    The wife for sure creeped on the mom probably her whole life until she moved out. That’s why the mom is the way she is and knows there’s nothing that can be done because she’s already tried to help her. Probably why she’s so cold and jaded too.

      The imagery of her being so excited about it when he finally saw her is what gets me. It's creepy that someone might be watching you, but then them getting some sort of ecstatic elation from getting caught, from the realization that the person you've been watching now knows you are watching and have been watching, is mad. Also, nothing really happens. She just keeps hiding and peeking. Near the end sure she chases them, but it's almost just playful to Lynn. The eyeballs were probably the most violent part.

      My ex-gf introduced herself to me on a public bus, twice starting the convo in two times meeting each other over two months, separate occasions. The second time I asked her out on a date & from then on, we got together very quickly.
      One day, maybe around 2 months or a bit less into us being together, she shows me a video on her phone. I see myself sitting in said public bus, being filmed from a seat looking the opposite way but around 4 rows of seats down from my own. The camera followed me a bit outside even and when I walked out of view, not once even looking into its direction, the video stopped.
      I obviously was baffled, but importantly, I looked at the date: the video was taken two whole years before she had even talked to me once.
      So she admitted by herself to filming me on that day and from then on, having s**ual fantasies about me / us for over two years before finally talking to me. Now it’s about what she did after filming me, for the whole two years she had been „watching“ or „observing“ me ;
      she would start writing down when / where I‘d get off / on the bus and sometimes run or wait for an earlier / later bus to see me as often as possible, (which means she‘d sometimes wait for half an hour up to an hour because the bus line only drives this frequent, just to eventually see me), she was able to describe my friends well enough for me to know exactly who she saw me with, she would frequent spots or places in the city more often when / if she saw me there, especially multiple times, like in the library, lastly she would mirror me, if I was waiting for the train on one side of the tracks, she would basically stand face to face to me, vis-a-vis and when I would walk she’d do the same on the opposite side
      all of the above for two years from the first day she had seen me on said bus, until talking to me at all
      And again that’s just what she admitted by herself. Also she kept admitting to say one detail of the above, then check for my reaction, even being amused at my surprise etc, then reveal something new, so I found out about all details in the period of 1-2 weeks of her telling me bit by bit

    Secondly I’m so glad they didn’t take the easy way out and just attributed it to something like a ghost or mythical creature. It was actually the wife the whole time. I’m not sure why but it made the story so much better and more frightening! Well done!

      So she admitted by herself to filming me on that day and from then on, having s**ual fantasies about me / us for over two years before finally talking to me. Now it’s about what she did after filming me, for the whole two years she had been „watching“ or „observing“ me ;
      she would start writing down when / where I‘d get off / on the bus and sometimes run or wait for an earlier / later bus to see me as often as possible, (which means she‘d sometimes wait for half an hour up to an hour because the bus line only drives this frequent, just to eventually see me), she was able to describe my friends well enough for me to know exactly who she saw me with, she would frequent spots or places in the city more often when / if she saw me there, especially multiple times, like in the library, lastly she would mirror me, if I was waiting for the train on one side of the tracks, she would basically stand face to face to me, vis-a-vis and when I would walk she’d do the same on the opposite side
      all of the above for two years from the first day she had seen me on said bus, until talking to me at all
      And again that’s just what she admitted by herself. Also she kept admitting to say one detail of the above, then check for my reaction, even being amused at my surprise etc, then reveal something new, so I found out about all details in the period of 1-2 weeks of her telling me bit by bit

    It's been a very long time since I heard a Creepypasta that has been even remotely this good. The way this story is written is what made Creepypastas amazing in the first place, more need to go back to this formula. The story is ACTUALLY creepy, there is the possibility it really could have happened, you actually get invested in the main character, and there isn't necessarily a happy ending. @@Shad0wj3ster567 Yeah, I think the problem with creepypastas is there’s never any solid truth behind what’s going on. Partly because the author wants to be free to change things, partly because they think if there are explanations then it’s not scary.
      The truth is actual good horror does have a truth behind the events, even if the main character doesn’t figure it out, there is something solid here. But in stories like this characters will for no reason refuse to say stuff they could easily say because it would help the audience understand.

    This is genuinely the best horror story that I have ever read/listened to online. The narration is perfect and the voice acting/sound design is all good, with Lynn sounding like a person turned rabid and into a monster, the mother sounding cold and angry, then of course the husband who genuinely just wanted the best for the woman he once loved.
    The story does a good job in terms of pacing as it never stays on any one section for too long but still allows the viewer to develop a sense of fear, terror at points, you can see this especially at the beginning when the wife starts to act different as it doesn't stay on it for too long or anything but also allows the viewer to get some idea of just how bad the situation is and it manages to do this rather consistently throughout the story.
    The characters are also well crafted in that they do a good job at their respective roles, with the husband believably being just a frightened person who, despite how awful and scary the situation is, still wants the best for who he at least thinks is the woman he once loved. The wife is very intimidating and the idea of a loved one doing that to me and becoming similar to what she does is certainly terrifying and it's shocking as despite not knowing the character for a long time of course, it feels believable that she was once a serious and normal person who you wouldn't expect to do something like this but then she turns into something different entirely. Then there's the mother who, while I do wish there was more info about her, is still good at her role of being the distant parent figure, it's interesting to think about what happened between her and the wife in the past.
    My favourite part of the story is without a doubt just how much is left up to personal interpretation, and it helps so much that we can't see what the wife's smile actually looks like, since what I imagine her smile to look like and her peeking out from behind the corners is going to be way scarier for me personally than anything else, it's also interesting to think about what possibly happened between the wife and the mother in the past, considering why exactly the mother may be the way she is. Of course there's also just why the wife turned out this way, whether it's her simply going insane or if she has been possessed, it makes the story so much more compelling on the whole.
    9/10

  • @Dice-Z
    @Dice-Z Год назад +906

    What's cool about this story is that it has multiple possibilities
    1) Wife is seriously mentally ill, as evidenced by her switching back and forth between her "personalities" even when talking to rebecca and chris. She was tired from her outbursts. It's unknown whether she is aware or not of what's going on, but her mother seemingly is, and probably had to deal with it during her daughter's childhood
    2) Wife is a monster/possessed or just unapologetically crazy and she actually wants to hunt him down for fun, or somehow snapped because her husband told her for years to lighten up. But even then it's strange how animalistic and unable to communicate the monster was, whereas his wife could talk to others, send messages and such, it's clearly not the wife taking a joke too far.
    3) That's not the wife. She played along at the start thinking he was making shit up, but there's a lot of reasons to believe it's a separate entity entirely. It peeking, then him finding her asleep in bed, her not adressing anything, showing concerns, supposedly moving away (perhaps even to her mother, who thinks he is treating her like shit and is the one who is going crazy, hence actually telling HIM to seek help), even trying to talk multiple times and seeming distraught. She had bloodshot eyes when she talked to Rebecca, just like the entity, but presumably because she cried at the unexplainable behaviour of her husband. He never once actually tried to verify he was actually meeting up with his wife, and that it wasn't someone else, instead of arranging a meet up in day light, somewhere crowded, to the person sending him the texts. Hell, he didn't even TRY to have a text conversation. Man is bloody haunted by a japanese horror style demon, and maybe the eyes were... for peeking at him? The shattered wedding frame is also symbolic, the lack of footprints around his brother's house was suspicious. That thing wants to destroy their marriage, and it did. Every event between him and the actual wife is a misunderstanding, and in her point of view he's the one going crazy for no reason, perhaps thinking she's guilty for setting him off replying to what she thought was banter by playing along, and not him "going crazy". This is imo the most likely one that the author was trying to convey, but seems like a lot of people took his perception of the events as the truth.

      These were the three scenarios I thought of too. This is a really great story, and if I had any critique it would be that the build up needed a bit more fleshing out.
      From the moment of her first peeking to the time "she" terrorizes him in the bathroom, I felt like we could have used a bit more of a glimpse into their communication. Don't get me wrong, less is usually more in these stories, and leaving the wife's nature up to interpretation is the best move. But if we had a little more description of their life and/or communication, I think it would have added to the enjoyment of speculating over her nature.
      As it is, we're left with just barely enough to form theories.

    It’s stories like this with, no supernatural elements … just plain everyday reality, that make these stories so darn creepy. The idea that one day a switch just flipped in the wife’s head and she so readily embraced her crazy and in turn terrorized her husband gave me major goosebumps. I’ll definitely be using a nightlight tonight.

    • @pancakes8670

      I wouldn't say no supernatural elements... there's implications that the Wife could be demonically possessed, what with the mom emphasizing "Professional Help" and the Friend joking about getting an exorcist.
      However, the difference is its not explicitly confirmed that possession is what's happening. It's left up to interpretation what's wrong.

    WOW! This was an amazing story, not many stories make me paranoid but this one did. I had the theory that maybe it was something imitating the wife- because of how she mentioned “you creep me out all the time too” at the beginning. Maybe she was seeing her husband peek at her from around corners too 👀 Then the way she acted confused after he ran out, not understanding why. Perhaps when he had gone back to the house her car wasn’t there because the real her went to go seek support from friends, which left whatever was imitating her in the house - free to do whatever (like put eyeballs in the closet)
    Just thoughts. Hope there is a second part written!

When she would come out of her screaming fits she would manically ramble on how she's fighting the urge to lose control then would go back into a screaming episode. None the less I called the police/ambulance while holding her down to keep her from hurting herself. It was wild, ended up she accidentally took one too many Wellbutrin within 24 hours thinking it would help her mood more. The hospital administered a drug that counteracts the effects of Wellbutrin and she came down after 30 mins to an hour.

      she would start writing down when / where I‘d get off / on the bus and sometimes run or wait for an earlier / later bus to see me as often as possible, (which means she‘d sometimes wait for half an hour up to an hour because the bus line only drives this frequent, just to eventually see me), she was able to describe my friends well enough for me to know exactly who she saw me with, she would frequent spots or places in the city more often when / if she saw me there, especially multiple times, like in the library, lastly she would mirror me, if I was waiting for the train on one side of the tracks, she would basically stand face to face to me, vis-a-vis and when I would walk she’d do the same on the opposite side
      all of the above for two years from the first day she had seen me on said bus, until talking to me at all
      And again that’s just what she admitted by herself. Also she kept admitting to say one detail of the above, then check for my reaction, even being amused at my surprise etc, then reveal something new, so I found out about all details in the period of 1-2 weeks of her telling me bit by bit

The other night in bed I had my boyfriend listen with me because the title sounded fun and we often talk about marriage and do prank eachother. At the end he was terrified and made me promise to never do the wide eye smile, and I had to cuddle him to sleep. Guess we found a fear? That was really, REALLY, good. Very well narrated, the story was explained using lots of descriptors, allowing the listener to, very easily, imagine in their minds-eye, each scene. These usually don't creep me out and I think bc most of these stories(at least the ones I've come across, are generally not realistic or easily possible... there's an air of fantasy... but this one was simple...succinct, and not too fantastical... shit like this could and does happen, I'm sure... where the person, for whatever reason, begins acting out, batshit crazy for no apparent reason. Very creepy. Well done
