The group abduction scene is one of the most claustrophobic moments of cinema I've seen in a while. The terror of being pulled up and then slowly and painfully suffocated, melted, and digested while listening to the screams of those above and below you.
So far it's one of the better movies I've seen this year. It doesn't have constant jump scares to make it scary, the movie uses tension and suspense to be creepy. But it also has good character moments and humor to make it entertaining.

Then hearing their screams when it rains blood over the Haywood house...congrats, Jordan Peele. You made aliens scary again.
One of the best films of the year in my opinion it’s just so unexpected and original. The themes, the ideas, the messages are something that u can’t take ur eyes off it’s legit a spectacle in its very essence. A spectacle.
Jordan Peele became one of my favorite writer/directors of all time so fast because he is always doing something new and original, and not only that but he’s doing it so well. This isn’t just a movie about an alien attacking humans, it’s so much more, with the side plot of Gordy and the realization of what the UFO actually is and the symbolism of training the alien to try to get a good shot of it on film like they would with the horses they train for movies. Jordan doesn’t do the bare minimum when it comes to making movies, and he’s making such unique and creative movies in a time where there’s soooo many adaptations and remakes, and I appreciate his movies so much because of that

I’ve seen it four times so far, all in IMAX! What a movie! I got to see it in an IMAX dome theater twice and it was the best way to see it!
Nope was a loving tribute/homage to classic Spielberg, in particular Close Encounters Of The Third Kind and especially Jaws. So many brilliant Spielbergesque qualities to this movie, from the characters and music to the cinematography and old Hollywood 1950’s style visual effects with the UFO. But it also reminded me of classic Alfred Hitchcock. The way that Jordan Pelle builds tension and suspense in this film( as well as all his films)and the suspense and buildup is better than the payoff, just like Hitchcock used to do. Even touches in the film reminded me of classic Rod Serling era Twilight Zone in the vastness and scale and scope of the environment and focus on a small number of characters in a mysterious unusual situation throughout

One of the bits in the Gordy plotline involved a pedophile obsessed with Mary Jo Elliot, the actress who played Haley Houston, to the point where he had a shrine of her and stuff.
