made them feel. He told me he wanted to get more education and go into something else. I hope he did.
Same with tattoos. It is therapy.
Wow didn't think about tattoos too🤔
Interestingly enough, I’ve heard that that is also partly the reason people stay in bad relationships- they get dependent on the feeling they get, whether it’s good or bad.

No one should be given anything academically that hasn’t been 100% earned by doing the work, no participation trophies.
Idk have you tried being nobility?
Maybe they graduated from Trump University?

Thank you for your view on the twins. I am from France where the Bogdanoff brothers are verypopular. In the late 70's, they were considered as VERY handsome and brilliant people. They always have been very mysterious about their family origins. They claimed they were immortal. I never understood how they fell into this plastic surgery disaster, which they never admitted to have done, even Igor to his own wife ! They literally looked like freaks. Such a sad ending for both of them.

@@drott150 i think the part about not appearing narcisistic is a rly good point. He is clearly a youtuber like all the others(dont get me wrong, i like his content) but attempts to portray himself differently
@@bthomson Groupies are people that fuel what I mentioned earlier. Don't be a groupie.
"Enhanced their features". Whew. Beauty truly IS in the eyes of the beholder.
And surely he knows that no one has offended him, and that he himself has invented the offense and told lies just for the beauty of it, that he has exaggerated for the sake of effect, that he has picked up on a word and made a mountain out of a pea--he knows all of that, and still he is the first to take offense, he likes feeling offended, it gives him great pleasure, and thus he reaches the point of real hostility..."

Regarding the diplomas, we hear all the time about celebrities and the children being admitted to college based on financial contributions.

OMG, I had no idea they passed away... Their lives went so fast from comedy to tragedy...
What comedy ? I bet you don't even know them or you're not French to say their life was a comedy. Punk.
Narcissism happened.
Exactly. There is trauma there...
/rant
But you know how it goes:
1) getting a uni & doctoral advisor is easier for them because they are self funded = no grant proposals to write etc.
They became “professional students” :) lol
They scare me. They look like human versions of one of Jim Carrey's awful movies. I'm a nurse, I've seen everything working the Dallas county hospital, these guys peg out lots of my meters. Did they have no one in their lives that loved them and said "don't do that!"? They don't look of this earth, to me. Wonder if their mom had any stories of UFO's.

But these two lying clowns🤣🤣

Their family background and early lives, as well as the differences between the two brothers and their personal lives, might give some extra insight into their lives, their upbringing, the way they might have viewed themselves and each other, and why they might have felt a need to overcompensate a possible "flaw" in their unique family line, the very one that gave them their looks, apparently. They might have felt they did not quite "fit in" anywhere.
I thought about that too. Some parents really should be gone for good
I think that's true.... They were extremely good looking and had excellent public speaking abilities, somehow this wasn't enough :/
A very salient comment
I am inclined to think this is the case as well. Their appearance has that distinctive look.
Definitely sounds like it
I agree
If they had Acromegaly, their hands and feet would have been distorted by continued growth as well. They just got giant chin and cheek implants, injectable and repeated eye surgeries. And who knows what else.

@@feelthejoy I dated an identical twin. They were complete opposites as well.
Les combinaisons aluminium de temps X, toute mon enfance !
They were the clingons lol
No. You can thank them. I think that they were freaks
Merci enfin un bon commentaire
@@daveatkins3568 We need more freaks in the world and less assholes!
I enjoyed this one immensely! I’ve never heard of these guys but what a ride their lives were
Omg. This is amazing. I wish you were my therapist. Just one day! You’re awesome.
I seriously wish I could live my life with 1% of the confidence these guys have. I need to find royal parents.
Loads of people are descended from royalty; many kings, queens and royal family members had consorts and lovers outside the (often political) marraige, and many illegitimate kids were had. There's a 99% chance you may find a royalty ancestor in your family tree, but that would be from hundreds of years ago.
I honestly thought they were born with a cranio facial issue, this was really informative.
They ended up looking like caricatures, sad demise but not surprising.
This is a very insightful comment and I agree with you. Hopefully they are at peace.
I really dig this Dr. He absolutely cares about what he does.
They looked like they were from that British TV show Spitting Image.
I always like knowing someone's life is or has been weirder than mine. Thanks for the videos Dr. Grande.
I love going back and rewatching old Dr. Grande content. I've watched so many of his videos, my brain cannot possibly hold all this information, so I usually learn something "new" Lol
Dr. Grande, l see you could barely hold it together around 7:18. That flash of smile 😊 had me thinking: no way can you reel it in, but somehow you did. Well done sir, well done!
Omg your name is my name! That is strange
Morning Dr. G., Happy to listen to you analyze and comment on another intriguing post…twins are low key fascinating. Thanks for your steady stream of unique and somewhat horrifying content, at times…always enjoy your calm aura and smooth delivery.
Congrats on being the lucky comment dark chose to copy this video.
These brothers remind me of Jocelyn Wildenstein ("the cat woman") -- I'd be curious how Dr G would describe her, if he hasn't yet done so (I'm a recent sub so I'm catching up). She and they could be plastic surgery triplets! Such a weird resemblance.
Thank you for cutting back on the commercials! Besides your content, I tune in to see the changes of your knickknacks in the background lol! I’m obsessed lol
I always find that if you age gracefully your pretty enough. There are some examples when its needed but im sure if these two gents didnt go under the scalpel they would have been pretty enough.
They would never be "pretty".LOL They were semi good looking when young. The blown up face look didn't work too well for them.I've never heard of these two before Interesting case.
The only way to age gracefully is to accept it.
@@kristinamullen4066 Semi? They were dreamboats. The only semi involved is mine.
I found this story to be just very sad. Two attractive young men, with no sense of self. Going into entertainment only increased these feelings , as is the way of show biz. I cannot but help think of these two as victims, of the world, and of themselves. RIP Igor and Grichka
I see myself and ppl like me as being victims of having to deal with ppl like them and you. "Showbiz" is not some great evil. Being a moron is.
@@azuman7 Agreed - they're the type of guys who've tried to bully me and looked down on me at school, at work, in basically every life situation.
As often happens, such people are heading for a fall whereas people like us quietly get on with a modest and content life.
Guys who bullied me in school mostly dead or washed up losers now.
Guy who bullied me in work got cancer, wife left him, now unemployed loser.
Me just living quiet life with wife and kids I love - nothing fancy but we happy.
RIP Bogdanoff twins
@@PenisMcWhirtar The bullies from school are ridiculously overweight, have many children from multiple men that are no where in sight. They ended up hateful, hated nobodies.
I ended up with a damn good man that would die for me and my boys and their women, grandkids, cats, dog and possums that love me with every cell in their being. I have my health and every need met multiple times over. We played the game and won the title!
@@cynthiakeller5954 Good for you Cynthia - school may seem like forever, but it's soon over and catapulted into the big, wide world, the strengths of the class bully no longer count whilst their weaknesses are painfully exposed.
@@PenisMcWhirtar And they were the ones to expose themselves every time they open their mouths and with every action they make! I believe you and I have the love and support forever of the ones that count the most, the ones that make our lives happy and in the end make life worth living!
It reminds me of the title of a comedy album by Robin Williams - "Reality, What a Concept"
The "dry humor" an be hilarious at times: Regarding the plastic surgery: "I suppose another explanation is the brothers stumbled on a big sale of funhouse mirrors at their local circus supply house.
@@satanofficial3902 how big are your cheekbones?? I’m working on a theory about how their size relate to believing absolute nonsense.
@@MrRyan-wu4jx . . . Just another example of what Dr. Grande described: A "lack of insight combined with fantasy." It's pretty common these days.
