Man... i hated history classes in highschool and theyre like my most watched youtube genre now. I love learning about history now and its all thanks to the wonderful people like you here on youtube. Thanks for making this man, keep it up!
Agreed. So many history books try to paint the invaders as the sole wrongdoers but wrongdoings happen on both sides. Not to say the Native Americans as a whole weren't victims of western expansion, but there's always more to the story.
Was just recommended your channel by the algorithm. This is fantastic content! Thank you for providing these stories with a captivating narrative. History is fascinating, and I can take something valuable away from how you present it. Keep up the good work.
Being from the netherlands. I heard these stories in childrens books. But now seeing this, it makes me realise the geaography, social fabric and population sizes really make these peoples different from any history story i know. Love your videos, i have been watching this stuff all night
My great, great grandfather was one of the captives of Geronimo and I have a picture of him with red sleeves. He was taken at 9 Yeats old and raised by the Apache.
New Mexican here. Psyched about this channel's content. You're a great storyteller and awesome use of the background photos. Paul Andrew Hutton's Apache Wars is one of my fav books. Can't recommend it enough. Would love to hear about Victorio, Mangas Coloradas, etc.
GREAT VIDEOS! I took a chance on something the algorithm suggested for me and ended up watching three videos and becoming an instant fan. Great story telling, great research, great visuals -- thank you!
These Apache stories are really good, especially the capture stories and the battles between them and the US army. Keep making videos about them and I’m sure your channel will grow

Well done, thanks. My family owns property in the Chiricahuass, and this is by far the best/ most accurate and detailed accounts of the native south west I’ve seen on RUclips. Would love to see a video about Galeyville, tombstone, hilltop and some of the other mining towns of that area are rich in stories and history.

Hello from the other side of the world, from the Balkans. Turs had something that was called "taxation in blood", which meant that they would collect Christian boys and turn them into elite fighters, but also to educate them and allow them the possibility to thrive. Some of them became Grand Vezirs, which is No.2 in man in the entire empire?!
Hey, I just want to say that your videos are absolutely great. You're clear and concise, explaining all of this well, without becoming too focussed/complicated for it to be understood. You've definitely got my subscription and you deserve far more. I've really been enjoying your work and it has sparked an interest in me for this time period
Been watching all your videos the past day or two . Love them keep making them please. Got recommended the Spanish in the Amazon jungle one first which was crazy interesting
Nice work, thanks. You tied in some famous names, like Chato and Tom Horn, with a lot of facts i didn't know, and you presented it well. I'll check out more.
Having Tribal affiliation in one of the Yuma Tribes - I thoroughly enjoy learning about the early chronological historical activities between the Indigenous, Spanish, and European Peoples. This has become one of my favorite channels.
My first encounter with this channel is grand. The story is readily absorbed. Acceptable facts and alternatives. Very deeply examined by the composer. As interesting as one can anticipate with images and photographs from the component characters and events. I'm sure none would disagree with this.
Another great video delivery. The right length of time too. You take hold of the viewers attention & enable the viewer to maintain their interest. Your videos have come along at the right time for me. I was getting more & more disinterested with YT videos, so thank you. I have subscribed & I hope you continue with these presentations.
Recommend “The True History of the Conquest of New Spain” by Bernal Díaz del Castillo… a soldier under Cortez.. 1st person account of the Spanish landing in Mexico in 1520 and their amazement at the city, the exploitation of the natives for gold and other treasures, the expulsion and flight of the Spaniards, their regrouping and eventual capture of the Aztec capital.
Bernal Diaz is the best source on the conquest. A history teacher from when I was in 8th grade read a lot to us. It’s one of the things that made me love history.
@@datesanddeadguys been binge watching your channel and thank you for the content! Would be cool if one day you covered his story in your style.. “La Noche Triste” crazy!
I'm so intrigued by the old ways of the Native Americans and have been since I was a child, checking out books on them from the library. These vids are so awesome!
I live in Alpine, Texas. I recently found an eagle button off a civil war era soldier uniform, in Langtry, Texas. Home of Judge Roy Bean. I was hoping you could do a video on the history of the area from Langtry Texas to Presidio Texas and up to Fort Davis Texas. There were a lot of Apache raids around Fort Davis as well as raids around Fort Leaton, in Presidio. I figured the button was from one of the many army escorts from San Antonio, down along the Rio Grande, through Presidio and then up to Santa Fe, NM. Thanks! Scott.
Good work sir,, I hear I have an an Comanche ancestor that spoke French and worked in a Spanish mission in Tennessee or Oklahoma a couple centuries ago
Just found your channel and you do a great job. Very informative. One question I’ve always wondered about the Apache and Comanche people. What role did they have if any during the Civil War? I don’t recall reading anything about them during that period in our country’s history. Keep up the great work.
Thank you, your research and hard work greatly shows in all of these videos. It does not go unnoticed! Thank you for these informative peeks into our country's past!
Absolutely. Andrew Jackson is one of my favorite historical figures. He is a complex dichotomy of a man and the Native American conflicts of the time I think get largely ignored. Everyone knows of the trail of tears but no one can speak to the decades of fighting prior.
@@datesanddeadguys Exactly. There are some really interesting characters in that fighting and some really important stuff. My father grew up almost next door to the legendary Holy Ground where William Weatherford, the Creek chief, flung his horse and himself into the Alabama River.
The Trail of Tears is one of the saddest chapters in the nation’s genocide of indigenous people. Andrew Jackson was as cruel as Christopher Columbus, IMO.
I should say that if you change the pace of the frame switching, just a little, your presentations will be nearly inscrutable. This is truly a standout channel.

For sure that is a fair critique. I frankly am not sure how to remedy it. I learn mostly through reading. Something I am unapologetic for. I see the words phonetically.
