While I liked KOTOR 1, KOTOR 2 is just simply one of if not my favorite work of fiction. It's everything you would want in a sequel, yet it doesn't feel like one. You are not playing as Revan, you are playing as someone else entirely with whom the only connection shared is being part of the same order in a period of time. Yet it enhances the story of the first game in unorthodox ways and has riveting dialogue and takes on power, corruption, and allegiance. It also subtly touches on the butterfly effect. I mean I know I'm getting long winded but I CANNOT stress how much I love KOTOR II. It was the only thing on my mind while I was playing through it, and the weeks after. Fantastic work of art. . . And to think it was still so good even unfinished
Meetra and Revan's stories were pretty tragic in a way. They could've stopped Vitiate in any other way, had Scourge not double-crossed them despite him having a vision. Thankfully, we got to see Revan and Meetra Surik involved in the final defeat of the Sith Emperor. This not only felt like a love letter, but also an apology to fans about their fates.
*"In time's past and in time's future, there are Jedi who will stop listening to the Force, those who will try to forget it, but maintain unconscious ties. And those, as in the past just as a I, who have had the Force stripped from them. But no Jedi ever made the choice you did. To sever ties so completely, so utterly, that it leaves a Wound in the Force "* - Kreia For me, the Jedi Exile and KOTOR 2 will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you to the writers who wrote such an amazing story.
Great character. A shame that she was underused compared to Revan (looking at you Revan Novel), but the story of KotOR 2 remains one of the best nevertheless.
It's just Bioware not wanting to acknowledge a character created by another studio. Revan has become a major character in the old republic lore, and they reduced Meetra to a footnote.
Meetra and Atton's relationship is one of the most underrated and tragic in all Star Wars (specially considering the lost ending in which he declares his love for the Exile just before dying)
Kreia didn't kill the Jedi Masters with Force lightning, she stripped their connection to the Force. The shock is what killed them. I mean, if you kill them in the game, she literally says "I didn't want the Jedi dead. Defeated, perhaps."
In my defense, out of all the gameplay footage I watched for research, I don't recall it being explained what she was actually doing, it looked like she was zapping them to me. Oh well, a mistake on my part.
@@Manda-LORE Limitations of the graphics, I guess. Overall, though good video! KOTOR II is one of my favorite star wars stories and my favorite video game, and I think you did a good job. The way the Exile was handled in SWTOR always bothered me, though. Love the MMO's story, but I'm frustrated that it largely disregards KOTOR II.
KOTOR 2's story is basically what the last jedi could've adopted had it was written well and not insulting the Original trilogy or the whole saga for the sake of nostalgia.
Yep...picking up companions like Finn and Poe, training them to become the next generation of Jedi. I think there were hints of this in TFA- Finn using the lightsaber, and maybe Poe being such a good pilot was because he was Force sensitive. Too bad it was all squandered in TLJ.
Yep boomers ruined it by bitching to Disney about the last Jedi being "not sTAR Wars" and "Feminist" and other stupid shit. Seriouslu the last Jedi had a potentially awesome storyline setting up and the Rise of Skywalker fucked it up because boomer fans were being trash old heads as usual
Nihilus: *Feeds himself by devouring the life force of all planets* Also Nihilus: *Gets quickly defeated by a Jedi who was rediscovering her powers* Visas: "How the hell could you beat him so easily, master?!" Meetra: "We are in a video-game, Visas. Do not try to find any logic here" Visas: "B-But ..." Meetra: "Could you please pick up his mask? Atton will love seeing me wearing it the next time we bang in the hyperdrive room"
Due to meetra being a wound in the force nihilus couldn’t absorb her life energy so meetra basically absorbed his force energy instead like reverse uno card
This was a great video! Kotor 2 and Meetra Surik are some of my favorite Star Wars content. I always found the story to be very sad what with Meetra’s struggle and everything she faced. I wish Disney would just open their eyes to the Old Republic and make a movie out of it Without dramatic changes to a totally sufficient story!
The only thing I feel that needs to be corrected here is that Kavar didn't actually fight in the Mandalorian Wars. He was close to, but decided to heed to Council's wishes in the end. Otherwise, another good video Tadd.
Good job Mandalore Tad Larkins I have three requests for you I want you to do and origins of Darth Sidious Emperor Palpatine I also want you to do one with Count Dooku and a real story of Master cypher Diaz
Another great vid tad. Even if I know most of the lore it's still nice to be able to find a detailed yet brief version of the lore. Also I'd like to get your thoughts on something. I know your not a "what if/theory" channel, but watching your playthrough of the rise of the mandalorians on empire at war I have to ask. What if Fenn shysa decided after feeding the mandalore sector from Miltan Takle began taking other imperial world's and conscripting willing people into the culture? Much like what they did in the mandalorian wars.
I really wish SWTOR didn’t ruin the story of Revan and Meetra. Setting the game 300 years later and making it an MMO really screwed up the story Obsidian set up for a potential KOTOR 3. I wanted to see the Sith Empire be handled like a mix of the Dark Empire and the forces of Sauron from Lord of the Rings. It would have been far more unique that way. Instead the true Sith Empire that was hyped up was derivative of the Empire seen in the original trilogy with an army of Sith Lords added in. I wanted to see unique Sithspawn beasts and warriors with a greater focus on a more dark fantasy style. I was actually inspired to write a KOTOR 3 dnd campaign for my friends using everything I know about Tales of the Jedi, KOTOR 1 and 2, the comics, supplementary material referencing that time period like the 2003 Clone Wars game, and notes and concept art for the cancelled KOTOR 3 and Mandorla book. I even sprinkled in stuff I liked from the Supernatural Encounters book.
I don't suppose you could do a video on the Miraluka people? They've always been my favorite species. Albeit i'll admit that I don't know if they were in legends at all. Information regarding their culture, famous people (other than Visas), and such is extremely hard for me to find. What you think?
My nickname is thawk and i named my charackter hawk and not knowing I though the game named the ship ebon hawk because i named him hawk but the actual name was ebon hawk my mind is blown 🤯🤯
I guess you prefer male Revan? I am surprised you included SWTOR in this since some don’t like what they did with the characters. Some would say it is as damaging as TCW was to CWMMP.
Personally, I don't really have a preference either way, I've played both. The essential guides and other source books have the male revan as the canonical one as well as the female exile for KOTORII but I know a lot of fans prefer it the other way around. As for SWTOR, I dont know about the newer expansions in the past 2-3 years or so but the early SWTOR retcons, at least, don't seem to be nearly as damaging as half the TCW retcons. Moving the discovery of the hydian way up a thousand years doesnt hurt much and having Lord Hoth be named after the planet verses the other way around like it was originally, was explained well enough in the Essential Guide To Warfare. Like i said, if theres more recent retcons, I'm not really aware of them. I have heard though that the recent expansions have taken alot of "liberties" with the lore.
She single handedly beat three Sith lords and they turned him into a Revan fangirl in SWTOR. On top of that her crimes on Malachor is no longer canon. Shame.
Re-looking through the KOTOR campaign guide from WOTC, it seems worded weirdly in the blurb about Meetra's backstory which most likely lead to my confusion. Rest assured that if/when I do a video on Kavar specifically, I'll be sure to rectify the issue...

Yeah it's Tragic that Drew K was allowed to shit all over Kotor 2 by completely ignoring Surik's experience with Nihilus.
Agreed, Revan and Meetra seemed the best suited to defeat Vitiate. Since she had a similar power to Nihilus.

Due to meetra being a wound in the force nihilus couldn’t absorb her life energy so meetra basically absorbed his force energy instead like reverse uno card
The Exile's force wound drained Nihilus of his power.
Revan being kept in centuries-long torturous stasis is the best metaphor for SWTOR’s treatment of the character, tbh.
