The neighbor tree situation. I'd talk to the guys who actually did the harm. If they failed to fix it. I'd then ask the neighbor to lean on them. If that failed, I'd take care of the situation myself (move the offending material back over on the neighbor). The problem was not the neighbor's fault. Who knows, he might even help. Then, I would do a full court press and I would let everyone I know what the timber people did. I would make it my case in life to make sure they did no more work in or near your area. They are not good business people or good stewards of the land. They need to be held accountable. I would also keep track of the time and material I spent fixing their problem and I'd invoice them for it. Great video Josh! Lee
Josh as a fellow veteran, fellow nurse, and fellow (new) RUclipsr - I’ve learned a lot watching your channel and the contact that you provide. Josh, I’m also a fellow veteran and I was a EMT with fire department for 20 years, I too bought a farm after I retired from the fire department here in eastern Oklahoma. I did take your advice and bought a T754 TYM. But my TYM would not stay cool in the cab so I had to get rid of it and I bought me a John Deere.
Hmm.....the 754 has just about the same size cab as my 574 I think....you couldn't just have the AC system warrantied v/s buying a deere? If the neighbor gets mad because you're holding the tree company accountable for their actions, then your neighbor needs to rethink their morals. Nothing wrong with getting them to fix their mess, and it might gelp them weed out a weak link in their crew too.

lol...there's a playlist for "turf, lawn and pasture" on the channel that has well over 200 vids my friend...more to come for sure...search for "the science of grass" video that I have...you'll love it!
First, I don't understand why loggers were on your land(you didn't say) 2nd, talk to neighbor and ask them to contact the logging Co. and have them come out and fix their mess. If neighbor has an issue, well he's not a neighbor, just someone who lives close. If he has an issue with it, you have a grapple. Strong high fences make the best neighbors!
19:36 you mention the grass and soil not good for cows. Could you film more videos on the transitioning and process on getting the land ready for cows. Thanks
yeppers......first check out the playlist "turn lawn and pasture" on the channel...I have well over 200 videos about soil and growing grass and basically everything you are asking for...from when I messed up....to when I figured out the best way to go about all this. Also...look up my video "the science of grass" you'll love it. I've got over 1600 vids out there...but I think I should do a video on how to build pastures...showing the bad soil I have now...and the good soils that I have built over the last 6 years...WITHOUT FERTILIZER!!!
Tammy is a donkey, if you have one donkey with your cattle they protect and stick with the cows, if you have 2 donkeys or more they for their own herd and ignore the cows they are supposed to watch after. Remember....donkey's aren't people my friend....put another donkey in there and they'll be fighting with oneanother in most cases...donkeys can be very mean critters....they bite, kick and tear stuff up
Build your soil up in that bottom land and it will be less wet, able to absorb and hold more water. Looks like a forestry mulcher would be a good rental to cut back the brush tighter to the fence rows. Are you going to seed the fields for better grazing? Unrolled bale Greg Judy trick, actual grain drill, or broadcast seed?
josh, you might want to look into planting 1 tree of a different species ( other than pine), cos a lot of pine tree hedges are dieing in australia from a pine tree disease, and a 6 month drought , then a rainy summer really killed a lot. maybe plant oaks or wallnut or pecan or even eucalyptus ( but they are a weed in california. )
Josh I’m sure you’ve done a video on this but what else do you do to bring a pasture back to life for your cows? We have property and the pastures need help. Aside from mowing, do you plant cover crops? What is the process? We are still working full time but feel this is important for our land. We need some guidance. Thank you.

I'm pretty sure I'd be using that field right now even if just for one day and then back to your other pastures. Manure will eventually raise ph (probably take a LONG time) but I'd definitely have them on this winter when you're rolling out hay.
Hey Josh, farm looks awesome. I’ve not seen Miss stony Ridge hanging around. too bad you guys could not work things out if that is the case. Oh well, everything is for a reason.☝🏼👍🏼
Contact your neighbor and ask him to have the timber crew to come back and clear the debris from the trees they felled. The neighbor is likely unaware. The timber crew will likely try and get away with what they can. Clean up in the heat is hard work, and I'm sure they were feeling it all the way around. Communication is key. If you get attitude and push back after nicely informing them of your issues, I'd then try a different approach.
At this point Josh, the deed is done and the trees are already down on your land....time to make lemonade....or in this case charcoal and ash both good for your animals and land. it's either that or poke the bear and see what happens. It would certainly be a good idea to let the neighbor know what happened but what other options do you have?
On that land that you said would take three years to make into Goodpasture, could you make it quicker if you disked it, then tiller and planted new grasses/hay? I’m just wondering because I’m looking to buy a small farm bud. I would like to be able to convert it quicker into good pasture, land where there is none or little. Thanks for what you do. I enjoy your show.
How often do you mow your grass generally? Once a week is typical- lots of rain twice a week, no rain once a month… so 2 weeks generally that grass is ready

Can you find something to pick it up with(grabber bucket or claw)and add it to your windrow to decompose and push in your low spots later? That would be my suggestion. Sometimes it's just easier to remove it yourself then upset a neighbor. Maybe show them what the company they contracted did. Explain to them any future incidents will be their responsibility to clean if it happens again.
Not sure how a right hand turn would make a difference over a left hand turn if the pto is center of the tractor and the batwing gearbox is center of the implement.
Dang josh. Sorry to hear about your significant other loss. I did see that stargazer cast iron on the stove. Im a stargazer owner as well. Sounds like you need some night vision and a good smoke pole to take care of them fox.
Knock on the neighbors door and ask for a bit if his time to explain the situation. He may not even be aware of the trespass. You will likely find that he will be embarrassed that it occurred and will clean it up quickly. Good conversations makes good neighbor relations.
Hi Josh, do you spread lime on your fields to raise the ph? Our ph through soil test is 5.7 and they recommend 2 to 3 tons per acre. We have sheep rotating so not adding fertilizer!
Josh can you install field tile to help drain that off. Just wondering I’ve seen wet fields with old clay tile. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks from Sc
Have you ever thought about tinting the window's in that TYM just wondering I know it would be even cooler with that ac going in the summer time your friend from Cullman Alabama Josh Early
If it were me, I would just push that top back onto the neighbors ground. If the loggers are still working along the property line I would pay them a visit and suggest they keep the debris on their side of the line. No cense in creating a mountain from a mole hill. I`m sure trees fall across that line due to natural causes on occasion, maybe even the other way if you have any woods.
Just moved to east tn and my goal is to one day get my own farm going and transition into it becoming my full time job but right now feels so far off :(
I have a question about the land you were mowing. After it rejuvenates, will you be tilling it up and reseeding, or will you just add new good grass seed on top?
NO MORE TILL!!!!! Tillage opens the land up to more weeds.....we'll get the soil right, use the litter that's been mowed down on the field for the last few years as bedding and no till drill....or overseed and bring the cattle in to mash the seed into the ground. Ya need to watch a few of my winter vids to understand. We don't seed much anymore, we roll out hay and hay is full of grass seed. Tillage destroys soil structure and is not the way to establish a pasture unless you want weeds...no till drilling or broadcast overseeding and allowing the cattle to trample the seed into the soil is best practice
Thanks for taking us with you. Great job.

Also with the low lying area there, do i hear the possibility of another pond in your future? :)
there is a very large creek right next to the bog...so it's gonna be pasture eventually, a pond will be between these two pastures
Just moved to east tn and my goal is to one day get my own farm going and transition into it becoming my full time job but right now feels so far off :(
Nice video. I haven’t watched in awhile, what happened to the mrs? The last I watched she was back
I have a question about the land you were mowing.
I noticed you got your chicken count up. Did you buy more chicken and kill the foxes?
this vid filmed 2 days before the fox attack
Josh,
Sounding a bit like Karl Childers from slingblade goin to get my slingblade out dare & whack me some grass ah huh.

Your neighbor may not be aware of the problem and for best rapport I would handle this that way when talking to him/or her .
