Varun you are looking a great prospect for indian team. Team requires a fast bowler and you are bowling not only fast but at good line as well. All the best . i hope u will be in indian team very shortly. All the best.
All our bowlers like Srinath, Agarkar and Zaheer during the initial period of international career were fast bowlers. But once they were injured they became fast medium bowlers.
More than speed, what impresses me more is his bowling action, perfectly suitable for a pacer which i have not seen for long time in indian fast bowlier after zaheer khan
at 2:07 he bowl absolute beauty !!! that literally swung out !!! at 2;50 batsman was clueless, he thought the ball would out swing but that came back in sharply at 147 case!!! at 3:35 he nearly hurt batsman ribcage at 142 case!!! wonderfull to watch that spell from him. at 7:03 he...he..he.. take that !!! the 1 important area where he needs to improve is bowling the slower ones, he's too short of length in bowling the slower ones instead he shud pitch up !
Some of the comments are harsh but true, I hope this bowler is taken in the team and is a trump card for India in the future, like Malinga. The team attitude needs to change and we need to focus on constant fitness. There is nothing wrong in players making money, but they should remember that they are doings Ads or playing in IPL because they have performed, either in the national team or domestic cricket.
@jiteshkris Mmmhhh was the fastest Indian bowler, but, like Varun Aaron, he was in the mid/high 80s mph, not consistently over 90 mph which makes a bowler express, like Tait, Lee, Akhtar or Sami. During the 2003/2004 season Sami was consistently over 95 mph. And Waqar, Wasim or even less known guys like Mohsin Kamal and Nadeem Iqbal were express. In his prime people said that Waqar was even touching 100 mph, during that time having bowling average of -20 and strike rateof -40 in Tests.
Very impressive with his speed, I hope he would carry on with the same, A proper coaching of international cricket could really make him a good package for Indian Team. Specially he could shock all the batsman with his bouncer, short pitch delivery. one thing i have noticed is, his action - it is too close from the stumps and foot into the danger area. Although a good hope for Indian team. And i hope he would not be Ishant or shreesant, who gave the same hope to us in recent past but failed.
I am not a coach but i did observe a couple of things about him: 1. He definitely needs to use his left hand a bit more. will generate more pace 2. really good to see someone who bowls close from the wicket 3. good wicket to wicket bowling but can definitely improve 4. should try to bowl more yorkers and slower balls i think India should approach allan donald for a bowling coach position and identify 4-5 guys (him, deepak chahar is another one but hes more into swing) 2 work with him
k, he definitely hits the deck, now the question is whether Dhoni the Indian wicket keeper, who keeps at-least 1.5 mtrs away than normal wicket keepers do even for praveen kumar's bowling is fit enough to keep for varun's pace?
@Tomahawk1999 I think India should approach Wasim Akram. He is a very intelligent fast bowler and knows his trade inside out. As far as I have seen, he is very open with his advice and Pakistan doesn't seem to use it even though they can.
it is not easy to bowl fast.needs mind, body structure, mode of delivery, natural instincts and adequate practise.any mode of action within leagal limits are accepted by experts.best wishes and don't be a person among those who could bowl genuine fast and never got a chance to higher levels.illeffects from envied people can expect.india is yet to make a genuine consistand fast bowler. jeff thommo's balls hits site screen on full after pitching-wisden-means above 170km/hr.me above 147km/hr at age46
He has a good bouncer, some swing, and can hurry the batsman. But surely needs to sort out his run up and follow through. Hope he gains some consistency and does not lose his pace, like many 10 match Indian speedsters have.
@jiteshkris however even after his stress fracture he was bowling 85 mph easy. his contemporaries including umpires have said he is the fastest they ever saw. A high proportion of his victims were lbw and clean bowled for which you NEED to bowl at 90+mph. During his fastest spells WKeepers used to stand near the boundary line. The best proof of his pace are ALL his vids on YT old and new, as well as what cricket writers have written about him . . ( hope zaheer's hamstring heals up quick :-D )
@jiteshkris sorry abt the blank. yeah ignore all denigrating comments. india deserve to be no.1, they don't need to prove anything. i agree munaf, zaheer, irfan, ishant were all bowling at 90mph when they started out. now their pace has regressed. Here pace is a top priority. 50% of the population is Punjabi and 20% Pashtun. Endless stock of fast bowlers. ;-) . We too have a flourishing culture of street cricket. . contin. . .
Since he is from Jharkhnand, I dont think Dhoni will be happy including him in squad at any time and even if he is included he will have to wait like Saurabh Tiwary to get a chance to play in the eleven. Anyway, lla the best to Varon. Dont give up. Trust in God. You are the need of the hour for the Hindustan Team
@jiteshkris 5) Wasim Akram- bowling against India in the 2003 WC at 87-88 mph. incredible for a 37 year old diabetic. extrapolation will show that he bowled a 150 kph snorter with regularity in his younger days. Although he preferred the 140 kph mark since it is most conducive for seam and swing.video evidence on YT backs me up. umar gul, wahab riaz, M aamir have all clocked 150+kph but operate at 135-145 for best results through the air.. . tribal areas yet to be explored for fast bowlerzz ;-)
@jiteshkris true sami had blistering pace but that's no good if you cant supplement it with swing and movement off the deck thus the poor stats. lee also said that there are plenty of quick bowlers around the world in domestic outfits but they never cut it, because they lack movement. varun seems to have all of the essentials, although his run up reminds me strongly of mendis ;-D chahar and aaron . . . a very promising combo .
Deepak Chahar has been having a successful so far in the international circuit as far as limited overs is concerned. He’s competing with Bhuvaneshvar Kumar for cementing his spot in limited overs format. As for Aaron, he’s suddenly gone into oblivion since 2014-15. He was a regular in Tests and Limited overs for a brief period of time.
@Nongbet08 ... my dear academies can only groom fast bowlers but they can never produce a fast bowler... wasim akram , waqar younis , shoaib akhter , muhammad aair they all came upon the map of international circuit with their born talent which india clearly lacks !
@vj2109 Didn't you see his stats in the beginning of the video? A wicket for every 22 balls he bowls. That's not bad. And then he picks up another wicket. Of course, he has to keep doing it :)
@jiteshkris And I'm just talking of the 'express' bowlers, peoples who kept it fast... other mention should be Imran Khan, who was really, really fast, but changed his action to rely more on swing, and it proved to be successful.
The lad's immensely strong in the upper body, no doubt. He looks to be an adivasi (tribal) from Jharkhand. A real jerky muscular shoulder motion when he delivers the ball. Not too dissimilar to Lance Klusener or Duncan Spencer (remember?) in their pomp. I have a feeling that he can be moulded into a potent fast bowling weapon.
@samurai150 Abe nade, we have a lot of regional politics in India due to which players do not get a chance. Other wise we have bowlers who bowl that fast at every maidan in Mumbai.
@jiteshkris lets discount zahid. he did not make an impact. it is a disservice however, to waqar and sami to not bracket them as express. like i said watch ALL of waqar's vids and sami's videos too.. .especially waqar,s old videos. do you have the 156kph srinath delivery ?
@jiteshkris And I think that Wahab Riaz and Mohammed Talha will be classified as express soon... these three guys were way faster than Mohammad Amir some years ago, but Amir worked a lot.
I don't know why but most of the fastest bowlers in the world seems to have a sharp ass. Just look at Kemar Roach, Brett Lee, Shoaib Akhtar, and Fidel Edwards (to name a few). I think that having a sharp ass means that you have a more tapered waist, which gives you more flexibility (and hence, leverage) when delivering the ball on the power stride." That is why Afridi will never bowl as fast as Akhtar since he has no ass (he's torso is too thick, so hence, no flexibility and leverage).
i left a comment under a deepak chahar video saying that we use black electric tape to cover the ball and then try to swing it at high pace. the Indians weren't too pleased and asked me to f*** off. About Waqar's speed- no unfortunately there aren't too many videos showcasing his speeds, rather his reverse and conventional swing. Videos from his early career lack speed readings. Waqar slowed down after the stress fracture of his back . . contin . .
i think the thing wrong with indian team is the bowling. if we don't have bowlers who can bowl consistently over 145 kmph amd prefreably over 150 kmph' we cant dominate the world. and i think its not hard to get in india with more thn 120 million population. there should be a show like indian idol i mean have audition in each and every city of the country. and let the private channel televise it so tht the money can be genrated. just think ! SO PLZ COPY AND PASTE IT EVERYWHERE U CAN
Seems batters who are facing him are pretty average giving you the impression that this guy is really talented. Doesn't seem much of a talent. May be those speed guns were wrong.
He has a good action...but only his effort ball seems to cross 140s. But he certainly not a quick bowler by any means. A rated fast bowler usually bowls over 145 without any efforts and effort balls are bowled at 155. If a bowler bowls quick with effort balls and he is injured he would be back to fast medium pace bowler. In that case only the skills like swing, reverse swing, yorkers and cutters save the day. So its too early to call him as a India's fastest bowler.
Most of his balls are in 136-140 kph range. This can hardly be considered fast bowling. At best, it may be called fast-medium. He is also too short for a fast bowler. But anyway he is only 21 yrs old, so lots of muscles to build up and lots of experience to gain. It may help him.

Yes
No Indian Bowler enjoys his bowling....Except Varun.
Instead, Varun looks very comfortable at bowling above 140 kph consistently.
