Is it safe to use muscle stimulation after tibial plateau fracture where metal plating was used to support the fracture? I'm worried about burns. I have found some research that found minimal evidence for burns. I have managed to get some quad activation since partial weight bearing, but I have alot of muscle atrophy since the serious breaks and I gave up on using tens as a safe option weeks ago.
I have lost size of my quads and I have DJ D in both knees and when the pain becomes tremendous I will replace can I use your EMS program to maintain what muscle mass I have now to make TKR rehab easier?
really helpful video, I am 5 weeks after surgery and using EMS i would love to use your method but you didnt note down the settings, would it be possible to add them please?
Listened back and got the following: Mode - Synchronous Ramp - 2s On - 12s Off - 50s (3 sec manual quad holds repeated) Rate - 75hz Width - 400 (mine only goes to 300) Time - 15mins
Just search "evidence to support use of NMES (muscle stim) to prevent autogenic muscle inhibition". What you will find is there is a growing body of evidence to support its use as an adjunctive treatment but none of the articles are convincing and so its use is somewhat controversial. WIth that said, a lot of recognized experts in ACL rehab recommend using it for AMI (Kevin Wilk, Lynn Synder-Makler)
Probably something he's "heard" that it doesnt support muscle building. Except its not for muscle buildig but stimulation and regaining neurological stimulation.
your videos are so good please keep them coming
I just had a meniscus TRANSPLANT.
I bough a Twin Stim unit, and i am going to use it on my quads
Thank you so much for this incredible resource. Can you link the NMES unit that you encourage your clients to get for home? Much appreciated!

Is there any harm in doing this multiple times in a day or just one or two? Very keen to really get strength up before I see my consultant next week!
@@trainsatspeedbyelis9152 perfect. and then crank that intensity up as much as you can tolerate
@@ACLacademyhow would I transfer these settings into an analog one I’m cheap and don’t wanna buy a new one lol
My physio therapist is ADAMANT that there's no data to support this. I've pushed him on this fact. Do you have studies that i can show him or look up?

Hi, thanks for the video. Would it be too late to use NMES 6 months post op?
How soon after acl surgery would you reccomend using the EMS machine? I had my surgery yesterday
