chanel owns the tweed manufacturer it used for their clothes. So they pay themselves, hence i think that's why the price is so high. It's pseudo money.

Thank you for this video. As an outpriced long term Chanel „fan“ I find it super interesting to see where the company is going, starting with the never ending price increases to their decline in quality. I recently also watched a video about the decline in their make up quality. So it seems this is across the board. Personally I predict that Chanel will die a slow death right before our eyes and that the management is already covering the beginning of it up.
I know, I wonder about that too, who’s really in control… 🧐 thank you for watching!! I really am sad about the declining quality of such a heritage brand, but they get what they deserve for the blatant price gouging, imo.
I thought it was a very polish interview. I wish luxury brands will be honest about the quality.
So glad you covered this. I wasn’t aware of the interview. I am curious if she’s a scapegoat or a player. Most CEO’s and c-suite get incentives for increased profits. More stock in publicly owned companies and bonuses for non-publicly owned. Up to the millions for making more money for the company. She likely has a vested interest in the profits. I would think they have warehouses of materials and parts so they aren’t having rising costs to make the products. They certainly aren’t paying their people more. It’s disappointing for those of us relatively new to luxury houses who wanted Chanel bags and won’t ever be able to afford them.
Oh 1000%! I’m realizing I wasn’t clear about this, but she is most DEFINITELY playing along and in it for her own profits. Her shares are rising along with the rest of the c-suite. But they needed someone who would be okay with the arrangement, and she strikes me as one who will be a good soldier-play along, tow the party line, don’t rock the boat. Make the corporate greed palatable because it’s coming from a more progressive-seeming face and figurehead. So, she’s a willing scapegoat. Very frustrating all around for people who want that brand to be better.

I used to work in fashion at high level then left everything for the hypocrisy I witnessed and the disgust for unethical practices.
