Dope perspective Amanda. One thing that resonates with me is when you said respect at its core is to treat someone as human. That for me is why I prefer respect over love. So often black people are disregarded in life and for myself as a man love is a currency that I can’t really do much with. I’m fully aware of gravity of my statement. It is what is. Now for me I do not desire to be above anyone as a hierarchy but respect respect feels like love or a close second. It assures (an ideal comfort not always guaranteed) me that I’m safe moving in this world.

    Speak with out being offensive
    Listen without being defensive
Always leave your opponent with dignity

      Absolutely 100% true
Though, I must add that if my attempt to speak without offense causes someone to become defensive, which turns into them being offensive and treating me without dignity, I will leave with zero dignity.

Phew!!!! 🔥 It’s humble to call this podcast small doses, because this was a LARGE dose. I loved every second ❤ it really has me analyzing myself and the people around me.

Those who question things end up answering things too. Amanda, the real world does not want us to get to this point because then they would have to revere us, even if reluctantly. BUT, at the very least, they would respect (fear) us because of the knowledge. No matter what "they" do or don't do, keep doing what you're doing lady while encouraging others ❤

Wow! This particular episode got me a bit emotional and was very timely for me. It has helped me in having to make what I thought would be some very difficult decisions. Thank you for sharing, I know at the beginning you mentioned being emotionally drained and dealing with some personal things, but thank you for still taking the time to make another impactful episode. I hope you're in a much better space now emotionally 🙏🏾. As for the end of the episode, if you did decide to do a part 2 I would be here for it! Thank you, again!

Just love ‘Small Doses’ Amanda. Thank you very much for posting these podcasts on RUclips. I love to watch the video - I enjoy podcasts best in visual form. I love your topics and your guests and your thoughts. *Re: tossing ‘respect’ around as society tends to do with words goes hand a
In hand with ‘boundaries’. Both used in similar settings and are ubiquitous - need some more detailed analysis and usage in everyday life. So we all can interact with each other in the healthiest way possible. Thank you for everything that you do. I know what a hard worker you are - how many irons you have in the fire at any given time. I - NOT TO BE FLIPPANT - respect you so very much. Thank you. ☮️

Hi Amanda! Long time podcast fan and listened to this episode the other day and wanted to listen to it again because 12/10 stars! 1) Loved how you sang the welcome to another episode... 2) Sending you a big hug for the human feels. It's been hella gloomy here in LA and I felt my mood plummet. 3) All of the topics were spot on. Especially appreciated the points on authority figures demanding respect w/o demonstrating it themselves, and the respect of animal life. Loved that you stood against animal torture. Would listen to part 2 if it's on the agenda. Thank you for showing up consistently for us - you challenge, educate, and elevate my thinking. Also give me the giggles. love ya!

I admire people’s accomplishments/skill set and the way they focus. I definitely feel that a basic level of respect is implied and logical. But if I’m treated with less regard, the respect is out the window. Even though I can admire someone’s accomplishments, I can still lose respect for them. I think it’s messed up that race and complexion always plays a role in who is more worthy of respect than another. I was also thinking about the attire choice during the interaction with Kaitlen Jenner, and how darker skinned ppl bleach their skin for the same reason. They don’t want to be viewed automatically as a threat so they bleach it, to not only meet a beauty standard, but also to be given more of a certain level of respect. Sad frfr.

Well, I’m not sure how the skin bleaching thing is any different from other types of cosmetic surgeries. Not to mention sex changes etc.

What do you think about Acknowledgement, as the basis for respect, reverence, deference, etc.? ...I would LOOVE to hear you break down 'Acknowledgement,' as you've done so well and beastily with these terms, yo! ...But for me, Acknowledgement, is supreme; as it is meant to come and go--like Attention. However, these other terms like respect and reverence, have this stereotype that because they should be 'earned,' they are the all-in-all beez kneez top tier feeling that one person can show another--even though it doesn't carry that same elasticity to be able to be lost and re-gained. Acknowledgement, to me, seems safer to seek in people, as it doesn't come with such unspoken, pre-arranged criteria of agreement...or pedestal-high-horsed-ness, in a sense. Acknowledgement also doesn't need to be 'earned' in those same regards. But idk, what's your take on 'Acknowledgement,' as a less-messy, super basic level of human interaction and connection?
