Very pleased to receive this book as a Xmas present from my daughter and looking forward to reading it. DS are my favourite band and John was a pivotal member of it so it will be great to have an insight into their history!

Decent book by John Illsley seems like the sort of bloke you would like to have a pint with. Great memories from a great band, they must have had some staying power to get through those long tours.🎸👋

I beg to differ with most of you. When Catherine Marshall was writing the story of her husband Peter Marshall's life she wanted to leave the legacy of a wonderful man. When she presented her first manuscript of the book to her publisher, after he'd read it he called her into his office and said, "You haven't even BEGUN to get inside the man Peter Marshall!"
I'm afraid if l were the publisher of this book, l would have said something similar...

I agree, a lot was glossed over but that was always going to happen I think.

quite a few mistakes, but that is to be expected, we are DS freaks, he just went from show to show and did not look back too much. it remains an enjoyable read

@@ThePottel ha Pottel from MKNews forum, right? 16years ago at least... :-) Yes there are more mistakes, just finished the book. Interesting story about why Hal Lindes was made to leave, that was new for me and I think never mentioned before anywhere. (or?)
