Spring has definitely sprung here in Georgia 8a. It was 75 degrees today and spectacular! We have received a ton of rain this week, and the yard is loving it.
No longer had cat problem in newly prepared and planted raised beds. It was skunks that were digging for worms. Looked like beds had been rototilled, with plants thrown willy nilly. Solution was to cover with tulle in same manner you used with deer fencing. Plus, it keeps white moths from laying eggs on newly sprouted plants. Though I'm in California, we have some similar issues.😊
You are inspiring. I’m going to use your idea of deer netting to keep small critters out of my lettuce. Planting zones can be so confusing. You are in zone 8 getting snow and I am in Prescott Arizona zone 7 not getting snow. Our night time temperatures are hovering around freezing and day temperatures 58 to 62 degrees. Your last frost date is the first of April which makes sense to your zone. Mine is mid May. I have potatoes, lettuce, chives and garlic all ready sprouting and growing. I think I’m going to try carrots and radishes to just see what happens.
That must have been quite a shock to see your greenhouse collapsed under the snow! Glad to hear your plants are doing well. Hopefully there won't be any delays for building your new greenhouse in the weeks ahead. One root veg that will attract critters instead of repel them is Beets. Rabbits love the leafy tops. Is your lettuce variety cut and come again? I've thought about growing salad fixings in a raised bed but wondered what pests they would attract. Looking forward to your perennial clean-up video. Here in MN, we've a wildly mild winter with a January Thaw and temps close to 70F a couple of times in February. Crazy! Lots of gardeners are concerned about perennials, shrubs, and trees waking up too soon and a killing cold snap.
Love your channel! I don't use raised beds or grow vegetables but I was wondering your thoughts on refreshing containers with compost vs refreshing containers with a slow release organic fertilizer - what would be the difference? Thanks so much.
I like your videos, very informative. I am also in same zone & PNW. Is it ok to prune roses now in March or should I wait till last frost date in April?
WOW what a great idea about the netting will remember this.Hey from NC

I saw a robin 2 days ago. That's my sign that spring is on its way.

Very sorry to hear about the green house. Hoping things go smoother from now on:)

It's going to get cold tonight too !
I lay chicken wire over my beds when I had a cat. I like baby Fingers carrots which are so crunchy and sweet.
Looks beautiful! Where did you get your raised vegetable beds?
Yes, I like them, too. Please share info about them.
March came in like a lion for you. It should leave like a lamb.😮

You can use both. Both are very beneficial.

Prune your roses now. 😄
Thank you for your reply. 😊
What did you do with the greenhouse contents?
We saved the plants and put them in a protective secondary house. 😄
