    I love to hear things like winter weight and summer weight. But, i also am aware that some aren't comfortable with sharing

      I honestly didn’t weigh the pack until I was already on trail. Based on my calculations using some online weight calculator I estimated the base weight was 24-25. When I weighed in at Around the Bend hostel with 1L of water and 4 days of food I was at 30lbs. I can probably shave 1-3 off that when I swap out winter stuff

    Hope it goes well and flawlessly. Nice to see a normal setup and loadout compared to the UL world these days. Still a fraction of what we carried on the AT in 1997. Lol. Back when I was ultralight but my gear was not. Now the roles have reversed. 😂. Best of luck.

    Looks like a solid kit. It will certainly be cold for you for a while. Likely well after the Smokies. Hold on to your cold weather gear until its been warm for at least 2 weeks, probably late April early May. I highly recommend you pack some hot hands. They are amazing on cold nights especially for a cold sleeper. I have hiked in snow wearing sandals with those Randy Sun socks, they worked great! Happy Trails

    I’ll be curious to hear how those Exospikes are working for you. I have a pair I use when I have to shovel my driveway in the winter. It’s fairly steep so I need some extra traction. I wasn’t sure they were aggressive enough for steeper terrain with added weight on my back.

      I’m hoping I won’t need them but we’ll see. I hit Springer tomorrow and temps are ranging 59 to 29 yesterday and the next couple days. Probably won’t need them until the Smokies. We’ll see

      @@JRooneyPhotos1 there's still March to get through but hopefully you won't get a winter blast in the Smokies.

    i have the same tent and bag and quilt !whats your base weight?

    • @JRooneyPhotos1
      @JRooneyPhotos1  2 месяца назад

      I didn’t weigh it when I checked in at Amicalola. But I weighed it at Above the Clouds shelter with 1L of water and about 4 days of food and it was 30lbs. I have a few things I’ll send back and/or swap out once I get into VA and I think low 20 degree nights are less likely

    Where is your backup stove or some think to cook if your primary fails?

    • @JRooneyPhotos1
      @JRooneyPhotos1  3 месяца назад

      No back up stove. I’m not aware of anyone who carries 2. I generally have a good number of protein bars. In a pinch I’ll be ok for a couple days if needed
