    My last hobby was collecting baseball cards. Im currently not collecting anymore and sold most of my cards to buy one of this Ultimate XMAXX to start a new hobby. My plan is to buy the car and one extra body. Im keeping the factory body as new as possible (not planning on using it) and then learn the ropes with the extra body. I don’t know if it’s because I considered myself a collector until a few months back that I have this way of thinking but Im definitely not using it. Maybe for pictures or at least until I feel extremely confident that I can manage the car without crashing it.
    I know it’s different and not even close but from a collectors standpoint, most people would love to have a Jordan rookie card or a Mantle rookie card. The majority can’t afford one in excellent condition but everyone who can afford a fairly good condition will buy it even with a crease on it. Keep the original, use the new one.

    Somehow I missed it and I am so glad I just happen to come across this video, BEFORE I opened the box with the Blue Ultimate. I agree, the OEM body without the roof skid plate in pristine condition are going to help keep the value up a few years down the road.
    I just ordered a replacement body; and the first thing I am going to do is check to see the graphics pattern.
    Thanks again for bringing this to my attention, and in my case, just in time.
    **EDIT**
    I just checked a couple of pictures of the Green one. Ebay has a used one which is the OEM without the roof skid plate; and the replacement that comes with the roof skid plate ALSO has a different graphics pattern, just like the blue.
    Same with the XRT's. Different graphics, (although both OEM and replacement appear to have roof skid plate).
    Good catch Earl!

    Interesting but I dont think they will be collectable. I think as one of the flagship vehicles and its already prepped for the protector it should come with it. What they really need to do is fix the whole body design from the back end collapsing and it self ejecting so much instead of throwing on some shiny parts I also would like to see the esc have some programing options like other brands over all its a great rc still one of my favorites but if the body clipped like the xrt and the rear end was reinforced so it wouldnt bend thats what I want to see.

    I hate to say, but I'm right there with ya. I don't have the Ultimate, but with all my RC's I feel like I should 'save' the original body and run it with a spare or basher body - especially if it's some kind of limited edition or special body. Even just yesterday, after prepping a Slash Nitro, I ordered a spare body since it's the Hawaiian edition... I know, not limited, or rare, but I'm gonna have the OG body, unused, in the bag for some reason. In your case, tough call since there's already some road rash, but I'd still try to preserve the original to maintain my own 'sanity' ... love your channel and content, so keep goin!

  • @vles007
    @vles007 8 месяцев назад +2

    Even if I bought the ultimate (which I won't because my original 8S is perfectly built now) I'd still buy the roof slider and put it on. Personally, I really don't think having a body with no roof slider is going to affect resale value or "collector" status honestly. If this were real cars/trucks then yeah sure it'll have "rarity value" but this is a fairly niche hobby...what kinda ultra dork is gonna pay extra for an XMaxx Ultimate which has LESS protection on it? Maybe it's just me and the way my brain works. You very well may be right though! Only time will tell! Love the videos brother, shoutout from Ohio!

  • @Norm2120
    @Norm2120 9 месяцев назад +1

    First thing I did was put a roof slider on my ultimate Xmaxx and took the stickers off of it and I got a ton of upgrades to put on it 🤷🏻‍♂️ honestly I don’t think it matters especially since Traxxas is now taking orders for the ultimate Xmaxx and XRT on their website after they said only available in stores so the whole limited edition deal isn’t really limited edition. Just run it and enjoy it. I just ordered the ultimate XRT body for my standard XRT and that comes with the roof sliders just like the standard XRT where as the standard Xmaxx doesn’t come with a roof slider. I think they put the roof slider on the replacement body cause everyone was complaining about the Ultimate didn’t come with one and as for the paint scheme my blue Xmaxx ultimate has the exact paint scheme as your replacement body so I’m guessing there’s a few different paint schemes

    Hey man, depends on what you want to do. Your car is only original once, but it is a Traxxas accessory, so it will still be orginal, just not factory original. If you are going to run it, to definitely put it on. If not maybe leave it off so that it is factory orginal. Its really kind of hard to say in the long term if that will effect the value or not, the scratch vs adding the roof skid.

    8:39 Mate keep the original body clean in the box and run the spare one with roof protections.
    People today are CRAZY stupid with original limited products and speculate AF with, so to me, this is the way to keep the best value of your Ultimate.
    People will always find a reason to justify the rarity of the original body, they just care about that : RARITY.
    Like that they can be “UNIQUE” on their fake life they love to share on stupid social networks…
    I hate this era. Anyway

    Nobody cares about the bodies with out the roof slider Broski. Now that limited edition arrma bodies those are special and will be worth a lot just like the traxxas snap on bodies especially the box truck xmax bodies are worth a mint brand new. I have 6 myself new in the bag and 4 traxxas revo 3.3 platinum edition. Sealed in the box. 2500.00 is what they go for. That's the stuff that's collectable. Not bodies with no sliders earl.....

    • @earlmoorhead5555
      @earlmoorhead5555  9 месяцев назад +1

      The original xmaxx ultimate where shipped no roof slider do to the box size and the replacement body have them so unless you get a take off body you can’t buy one new from traxxas without the roof protection

      @@earlmoorhead5555 minor thing to me I see now why it flew over my head.
      And I still may be perceiving this wrong.
      Your saying you can’t buy an intimate body with the No skid version it’s not available. 😁
      I still may be lost but that’s okay. No worries
