I was able to average in last year at 1,155.36 and MKL now represents my second largest position behind BN. Amazingly Berkshire Hathaway has beaten the market over every rolling year period, though the company has three times lost it's value. However, Michelle is not correct in thinking Berkshire Hathaway has continued to make 20 percent returns. This average is an overall average (In the early years the average was higher) and even Warren Buffett says nothing like this is possible going forward over the next twenty years because of Berkshire's size.
Yes you share many valid points! It is true that it's not likely that Berkshire will continue to put up 20% returns, but some sites have reported things like "Berkshire Hathaway saw a 20.1% compounded annual gain from 1965 to 2021."
